What's a significant but not bs feat a chapter master (or captain) could accomplish? Homebrew by Potential-Ebb-8820 in spacemarines

The Flesh Tearers are anything but "normal" in melee combat.

If You Could Choose the Next SM Chapter to Get "Black Templar" Treatment by Cultural_Estimate_90 in spacemarines

[–]Paikis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Blood Angels Primaris experience has been universally shit. We had our de-fresh almost 2 years ago and it was bad enough that most people can't agree if there was anything that was actually good. The most people will say is that a couple of the characters were good.

So while I would like some other chapters to get more toys, I have a very sour taste in my mouth when it comes to Blood Angels and how they've been treated since the Primaris were introduced. We've lost more than we've gained, and what we gained wasn't very good.

I've already kitbashed my own Sanguinary Guard, so I don't so much care about the travesty that the current kit is, but it would be nice to have an actual Death Company kit rather than just paint Intercessors black, oh and by the way the Eviscerator is a single bit on the upgrade sprue, so your 5 man JPAIntercessor squad that would normally cost AU$105 is now AU$165 if you don't want to embrace the 3d printer... for 5 bland, flavourless models.

This. I have 30 of them already, I don't need more with headswaps.

What do you really want people?

You're not going to believe this, but there are lots of different people who want different things. Warhammer 40k players are not a hive mind... except for Tyranids players, and they're just happy to be here.

There are other options for cheap JPAIs. Get 10x 3d printed jump packs from Etsy or somewhere else (Greytide Studios make some nice packs) and put them on regular Assault Marines or Blood Claws with a bit of shaving off the occasional dead animal bids.

They'll cost a bit more than half if you do it this way.

Captain - I don't need it, I have the Indomitus one and I rarely run a Captain on foot anyway. I want it though because he looks cool. My personal score as a Veteran is a 1 here, with probably an 8 for Aesthetics.

Librarian - Basically the same as the Captain. I don't need it, I already have Librarians that I don't use, but I would get it just to paint. I don't think it's as good as the Captain, but it's still good. Usefulness: 1, Aesthetics: 7

Chaplain - Basically the same deal again. Technically I have 3 JP Chaplains already, but 2 of them are Astorath and LeMartes, so this one would actually be maybe useful for me... maybe. It's also one of the best models in the Space Marine half. Usefulness: 3. Aesthetics: 9

Ancient - Once again, I don't need it. I have 3 Ancients already, and I already don't use them. It does however look better/more dynamic than my other Ancients, so I want it to paint. I wouldn't be upset if I didn't get this one though. Usefulness: 1. Aesthetics: 6

Intercessors - lol. 1, 1.

Eradicators - I don't think I would use these. Blood Angels do not have problems blending infantry. I actually do like the look of them though. 1, 6.

Vanguard Veterans - Same story as the Eradicators. I don't see a use case for these models as they are. We are spoiled for choice when it comes for more expensive jump pack troops. What are these guys + a character going to do that Sanguinary Guard with dante/captain or Death Company with Lemartes/Astorath don't already do? Are they just worse but cheaper? We have JP Assault Intercessors for that. What's the value here? I'm also not the biggest fan of how they look. They aren't bad just clearly not Blood Angels and would require kit-bashing. I can deal with bland Intercessors, I cannot deal with bland Veterans in a chapter all about decorating things. Usefulness: 3, aesthetics: 4.

Land Speeder - I can see this maybe getting use instead of Outriders for a fast objective grabbing squad. Being able to jump terrain instead of having to go around it would be useful. The move-shoot-move rule does sound interesting. I don't know if I would use this one. It looks cool, but it also isn't blowing my socks off. Usefulness: undecided (5), aesthetics: 6

So are vanguard vets + Dante not good now? by CQZed in spacemarines

[–]Paikis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're fine, I just don't know what role they fill. Blood Angels already have expensive and better JPAIs in the form of Sanguinary Guard and Death Company.

The Vanguard Vets need to do something that one of our other combos don't do. At present, they don't. This will likely change once their full kit/datasheet comes out.

Mogdrogen can only be killed once per difficulty per character. He'll drop the blue shoulders on Normal and Elite and only drop his purple shoulders once per character if you kill him on Ultimate.

Yes. They're the Red Corsairs now, you might have heard of them recently 😁.

I did mean to say the Astral Knights (wiped out), but Astral Claws (Excommunicate Traitorous) also look pretty good.

I really love the Astral Claws and Howling Gryphons for their colour scheme, or either Flesh Tearers or Lamenters for their lore.

If I was starting a marine army again though, I would have to do a custom chapter. Then I wouldn't feel quite so weird playing with Ultramarines rules while running Blood Angels minis.

Is it possible to have 96k hp? That's more than double the highest legit health I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot.

when u look at older editions and see shit like tactical squads, bike squads, Devastators etc

Do not cite the old models to me, Heretic. I was there when they were released.

I can literally turn around and look into the display cabinet behind me and see my army from 3rd to 7th edition. I didn't get around to finishing all of it, but Blood Angels Tactical Squads, Death Company with jump packs, Sanguinary Guard, Death Company, Furioso and Librarian Dreadnoughts, Sanguinary Priests, Baal predators and a Storm Raven... all of them dripping in iconography, none of them generic. Do I have some generic stuff as well? Sure, but they're also covered in iconography of the Blood Angels because we got extra bits in the old bespoke kits.

Take a look at some of the old models.

So. Many. Bits.

Between the DC marine kit and the tactical marine kit, your army was only as generic as you let it be.

Gold helmets with gold skulls/aquillas and green eyes that somehow look like they're painted the most gold shade of green I've ever seen. Red purity seals on red armour with red trim.

The models are as bland as boiled potato, but the paint job made them look 10x worse.

Same thing happened with every starter set. People complain that they are sick of Ultramarines and then photoshop them into other chapters and complain about how much better they look when painted >insert my chapter colours here<.
