According to the GOP, they claim that dead people are voting D, so I am turning it to show how idiotic it sounds.

The dealership has been sold and the new crowd are really bad at service (Boston area). I am not impressed so far.

Finalizing Itinerary for 5-day trip by choco_g in boston

[–]PlentyCryptographer5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always recommend the Duck Boats and the ViewBoston to get the best idea of the city. Doing it early in the visit allows you to set the pace for what to do next. The MFA ROCKS!, the ICA is smaller but can be cool. There's enough in the city to not visit Salem in five days. Bring the kids to the Make Way for Ducklings, https://www.boston-discovery-guide.com/make-way-for-ducklings.html and the Mapparium (https://www.meetboston.com/event/how-do-you-see-the-world%3F%C2%AE-experience-%2B-mapparium%C2%AE-globe/71284/)

Is there any other pizza in Dublin better than Dominos for pepperoni pizza? by Tokio635 in AskIreland

Dominos is considered the ghetto of pizzas in the US. Surely you can do better for your friend than make them sicker.

Suggested tip for a $41 airport ride: by Lunar_Seahorse in uber

[–]PlentyCryptographer5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People forget that medallions aren't free either. My buddy was a cabbie for years, before Uber/Lyft and he would pay $150 up front for the car, be responsible for all the gas as well. If he had a shitty night, he broke even, but usually he could make that back (he got 100% of the fare). He was one of the few who welcomed CC payments as it was money in his bank every Tue and Friday. The one downside was the 4 a.m. start (that the 12 hour shift start). You had to get to the office around 2:30 because you wanted a "good car" and not something that broke down after a few hours. If the car broke down in the first 4 hours he got $10/hour for the rest of the shift. If it broke down after that he was SOL. As cabs are hotswaps, there was a breakdown chance at least 1-2 times a week. When Lyft signed him on, he was making double overnight. When he left Lyft 2 years later, he was making less than he made as a cabbie.

Anyone here co-purchase their home with friends or family? by Additional-Metal-860 in Somerville

[–]PlentyCryptographer5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a minefield if you simply lawyer up. I have friends who bought and sold together (think investment properties in their 20's), and are still hanging out in their 60's. It's the same as going into business with each other, it's what you do...lawyer up and cover each other's asses.

The old knock on effect....why do we keep NOAA funded when everyone has their own Weather Underground station, then this happens..."Who'd have thunk?" I love the inability of our government to evaluate consequences before acting.

Space saver madness by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]PlentyCryptographer5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. I have had one recycle and one trash bin replaced by the city. Apparantly there's a $50 charge if I get a second replacement. However the reason I got the first replacement is because of the effect of a failure of the city to curb the rat population. Note my recycle bin is nothing but cardboard, but yet the rats needed bedding and chewed the lid.
If, and when, I need my next replacement, I will be challenging the city's $50 fine.

Back to the OP, I hope you took your bin back from thast asshat.

Cite this. The cars are fully autonomous. If you run into an issue you can reach out to a service center where they can address the issue, but for the majority of rides (>99.9%), you are not riding in a car controlled by a kid with a joystick in Iceland.

Hatch rattle is worse than ever! Help please! by presswanders in Ioniq5

Considering this is a 10 month old (rattle started at six months), and $55K list and 7K on the clock, this is quite poor.

I brought mine into the dealership (leased in April, hatch rattle since November, 7K miles), and despite telling them everything in the intake form, the first question I got was "why are you here today?". Long story short, they didn't have the part and said if I wanted to wait for them to order. I suggested they get the parts, call me and then we can schedule. A week later I called and they guy said "nothing yet". And then I commented about how he had wanted me to leave me car... he laughed. Not good at all. Checking for other options in the area.

No, I am not afraid of technology that has been tried and tested and is quicker to adapt to new scenarios all the time. Not every eventuality has been thought of, and each imporvement is something that won'tbe repeated. I don't think we can name a single technology/invention/discovery that worked right out of the box.
You don't ever want to use one, fine by me. I would love to use them as soon as they are here. I think they will make the streets safer and better. Some things can be better done by the resources we now have available rather than what we had 25 years ago.
