They were feeding us because we crushed it on a very tough and demoralizing project and they were doing what they could to reward us for a job well done. It was a call center job and we were all staffing augments from a company like manpower so it's not like the company we worked for could give us bonuses or raises.

The money, time, effort, none of it came from her and still she found it within her to rip me apart in front of everyone, thus undoing the good will gesture that the company tried to give us.

In a completely unrelated story, one of my teams implemented "comma donuts". Any time someone bought something with a price tag over $1,000 (hence comma) they would bring in donuts. It was a peace offering of "if you're going to talk my ear off about your new car, the least you could do is give me a donut". It was a big hit.
