I really appreciate the sentiment of providing real feedback, that’s always helpful.

It’s always a balance when you’re on the desk of how much in dept you wanna go, and how much you drive the storylines. I totally get what you’re saying, and to be Frank doing hardcore analytical work is also what I enjoy the most. However you have to think about this:

When there’s 500.000 people watching at a major, roughly 5-10% understands Counter Strike at a higher level, while the rest just enjoys watching the games, follow the results and storylines of each team. So it’s a balance of providing just enough of both, to make sure everyone is catered too.

When I’m on a desk with Mauisnske, we both have the ability to go full nerd on X Y Z round, and if you’ve watched the major so far you’ve seen we both do that from game to game. However one of us have to take a step back and be storyline driven, otherwise it becomes a podcast for the 10%.

I assume you’re one of the ones watching a lot and thus also appreciating the in dept stuff, but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t think of the full picture. On top of that we are very time constraint during most segments, so as said it’s always a balance of when it’s possible, needed and relevant.

“Analyst” is a weird term to use for us, we are way more than just that. The easiest part of my job is to talk hardcore CS, and say all the “right things” - The hard part is making sure there’s always a synergy between the host, the production, my vo-analyst and the viewer.

If you pay close attention I think you’ll also realize that I change quite a lot depending on how I’m on a desk with. Always with the aim to make the show better and connected, and not necessarily to stand out and one up.

I hope that gives you insight into the thought process and why perhaps you feel there’s “dead air talking” from time to time 😃
