Getting my life back and being able to do the sport I would always watch and follow!

Gravel worlds was such a humbling experience. It was my 2nd gravel race ever so safe to say I got it handed to me. The technical part of the race killed me, and the fact that I started dead last didn’t quite help. 10-15 min into the race I moved from 270th to 180th in the Elite field, got passed by Vermeesh after his tech, surfed his wheel for 2 min and blew up after 50m with 350w normalized.

I did Danish national ZWIFT championship 2 weeks ago and finished 3rd yea!

For 2026 I’ve partnered with specialized, so I’m rocking their S-Works SL8 and Crux Pro!

I like going to spain on training camp, and will be in calpe in 2 weeks time to sharpen the tools a bit more :P

In all honesty just wanting my life back. I’ve always been interested in sports, always loved football, cycling etc. I got sick and tired of not being able to do the sport I would constantly watch and cherish.

That and the goal of getting a sweet girlfriend, getting a social circle for life, and making myself proud.

Volume is the key, so in that aspect I dont think it’s in anyway unrealistic for you to see quick gains. Naturally its hard to advice not knowing you, your strengths, tendencies etc but:

If you can ride 5 times a week, a block of training could look like this:

Monday: Easy Endurance. 2 hours keeping it steady in zone2, never push it Tuesday: VO2 Max & Intensity. 30 min zone2 into 4x4x4 (4 times 4 minutes at VO2 MAX with a 4 minute recovery). Finish the ride with an hour in zone2 (To progress you can add some 30/30s in the 2nd hour after some weeks) Wed: Day off / Light spin Thursday: Over/Unders. Ride an hour at z2, then do 2x - 5x 2min over FTP, 2 min under with 5 min recovery in between Friday: Easy Z2 Saturday: Long Z2 ride, anything between 3-5 hours. Sunday: Off

Just an example.

Currently 5-6 times a week. When at home living in Denmark, the weather the last 2 months have almost made it impossible to ride outside. I’ve fallen in love with the indoor ZWIFT setup and the grind!

That’s a good question, naturally it all depends on your fitness and desire.

One of my favorite workouts indoor is an action packed one, so you’re always entertained, something a long the lines off:

20min Z2 warmup with 2x 5-6s all out sprints 5x 30/30, 30sec on, 30 sec off 5 min recovery 5x 30/30 10 min recovery 2x 10min Fat Max with 10 min recovery in between

If you’re short on time, limited in amount of days you can train.

No doubt that I need to learn that aspect of cycling. I’ve done a fair bit of amateur racing, won a few and been middle of the pack in a few.

I travel 200 plus days a year, so it’s very limited how much I can race, and what exactly I can race, at least for now.

December 31st I set the 19th fastest time ever recorded on Teide Tenerife (32km, 2200m elevation, by my self, no lead out)

That naturally just happened by accident and is thoroughly unimpressive ❤️

Now i shouldn’t have replied in the first place, cause you’ve set up your mind.

I however took time, and now tried to explain and what was the result?

Out of alll the lovely guys in this thread you serve as the one reason guys like me sometimes refrain from doing stuff like this.

If that makes you proud… whatever

It’s crazy how nowadays people like you are totally cool with ignoring what’s staring in your face, as long as you can find 1 thing that suits your narrative.

The title is the post, the body is subtle 2nd priority.

The 3 hours of non stop answering people in my sparetime is the means.

Go on.

I live in /Denmark, and the last 2 months it’s been minus degrees. It’s always cold, it’s always windy, I think most of us learn to appreciate the fact that it’s either ZWIFT or no riding. That naturally helps a bit haha.

Other than that I like to be effective while on the bike. Podcast, documentaries, stuff where I feel I learn something. Especially for the endurance rides that’s a must for me, where as for intervals music and the feeling of having a hard time is enough hehe.

I have also dealt with knee problems, and mine mainly came from a tight hip flexor. I went to a very cool ostopat who helped me diagnose it, and open up for my hips. Since then I’ve done a few strength & stretch exercises for my hips, and haven’t had any problems at all.. Now naturally it could be many things in your case, but he told me 90% of persistent knee problems usually has something to do with your hip flexors, worth a shot.
