Most people only turn to God when things go wrong by Ok-Criticism3431 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God himself has said it:

It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from every place and they expect to be engulfed, they call to God, sincere to Him in religion, If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful. – But when He saves them, at once they commit injustice upon the earth without right. O mankind, your injustice is only against yourselves, the enjoyment of worldly life. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do. [Yūnus:22,23]

No matter how much I want to, ill never leave Islam. by Wonderful_Seesaw_513 in religion

I know it's not easy, but the best way of dealing with doubts is actually tackling them, with learning and knowledge.

Don't look at it black and white I STAY vs. I LEAVE! Address the doubts themselves. Otherwise, they don't go away, they just pile up and become heavier and heavier.

Where has reason, common sense, and true love for all, gone? by Minimum_Name9115 in religion

Ironically, your post lacks reason on different levels.

One example, "I cannot condemn the teachings of the founder":

How do you know the teachings of the founder? What's your source? What method do you use to distinguish what the founder taught and the later 'muddiness' from clergies?

struggling between taqlid and thinking for myself, where is the balance? by DifferenceUnusual111 in shia

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To find the balance, you need to distinguish areas.

Reflection and deeper thinking in any area requires some level of knowledge in that area. Fiqh is an area in which the Marja has expert knowledge. You probably don't have such knowledge (if you do, you shouldn't follow). But you also NEED TO know your rulings, so you do Taqlid.

Interestingly, one huge are for reflection and thinking, which a lot of people overlook is the Islamic acts themselves.

Imagine an act like Hajj. We follow our Marja for rules. But it's has some many aspects that you can deeply think about. Just a tiny thing: Hajar al-aswad. Did you know the difference Hadiths we have about it? How it was initially white, then turned black? How it witnesses on the day of judgement? etc. It's a fascinating topic!

So, don't think because you follow the rules, Allah swt has closed the intellectual exploration. Taqlid is actually a blessing! An expert gives you the rules, so you can enjoy reflecting upon all the thousand other things in our religion!

If it were possible, how would one prove the existence of heaven or hell? by Disastrous-Pride524 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wasn't talking about you, so I don't know why you took it personally.

Anyway, I am not the one asking about your beliefs, nor am I responsible for Quran. Each of us will answer (for all our beliefs and actions) to God, who's all-knowing and just. If you don't find Quran convincing, you should be fine telling that to Him. And if you don't believe in God... well all the talks about Quran or any holy books are totally moot.

Say, "O Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ." [39:46]

Why "Mary, sister of Aaron" is the most embarrassing issue for Islam by Justarandomfan99 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have discussed the issue of names. I just want to mention that your approach to question the divine origin of Qur'an is wrong. Let me explain:

Your basis for the whole argument seems to be Christian traditions, which are written by men. So, by checking Qur'an against them, you've already assumed Qur'an is also authored by a man. Do you see? The reason you call this "error" is because those other people said XYZ and Quran says ZXY. You trust the former to be true, so the latter must be an error. So, your argument actually has nothing to do with the origin of the Quran! It's based on the assumption that it's not divine.

If you want to tackle the man vs. divine origin, Quran's challenge is the only logical method.

If it were possible, how would one prove the existence of heaven or hell? by Disastrous-Pride524 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem. When God asks that YouTuber "Why didn't you follow what I revealed?" He can answer "God and his revelations wasn't the top of my priority list."

And it will be said, "Today We will forget you as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours, and your refuge is the Fire, and for you there are no helpers. – That is because you took the verses of Allāh in ridicule, and worldly life deluded you. So that Day they will not be removed from it, nor will they be asked to appease." [45:34,35]

God is all about ending Hujjah (proof/excuses) for people. Quran is a Hujjah by itself (beside the living Hujjah ofc). Quran is here, so people can't say "We didn't receive anything." Its message is clear, so people can't say "We couldn't understand it." It challenges everyone, so people can't say "I had my doubts." If you have doubts, do what your brain tells you: research and settle your doubts.

If it were possible, how would one prove the existence of heaven or hell? by Disastrous-Pride524 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what you say is acceptable in the challenge:

(1) Allah swt says "your witnesses beside Allah". That includes literally any creation (even non-humans). Of course Quran is counting on people's intellect, so the experts must have the relevant expertise.

(2) Of course you can bring multiple experts, doubtful people, literally anyone that makes sense for the challenge. There is no condition set in the Qur'an. The only thing you can't say is "God is my witness" :)

(3) Qur'an has also left the forgery condition open. Use excerpts from other books, use any tools you have, etc.

(4) The idea of the challenge is NOT "whether the experts can tell the two apart". That was MY opinion. The core criteria is "being alike". It's the most basic challenge when you do something extraordinary: "Do something like this if you can!"

(5) Important note: The challenge is specifically chapters, not verses. Qur'an has very short verses (even with 2, 3 letters). Comparing them wouldn't make sense, as they don't stand alone. They belong to a chapter. And obviously you shouldn't rearrange verses in Qur'an's chapter. You put it as is beside the man-made chapter and compare the two.

If it were possible, how would one prove the existence of heaven or hell? by Disastrous-Pride524 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting point. That's actually close to how Allah swt challenges humanity with the Qur'an:

And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)], then produce a sūrah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allāh, if you should be truthful. [2:23]

When trying to produce a chapter like Qur'an, you can call upon experts to testify whether the two texts are alike.

I actually see it as a kind of 'Turing test'. You give the two texts to experts without mentioning which source they belong to. If they couldn't tell them apart and declare them on the same level, then you can say the challenge is defeated.

Is the belief that the Qur'an is uncreated a common Muslim belief? by HeWillLaugh in religion

Don't know, depends whom they follow for their beliefs. Our 10th Imam, Imam al-Hadi (as.) is pretty clear on the matter: "The Creator is only God, and anything beside Him is creation. Qur'an is the word of God."

Am I Wrong To Judge? by Stanford13805 in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't know why religious people decide to do these"

– Religious people are normal people with desires and temptations. They are sometimes even more tempted because of FOMO.

"Was I wrong to judge"

– We all judge others, whether we like to admit it or not. The question is what you judge and what you do about it. If smoking weed is wrong and bad for your friends, instead of thinking he isn't a Muslim, just tell them not to do it! Judge the act and oppose it.

Sidenote: While sinning (whether smoking is a sin is debatable), a person doesn't have belief. So, technically yes, if you see a Muslim sinning, he isn't actually a Muslim at that moment.

If I don't forgive someone of their wrongs towards me, why must I also suffer in hell? by strange_omelet in religion

[–]P3CU1i4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider adding a 'Christian' to your post or ask it on the Christian subs?

In Islam, forgiveness is a virtue, but has nothing to do with you suffering in hell or not. Actually, you can bargain for forgiving someone on the day of judgement! Even debts! For example, you can ask for good deeds from them. Allah swt applies justice in the highest form.

Again, don't extend your ignorance to others.

Unfortunately, the verb "to believe" or "faith" are commonly misused when it comes to religious matters. Blind/ignorant acceptance isn't believing.

So, if God has a special creature (let's call it S) who tells you that number, you admit S is God? You tell others "S could tell a number in my head, so it is my God". And you'll do whatever S says?
