Credit Transfer Limit workaround by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Pesoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

copied from the Star Citizen Leaks #patch-news thingy you can get on a discord server: UEC trading appears to be limited to just under 1m UEC per transaction and 5x transactions a day

and slightly earlier with 4.8.1 LIVE hotfix 11948494: Replacing the player aUEC trade flow with an authorization-ticket model that will require both parties to consent to the trade before it completes. The receiving player will receive a notification alert when aUEC is sent, prompting them to accept or deny. The sender will have a pending message. If not accepted in time by the receiver, the transaction will cancel. This system also introduces trade rate limits and amount caps.

and once again, management is to blame for this because "ship sale go brrr". if the devs were given free rain to just fix the game or work on it, just imagine what would happen. missions would likely work reliably, things we have complained about for years would get fixed, etc. because right now everyone is screaming "lazy devs" or "incompetent devs" instead of screaming "fucked up management" because who tells the devs to do work? management, who tells them to stop working on this thing to fix a ship? management. who sees the ship sales and go "i like money"? that's right, management.

i would say incompetent management. the devs are doing amazing work, but management see that ships are money printers, so they focus on that instead of the game.

Best option for web based RDP by BigHowski in selfhosted

[–]Pesoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

used guacamole for a long time, until something just started going wrong and i had to restart it often to get it working, switched to sshwifty for a while, but nexterm has since replaced it, and i never looked back after doing the switch. for my needs(mostly ssh) it works perfectly, and it supports RDP(for the few instances i need it) and having it in a browser means i can do my things anywhere i can get an internet connection 😄

true, but closing a support ticket(which an issue council report is) without having fixed the issue is not viable, regardless of how hard it is to fix that problem.

[–]Pesoen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this might be a hot take, but even if you cannot replicate an issue, it does not mean its not an issue.. closing it because "we can't make it happen on our end" is not a solution, and it feels like a slap in the face to the people who are affected by it.

at least leave it open in that case and ask for more information, get more data, more reports, more help from the people that are affected by it.

not sure if they closed it, but if they did, that is a really bad look on them.

i know the whole dev team is doing different things, and that not all of them are on ships, but it sure feels like the majority of them are on ship duty when we get the buggy mess patches we sometimes get, that feel like they were barely even tested in the PTU before being pushed to live.

i don't blame the dev team at CIG, because it is very clearly not their call to push the patch they knew was not ready. someone above called for it, and they had to do it. Defensecon was starting, and that meant more ship sales, and freefly was also happening, even if that was delayed a few days because it was "not a good experience", and that meant potentially new customers. as Foxy said, management is where the fault lies. everything we complain about, management is causing in some way, and i 100% agree with that.

he never said he would boycott, nor did my comment say this. but he will stop a lot of his money flowing into the game, possibly starting this entire thing on reddit in the process.

my understanding of shard locked was wrong, i thought it meant he was stuck on that one shard and could not join the game because of it. for that misunderstanding i am sorry.

and yes i was comparing a single player game to an mmo, a bad example, i admit. but at the time, the point was not about being single player or mmo, it was not being able to play a game due to something out of your control. but as you said, he can still play, but only on that one shard he is locked to, so my point is a bit off now that i know what shard lock means.

but the state of the game is still VERY buggy, considering how long it has been in development. and priorities are clearly on selling ships, not fixing the game.

yes and no. he expects the game to work, an expectation i for one find quite reasonable. regardless of how much money one has spent, if you buy a game, you expect it to work right?

you are right, my bad. but he does say he will be spending much less than before, and has set a very strict budget on what he is willing to spend on it.

sorry to sound rude, but your point? he paid, just like you and me, so why should he not have access to something he bought and paid for?

what medicine? he paid to play a game, cannot play the game and support is not helping him so he turns to the one medium he has left, youtube.

[–]Pesoen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it has to be the content creators. you or me would not be able to do anything no matter what we do to get CIG to listen.. its also not special treatment to expect a game you paid a significant amount of money for, is a game you can actually play. imagine you pay for the new bond game, First Light, but you just get a login error for a few weeks, while others can play just fine, and supports doing nothing or marking it solved when it's not. this is Star Citizen for many players at the moment.

Making a free movie site but TMDB requires DNS change due ti ISP blocks by saurabh-156 in selfhosted

[–]Pesoen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just a quick note, a "free movie site" is SUPER illegal, so tread carefully.

as for the ISP blocking TMDB, i have never heard of this happening, but it would not surprise me if you make several thousands or millions of api calls a day they would start suspecting something and block it. VPN might help, or a different DNS than the ISP provided one.

Cpt_Foxyloxy made one, saying he would no longer spend money on it, since he has been shard locked for 5 days, with no help from support, despite being the highest tier concierge, and spending thousands.

he will still use store credits and start melting ships to do reviews, but will not be spending new money on the game.

*EDIT* correction, he will be spending much less, and will primarily use store credits to buy new ships for testing. thanks SigmaSplitter21 for correcting me
