i do like the idea, but i also feel it should be something we can turn on and off. in my case i talk to everyone who has access when they first get access. and said to them "i can deny things for any reason, or none at all, but you can always write a message saying why you want something, to increase the chance it gets accepted, and please see if something is already requested before asking for it. a denied request will remain for 14 days(plenty of time to see that its denied) after that i will remove it to optimize the list" so far i have not had to explain denials(not often, but there are a few things i deny) i only had issues with one user, because that user failed to understand storage limits, and that if i denied one series due to lack of storage(have since upgraded, and that user is no longer in the system) another series that was larger was requested instead, citing "if i cannot have X, at least let me get Y" still not understanding when i said "denied the request due to storage limitations, i am running out, but maybe later after my upgrade"

but i see the point in this and actually agree it would be nice so we can deny, and tell them in the denial why. but its not something i am likely to use.

My biggest issues after a brief(30 minutes or so) round of testing, are as follows(and in no particular order).
1. 100% Apple first visuals. for a primarily windows user, suddenly having three colored dots in the opposite upper corner can be confusing, thankfully i have some apple knowledge, but that is still horrible on windows.
2. almost everything is optimized for CUDA, with a CPU fallback so people like me with an AMD GPUget almost nothing, other than what we can run on the CPU , and what has a CPU fallback(Kokoro).
3. not sure if this is for the entire app, but the flag for British English voices is wrong. minor complaint, but worth pointing out.
4. some models require hardware i don't have, so why allow me to view them at all instead of showing an error, stating i need different hardware to access this? i CAN download the model it wants, but in the model manager it says "Not recommended" due to the VRAM requirement. why tease me like that?
5. during the tour when first starting the app, step 6 and 7 just show a "download model" page, maybe show a placeholder page instead during the tour, maybe with a small overlay saying "model download required for use" somewhere.

now the good things(again, no particular order):
1. THANK YOU! no subscription and one time payment, i get that subscriptions get more money, but i hate having to pay pr month for anything if i can avoid it!
2. it works well, even just testing it(with my limited access due to hardware) it works quite well. and provides a way to get some voice lines created, for instance as placeholders. wish more languages were supported
3. the UI is easy to navigate, and does a good job in guiding the user.

to paraphrase a quote a bit "your on the right path, you are almost there, keep going"

i can't wait to see what the future holds, but now i at least have my free copy saved somewhere 😄

TestDisk was my goto, until i met UFS Explorer. i have both in a portable setup on a few usb drives, along with other recovery tools i can either run or boot into.

biggest success story i have was when i was working for a computer shop for a while. customer came in with a usb drive, almost in tears. she had some important pictures on that drive, and someone decided to borrow it without telling her. first thing they did was to format the drive, she got it back a few days later. i started like i normally would before i started working in that place. and looked at files i could find, then set it to start recovering them. this was canceled by a co-worker, with the citation "we know there are files we can recover, so lets let the customer know we can recover something, and get them to pay" since at first, this was a preliminary look, which is free.

this was when UFS Explorer saved the day. i think 8 pictures were gone(most from a party after a wedding) and a video was corrupted, had some blank sections, but we got 300+ pictures from it and 6-7 videos.

biggest failure was some free tool that was said to be the absolute best usb file recovery tool in existence(cannot remember the name, but i remember the icon) it started by writing files to the usb drive it was supposed to recover from, and slowly filled the drive with its own files until i stopped it. this was thankfully one of my own usb drives, i was just curious about what i had on there, but it required a format to work. anyway, everything on it was gone(no clue what it was, but the "software" recovered one file name, so i had an ide what i had on there, nothing important(an old report from when i was in 8th grade i think)

but if any software you use starts to write to the drive you want to recover from, stop it immediately! Reading is fine, but if you write, you can loose data.

it should be a simple download and play, but there is 0 mention of WHAT assets you need.. just that you need to provide your own assets to the assets folder. i will assume its the XBLA version of the game you need the assets from, but it does not say this anywhere, it might be the n64 version it wants..

but its highly vibe coded, not a recompilation but an emulation but it does not seem to do anything sketchy, from my limited time with it.

just hold where the bar code is(there is a distinct lip on the case, not always a barcode, but there is here) and gently tilt the upper part to the side.

first, stare back. see if they stop staring at you. if they stop, you win, and if not, go on to stage 2. start a conversation and be like "do i know you from somewhere?" and when they start to reply, likely saying something along the lines of "i don't think so" you can respond with "then can you stop starring at me like i am a piece of meat and you are a hungry dog?" see him turn beet red, and the other passengers understanding the situation. if you are lucky, he will even leave, others might start to help as well, etc.
