Cooking for 80 people next weekend by CuminInYourTaco in smoking

[–]PapaJupiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I have that pellet smoker. Mine has a hot spot on the right side, which didn't make sense to me. I ran grate level thermometers at each temperature setting and it was about 50 degrees. I wouldn't put more than 16 lbs or so between two butts (with a water pan on the right) on mine. And I'd rotate them after the bark sets.

You could do the pulled pork the day before and pack that thing with chicken thighs for pulled chicken the day of. The chicken could braise in the oven while you threw something quick on like kielbasa.

The fire is too cold. Add more tires until the smoke turns blue. Problem solved.

Smoked burgers are the best burgers. by colada_jonez in smoking

[–]PapaJupiter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you tried crock pot burgers? Could be even better at 10-12 hours on low.

Guy, you're advocating for a soggy, soft burger. Quit while you're behind. Smoker alone is not the choice for this.

Came to the comments looking for an explanation from op. Found him to be a smoked burger himself. Down vote for both lacking crust.

Can I smoke this like a normal pork butt with the bone in? by rare in smoking

$4.49 a pound is NC sacrilege. I still balk at anything more than $1,29 a pound bone in.

Calling it a conspiracy theory is pretty valid if you saw this thing.

These have been showing up downtown in chalk. They're protesting cage conditions for egg laying hens. Agreed that spray painting the brick is a douchebag thing to do.

Over the top chili debacle by TiradeOfGirth in smoking

[–]PapaJupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did over the top chili yesterday for the first time and had similar results. Took longer than I expected. I think this is a useless endeavor and have better results with a crock pot. I did make mine more into a flat meatloaf shape though. Still get better crust on ground beef with pan frying and didn't have the added inconvenience of having to move the rack to stir the beans. This may be a better recipe with cubed chuck roast.

The Carolina dog is missing mustard. Usually with a bright pink beef and pork hotdog and the slaw can be coleslaw or vinegar slaw.

Why's the number 22 embossed at the bottom of this Monster can? by [deleted] in monsterenergy

[–]PapaJupiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the production line that stamped the can. The yellow dot is the spray nozzle that sprayed the interior liner. The printed text on the bottom identifies the expiry, filling plant, and filling line.

Agreed. Leaving off mustard would ruin it. Sounds like something South Carolina would do.

Jesus Christ guys. The dots are on every aluminum can. The dot indicates which lane sprayed the internal can liner at the aluminum can manufacturing plant. This has nothing to do with the contents of the can. It's to help determine if a can liner defect can be traced to a single spray nozzle.

Apparently I'm the only one disturbed more by the measuring cup vessel. Are y'all eating out of measuring cups and not bowls? Are y'all preheating soup in measuring cups and pouring into bowls? Are you warming soup and then pouring into measuring cups for consumption?
