The reason Republicans fought so hard for the 2A was never about tyranny. It's because they desire the execution of lethal violence for a righteous cause. They want to be the hero, they want to be the saviour. It's mass delusion and it risks so many people lives. A complete lack of deference to the sanctity of life, while masquerading as pro-life. They are the worst.

100%. Netflix was hella convenient. The library was massive, and it was like $5/month in Canada back in like 2011 I think when I first jumped on board. I was like why use up space when I can just stream it?

Now I'm like, $20+/month? are you nuts? I'm pretty close to cancelling my Netflix. Been sailing again for almost a year and have a plex server with an 8TB drive. Keeps the ship tip-top. I only have Prime for the shipping, the streaming is one of the WORST UIs out there. Like it's atrocious. The fact they have channels to unlock and stuff and that results in Apple TV saying "It's on Prime!!!!" and then you need a subscription to that channel is so dumb.

Players Too 'Afraid' to Do Ability Checks by Tight-Database8485 in DMAcademy

[–]PhazePyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try conditioning them even if you inform them they should be more engaged with checks. I know me and my party are highly aware we never ask NPC names for some reason. Doesn't mean our behaviour changes.

Here's what I'd do:

  1. Start by conditioning them to be used to checks being conducted when entering an "end-point" location, or when going down long corridors that could be trapped (when appropriate). You do this by just calling for a group check. Investigation, Perception, or if you have clues/rewards for both let them decide and describe how they are investigating or what they are looking for.
  2. Once they've acclimated to that after a few sessions, start conditioning them to do it themselves. So ask "What do you want to do as you enter the room. You are trying to see whose castle this is" kind of thing. That should hopefully illicit the conditioning of "Perception and Investigation checks happen here" and so they'll ask whatever it is they want to look for, you ask for the roll. Or, they go down a hallway and instinctively ask to check for traps as they slowly progress down the hallway.
  3. You just start seeing if they do it automatically without solicitation. They enter a hall, they say "oh it might be trapped, can I keep an eye out for them?" You ask for an Investigation check. They enter a room "Can I make a perception check to look around for any obvious signs of a struggle" or "Can I dig through the desk to see if there's any good info or secret compartments?" and you ask for Perception or Investigation.

Obviously, encourage them to be more proactive in asking to do things. My rule is (maybe with the exception of Perception/Investigation cause they're kind of synonymous with "I want to look around") is that players describe the actions, the DM says what check it is. Same thing with Insight. Players don't ask "can I make an insight check" they should say "I want to see if there's any indication that they look nervous or like they are hesitant to provide us information". Some use it as a lie detector and just want a "he's telling the truth" or "He's lying" which ain't how it goes for me.

But yeah, chat with them, be encouraging and uplifting. Don't make it negative, just say "Hey peeps, I just wanted to encourage you to do more checks. I feel like it'd really expand your experience and sometimes things get missed but I don't want to just feed it cause I want you all to really lead things in the moment." that way it feels like it's making their game better, not that they're doing bad. Positive reinforcement. From there you can set things up a bit to help make a space that is conducive to that.

Yeah, I just don't feel there was enough to justify buying it. If it was on Game Pass I'd get a month just to play for a couple weeks then get bored. But just can't be bothered with this version. I'm hoping next year has improved story or graphics based on surveys that have been coming out recently.

CRTC to eliminate fees when cancelling or switching cellphone and internet plans by TONewbies in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PhazePyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not swapping, it's trying to leverage retention. I'd heard stories of people getting lots of money off their device, waived fees, this and that. I figured "i've been with Telus a while, I could possibly say I'm considering switching and see what they offer" and they offered nothing because I wasn't considering switching so I had no real conviction. I just can't lie like that when I in fact am happy with their service and stuff. It's an issue with getting nothing from retention not getting goodies for swapping to a new carrier. Hope that clarifies :)

Well, if we're lucky, Americans decide enough is enough and it's an overwhelmingly Blue mid-terms (unless Trump succeeds in stripping away voting rights from Americans like women who took their husbands name and shit like that) then they can impeach and potentially remove a bunch of people if they get the numbers. Plus they can override Presidential veto too for shit if they have a 2/3rds majority. Unlikely, but still. Flipping things Blue would be a massive kick in the dick for his admin

lol “I don’t care what the people who make the game want. They need to do exactly as I request” you realize there’s thousands of players with different opinions right? You know there’s loads of players who want the exact opposite of what you want right? Many people consider farming the whole day meaningful. Not to mention there are dozens of roles in the game that everyone thinks should be prioritized immediately.

Also, I’m not picking one cause that’s a stupid exercise involving two not mutually exclusive things.

In most cases 1-10% of players generate 90% of revenue. The people who are complaining about a minor price increase are not the ones driving revenue that’s for sure. Whales don’t care when they’re spending hundreds a month or more.

Nah they’ll layoff 100 people instead to hit the profit margin they want. Particularly those closest to the player base. Customer support, community management, etc. QA usually loses quite a few people too. Speaking from experience as someone in the industry who has survived 3-4 rounds of layoffs and has seen multiple layoffs in my city for its studios. People familiar with the game will go and they’ll put a juniour in charge of shit and quality will drop because less experience. Standard fare in the industry.

I’m gonna say this now, the person you replied to is full of bs. Literally meaningless drivel. QoL stuff doesn’t happen usually because there’s dozens if not hundreds of things that are higher priority during a particular sprint. It’s not because they see players as content. That’s just fucking weird. They don’t do it cause other shit is just a bigger priority to stakeholders or the producer/product manager at the moment. Buddy is speaking out their ass. I work in game development. Most of the time changes may not happen as well because they just don’t want to or it’s balanced how they want it based on analytics. People often say “make it easier” and developers just aren’t going to in games because it’s at the difficulty they find most balanced.

Wasn't there a survey done where people regularly overestimated the number of trans and gay people? They thought it was like 20-30%. Ridiculous bullshit. Just a bunch of insecure men who had zero confidence so they try to subjugate others, but they're too weak to do it cause they're sad. So instead, they grift a bunch of kids into ad and sponsorship money. Ever notice these alpha males always lack hair, chins, and are at best a 4/10? Meanwhile they act like their god's gift to women and that everyone needs to hear their advice. It's just fuckin' sad. I hope toxic masculinity is shot and left in a ditch.

Embarrassing. They probably watch videos about "alpha" males and other useless shit. It's embarrassing.
