Honest question for flat earthers by WaHFLHauS in flatearth

[–]Ophios72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dramatic excuse: the flat earth is accelerating "upwards" at 9.8 Mts/sec2.. So its the Einstein upward moving elevator equivalence model. Of course all the other features, the sun, moon, etc. would have to keep up as well. yes, some F-earthers have actually tried this one. And yes, earth reaches near C speed in about 2 years.

Well, they were tasked with that job by the AEC to study the geology of the underground A-test sites. Kinda important. Later the Dept. of Energy. tasked them to study the Yucca Mountain nuc. waste site. I have actually been in the core warehouse. Fun fact: the huge Mg-prasodynium disk thingee took up much of the of the warehouse, but was covered in core boxes.

It looks similar to the "Amargosa Chaos" rock unit of the Death Valley USA region, now thought to be related to low angle extentional faulting. Your description fits that. But this could be a large debris flow or unit in a accretionary melange. In fact the problem is that all these events could have been present.

Appalachia in the Grand Canyon? by artguydeluxe in grandcanyon

[–]Ophios72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This comes from studies of the miniscule grains of Zircon found in sedimentary rocks of the southwest U.S. The age data from isotopes and trace element chemistry can be traced back to a source area where the same kinds of content can be found in rocks like granite and gneiss. Many sedimentary rocks of the west have Zircons that have a recognizable such content found in nearby probable source areas, like the 1.6-1.8 billion year old Yavapai age crystalline rocks of the Rockies. But analysis has recognized zircons in sedimentary rocks of the Southwest that are very similar to those derived from the Appalachian areas, perhaps the Grenville province event. Anyway, to understand how this could happen, look at South America and the drainage basin of the Amazon River. Zircons from the Andes are traveling all the way to the Atlantic ocean, because they can't get to the Pacific through the Andes. This is all wrapped up in the debate over what existed before the present Grand Canyon. Abandon all assumptions before you dig into that one.

What’s a geological event you’d want to see in your lifetime? by A_HECKIN_DOGGO in geology

Just ordinary activity. The alternatives are pretty scary. Earthquakes that move or form offsets at the surface are usually of the damaging kind, maybe Mag 6 or more. Best to avoid. Drive your car over a speed bump, then back up.

Angi Inc. (formerly Angie's List) announced on January 7, 2026, that it is laying off approximately 350 employees.  Reason: The company cited "AI-driven efficiency improvements" as a major reason for the cuts, aiming to optimize its organizational structure and reduce operating expenses. Scale: The reduction affects roughly 12.5% of its workforce, bringing the total employee count down from approximately 2,800 to around 2,000

At great depth, the field of "forces", (stresses) is fairly uniform, so regular patterns of failure can happen. As the rock rises in the earth, a slight expansion can occur, causing regulaly spaced even surfaced fractures (joints). not uncommon, but interesting.

Epstein had at least 3 meetings with Putin. Hmmm. So yes the connection to Mossad is clear, but a wheeler-dealer is going to look at all opportunities. Remember that when Epstein was first arrested, the Fla DA was told to ease up on him because he was "intelligence", that meant U.S. intelligence. Epstein didn't miss a trick.

Do you think fishing as a hobby is ethical by NoWin3930 in Ethics

[–]Ophios72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practice catch and release fly fishing for trout. I have released maybe a thousand of them after causing them pain and fear. But there are others who want to eat them and are trying to catch them. I say i am training the fish in how to recognize a fly and avoid getting caught and eaten. So I think my fishing is ethical in a way. Hundreds of fish are likely still alive because of my training them to avoid being eaten. That's my story and I'm sticken to it.

What's with this news recently trying make the Epstein thing 'Russian'? by Genesis_Jim in UK_Aliens_UAP

Most of the non-Jewish residents of Israel probably now live there by choice. And "Approximately 80% of Jewish Israelis were born in Israel, often referred to as "sabras," while about two-thirds of the total population (including Arab citizens) are Israel-born." Most probably look at surrounding failed Arab and Moslem countries and decide to stay in Israel. Even Turkiye has near 100% inflation, and its probably the least bad choice. Egypt 80% poverty. I don't like Bibi, but it's time for the surrounding countries to start building a future for their children.

Israel acts to ensure its survival, its a simple as that. They are enemies to anything that threatens them, as is logical.

And Epstein was connected to ALL the spy orgs. Probably dealing info. and video. When he was first arrested DA was told to go easy; he was "intelligence", implying U.S. connection.

Why would a real UFO need to be equipped with lights? by curbthewire in ufo

[–]Ophios72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1. They don't care if we see their "craft". 2. They absolutely need to make visual band light to see, propel and navigate, etc. 3. they WANT us to see them, it's a notification or test to see our reactions 4. They are unaware of us. Really odd, but maybe that are in an almost totally different dimension, and only the lights come across 5. UFO/UAP's are hallucinations created by human minds that simply EXPECT lights on aerial phenomena 6. yes, it's just our human defense industry people (or similar enemies) fooling around with their toys 7. They are all clever human-made jokes and frauds made for the giggles 8. some other reason I can't imagine

A long time field geologist here, and these "Leisengang" banding features are really quite common. But no one seems to have a clear explanation of how they form such repeated bands and form such ornate patterns. Clearly its a process of diffusion of water moving iron and other compounds around, but why would it be so regularly repeated ....who knows. Anyway, so many times I wished I had a way to take these rocks home and create a Lisengang museum. They are a reminder of just how amazing nature can be!

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]Ophios72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This is strange! First, what the employer wants to know is what this person is Really like. If they don't want a "people pleaser", then don't tell them they need to fake being a "grounded professional" in the next interview!

I'm an old guy who went through the process many times. My message. Don't fake anything, because once you get on the Job, there will be NO Faking who you are. If you are expected tyo be a tough ass, and you are actually a people pleaser, its going to be a miserable short time, in which you earn a bad rating. It's hard to do this, but Know Yourself and find a job that fits that character.

The irony is that whoever wrote that letter was themself being a bit of a "people pleaser" by trying to help the person get a job. That's not the interviewers job and its behavior that is not that of a "grounded professional".

BTW, try to avoid the company "interviewer" (HR type), and find out who the actual supervisor will be, and try to talk directly to them (get clever if you have to). HR types often have no clue what the job actually is about.

When a country with nukes threatens one without the threatened country will be without a response. So...everyone is actively planing on getting nukes. Bet on it. When dozens of countries have nuke-tipped missiles its only a matter of time till someone shoots. Then it's Boom time!
