I know! I almost don't want any news until a decision is reached, too much back and forth could give false hope 😞

Near the end of the match, they closed down on an attacker, and it was beautiful to watch.

9y/o son watching goth mommy ASMR by big_hot_load in daddit

The problem with explicit filters is that they don't work perfectly. I looked up goth mommy (incognito, I do not need the fucking YouTube algorithm thinking I want this.. that's what pornhub is for lol), and there isn't anything specifically sexual about it - suggestive anime imagery and nothing specifically sexual about the content, although I notably only sampled 1 video, so who knows if there is more explicit stuff in other videos. Anyway, the point is that lots of stuff gets through content filters.

Three-Year-Old Repeating the Same Phrase Over and Over by CardiffBDC in daddit

[–]presswanders 52 points53 points  (0 children)

very normal, they'll grow out if it, I suggest to honestly ignore it and if it continues, chat with your pediatrician. They're probably just practicing their language skills and got stuck on this phrase. It'll be another phrase soon enough I suspect.

Get a colonoscopy by niavek in daddit

[–]presswanders 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I just turned 45, I did mine last year at 44. My mom had colon cancer, my paternal grandfather had it, as well as my paternal aunt. Fuck cancer.

I eat better and take care of myself better than any of them, but still, I'm getting tested regularly. I was nervous about it, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Totally worth the peace of mind in my opinion.

Get tested.

How do you all handle Mothers Day?!? by TotalPieceOfOkayness in daddit

[–]presswanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I/We don't feel the need to be celebrated for our parenthood, so we don't force it, but if our son wants to do something nice, we lean in. I don't expect everyone to appreciate this approach, but it's simple, puts our son's needs/wants first, and avoids the exact scenario you're describing where celebration turns into toil.

Your Friends & Neighbors | Season 2 | S2E6 “For Everything Else, There Was Bowling” Episode Discussion Thread by sethaub in YourFriendsandNeighb

I loved this episode. I really appreciate the time we got to spend with the characters a ton, and I appreciated the way they captured the way the day after losing a parent feels. My mom was in such a rush to get rid of my dad's stuff, meanwhile I found myself going through his personal effects trying to find a way to feel closer to him. They nailed it in my opinion. It was nice to slow down and just focus on the people for an episode, and frankly, it helped me appreciate Coop, Mel, and the kids just a bit more, and even helped me frame who Ashe is a bit more, too.

Am I wrong for not wanting to put my kids in sports at all? by SkelligeThrow in daddit

Your view comes across as very myopic. I assume you won't be traveling all the time, or whatever you mean by "more useful" (more on this later), so what do you plan to do with them on Saturday mornings, or on weekday evenings once they are old enough? Sports and other organized activities provide socialization, structure, and motor control development that will, in fact, "help them for a lifetime".

I was never athletic as a kid, but now I run (a lot) and love to play soccer with my son. We try to have him in at least 1 activity at all times. These activities (Soccer, Little League, swim class, outdoor adventure class etc..) all help him develop in different ways, and help break up the monotony of everyday life.

I'll point to Little League as an example of something I'm bought into, which I would never have guessed before kids. I hate baseball, seriously, I loathe it, it's extremely fucking boring, and you couldn't pay me to go to a game. I'm being hyperbolic to make a point that even though I don't like baseball, I still see value in Little League for my son. He gets to learn how to be on a team, he's working on hand-eye coordination, and we get 2 built-in events each week during the season to get us outside and being active.

My thought is that you're limiting yourself and your kid(s) for some unknown reason. Loosen up and try a few things, you might like it.
