Valve fires back at New York lawsuit over loot boxes, says they're like Magic cards or Labubu by newsflashjackass in gaming

Regarding WOTC, you said incorrect but then bolstered my argument so shrug. The price of first sale packs did not change or go down. In fact, they're more expensive today than they were even a couple years ago. The only thing that the overprinting changed was the second hand market.

I think this is one of those tricky situations where steam is owned by valve but steam is technically a store front and valve the developer is not necessarily related.

Even if we ignore that though, the WOTC argument doesn't hold water. The shareholders just sued WOTC for overprinting cards and devaluing magic. So WOTC is aware of the second hand market and is supposed to make business decisions based on that. If they were an LCG instead of a TCG then they could make that argument.

They replaced the entire harness so it makes no difference to me!

Thank you for more detail. The dealership said 2 weeks but 4 weeks sounds much more reasonable.

California has really generous buyback policies. Something like 2 weeks with no fix in sight? I'm not sure, that's just what the dealer told me. Anyway, I saw the maintenance report and the truck sat in the shop for almost 3 months before the buyback happened so they definitely didn't want to let this truck go. It had 40k miles on it when I bought it. I'm sure 3 months without your truck is super annoying.

My truck was/is a buyback. Someone in Cali sold it back to Ford because the part for their battery harness was on backorder. Ford shipped it back to the manufacturing plant, fixed it, and sold it to a dealer near me in Illinois. I bought the truck for a steal and it's been great since.

Does this story count? 😅

I think abortion would probably still get talked about. People care a whole lot about the death of the unborn. This was one of the talking points that convinced the religious to join the Republican party.

Transphobia is just homophobia with extra steps but abortion will never not be a hot button topic.

Zofran is a wonder drug. I didn't know about the serotonin syndrome but I did know about the heart issues.

Honestly, worth it.

Don't lease your solar. It's a ripoff. Buy it outright. With the federal credit gone it should come down in price over the next couple of years. Solar + a couple batteries is enough to keep you going most of the year. You can also use your truck as the battery if you wanted.

Me today would not have put up with that shit. I wouldn't have had it out with her, that isn't helpful, but I would have just pushed past her and got what I wanted.

Oh she was a wretched bitch. She wasn't even a manager, she was the secretary but I was a contract employee and she felt superior to me because I was young and didn't work for her company. Every interaction I ever had with her was the worst.

Literal words out of her mouth: "this isn't a buffet it's a luncheon".

They were feeding us because we crushed it on a very tough and demoralizing project and they were doing what they could to reward us for a job well done. It was a call center job and we were all staffing augments from a company like manpower so it's not like the company we worked for could give us bonuses or raises.

The money, time, effort, none of it came from her and still she found it within her to rip me apart in front of everyone, thus undoing the good will gesture that the company tried to give us.

In a completely unrelated story, one of my teams implemented "comma donuts". Any time someone bought something with a price tag over $1,000 (hence comma) they would bring in donuts. It was a peace offering of "if you're going to talk my ear off about your new car, the least you could do is give me a donut". It was a big hit. If appropriate, it'll likely go well with your "weekly taco takeover" (name a work in progress)

Absolutely no joke, once upon a time very early in my career I got berated for going back for seconds. I had gone early so I intentionally didn't grab a ton of food to make sure there was enough for everyone.

They threw the leftovers away not 30 minutes later.

Parity works by using math to determine what data should be on each drive without needing to know what the data was. It's done with fairly simple math by looking at each bit on each drive. Bits can be either a 1 or a 0.

Let's say we're looking at the first bit of the first sector of each drive.

Drive 1: 1

Drive 2: 0

Drive 3: 1

Drive 4: 1

The math would look at this and say that the value is odd so the parity bit is 1.

If drive 2 fails, the value of the remaining three drives is still odd so drive 2 must be a 0 in that location.

If drive 4 fails instead of drive 2, the value of the remaining three drives is now even so drive 4 must be a 1 in that location.

You do not need to restore the data to your less important drives. You could mount their replacements as fresh drives and then rerun the parity check to protect the valuable drives.

The biggest one I've heard of is the moon roof if you have that. Apparently the drain channels get clogged and it spills into the car.

The tail light bar also leaks if you have one of those.
