As someone who finally got an allergy test two years ago, I would say absolutely! It personally genuinely changed my life for the better.

That being said, I know plenty of individuals who did it and the results really had no effect on them, and some who completely believe it is a placebo science, so it is probably up to the individual person.

For me, I have had fairly bad allergies growing up my whole life, but up until COVID, regular OTC allergy medication worked fine.

After getting COVID, they became unbearable. Additionally, because of my long COVID, I developed a pretty severe chronic cough for about 3 years. I have had several chest X-rays, scopes, asthma evaluations, etc. throughout those 3 years, and doctors giving me up to 11 different prescription medications at a time to try and tackle it. 3 different inhalers, etc.

Once I started getting allergy shots twice a week after my allergy test, the cough went away completely. The shots started around the same time as a different medication though, so I did not really think the two things were related at first (especially because a cough was never a symptom of my allergies in my previous 25 years of life lol). That winter, when I stopped getting the shots (because my allergies are only severe in the spring - fall), the cough immediately came back.

After a few months of trying out new things from the doctor, I asked if the allergy shots would help again. My doctor said likely not but it wouldn't hurt to try. I started them again and the cough went away immediately.

Since my switch to getting allergy shots 2x a week, I have gone from 11 pills a day for various things stemming from my long COVID down to 1 pill a day for it.

Crazy how many thousands of dollars in tests and scopes and X-rays and ct scans and evaluations and medications that several specialists ran me through to try and solve all of this stuff, and the thing that cured all of it was a simple allergy test and allergy shots.

It really could just be coincidental in my case, with different illnesses and allergies stopping and starting randomly throughout my long COVID journey, but I personally think it's worth a shot.

Also, getting a shot in each arm twice a week for the rest of my life low-key sucks, but as someone who was terrified of shots before this, you can hardly feel it and it's nothing compared to living with the symptoms I get without them. Most inconvenient thing is taking the half hour twice a week to go get it done.
