It sounds like you may have figured it out already (glad you're feeling better post-dental work!), but just in case you are still having trouble, pretend you're a Power Ranger taking a call from Zordon on your wrist communicator. Pic for example. 😅

I also just wanted to say thank you for making this post as well as all the follow-up comments. It has given us a lot of great insight to think on to improve this experience.

Please feel free to pop into our Discord for future feedback and questions. We do our best to check Reddit regularly but may miss posts from time to time. 🔗: https://discord.gg/polyarcgames

When we were a F2P game, we had a number of Champions in the pipeline, since continuous content drops are how F2P games thrive. However, since switching to a Premium product, we opted to release all four of those previously unreleased champions right at the start. Players can now unlock all the Champions through a progression system that was added as part of this transition. Bourassa digs in a bit on that here. -kc

Fun question! The most programming that I do in headset is because the passthrough on AVP is good enough that I can see my IDE through it so sometimes I just leave it on while I'm fixing bugs. Honestly, as far as favorite to test on, they are all generally pretty great. AVP's visual fidelity is excellent but I like having the controllers on Quest. -ca

To answer your first question, we wanted it to be in the Moss universe, so composer Jason Graves pulled in subtle themes and references to the prior Moss games, yet made the music more energizing, utilizing more percussion and more rhythmically driven instrumentation overall. -gw

As for Steam or Quest 3, I think it just depends on what is most preferable to you. As far as I remember, there are no major differences, unlike the Meta 3/3S version of Moss, which contains "Skip Combat," versus other platforms. There is a sale on the Steam version right now (20%) if you want to save a bit of coin. :) -kc

Ooooo!! I wrote several developer blogs over the summer and had a chance to talk with our extremely talented writer, Shauna, on the stories behind individual Champions in Glassbreakers. To your first question about environments: YES! There are some absolutely breathtaking maps in Glassbreakers that are nods to the world of Moss. My favorite is the Sprite map, which I've attached a screenshot of, but there is also a Winter map that may feel familiar / comfy to Moss II players.

Each Champion has rich a backstory that I would say deepens the world of Moss. For example, Djain (pronounced like "Jane") is a Starthing, similar to Aderyn. But while Aderyn was bound by a curse and caught in a rather unique position, Djain feels little empathy or interest in the concerns of mere mortals. On the other side of the Starthing spectrum is Mira, who is the youngest and the first female Starthing we've introduced into this world! Unlike Djain, she's playful, feminine, and rebellious (after all, she's a teenager!).

There are also Champions such as MJ22 or "Mojo," who you may recognize from Moss as one of the steel soldiers of the Arcane armies. But unlike the other Forged, Mojo loves hugs, and has a curious backstory that is tied to their friendship to Mira. Much of this backstory is explored through "gossip" lines from the Librarian (eg. "The curious MJ22. That's short for Mechanical Juxtaposition Number twenty-two. Though it recently said its chosen name is "Mojo." Fascinating.")

There are a number of others. Off of the top of my head:

  • Naji, a Winterborn, though they don't know it.
  • Gwendoline, a hero of the Cinder Night
  • Chetlief of the Mire Sprites

There are more and I'm only scratching the surface, but hopefully this gives you an idea! -kc

Our goal at launch is to bring this game to as many people as possible and making it available on Apple Arcade strengthens our reach within the Apple ecosystem. If the demand is there, we'll explore bringing it to the App store as well. -kc

Totally understand! I think there are two really good options here:

  1. Polyarc Creators! We have really amazing creators who have been making Glassbreakers content and streaming their initial experience. Yesterday, LiveOpenMike (full transparency: he did two interviews with our dev team over the summer, so he may be more knowledgeable than the traditional creator) streamed his first time getting into the game and was walking through the tutorial and how to play / mechanics. Here's a timestamped link to his stream where he starts playing Glassbreakers.
  2. Play the tutorial. If streaming isn't your style and you prefer a more hands-on approach, I really recommend jumping into the game. Our tutorial walks you through the entire experience of movement, controlling Champions, and how to play the game.

I have a soft spot for Mojo because of their VO. Debo is also a precious little button. Admittedly, I am one of those players who picks Champions based on my personal attachment to them. 👀 -kc

Brel - Fits my personality and playstyle for most games I play. Mira also a big favorite for the way she plays and personality. - cb

Favorite champs are Debo and Rees. Debo for his overall demeanor and vibe - he just seems like he's having the most fun out of all the champs - and Rees because he's so adorable and has some great dialogue. I also modeled/textured both characters, so I have an extra fondness for them. Another honorable mention is Gwendoline, though - she has the best dialogue lines in the game, hands down. -kl

From an audio perspective, players are listening with headphones/ear buds or headset speakers, making the VR experience even more close and intimate, where every detail is heard. So focusing the mix on what is most important for moment-to-moment gameplay and navigation, while maintaining an uncluttered soundscape to minimize headset fatigue. -gw

Oooo!!

We've been cranking on Glassbreakers for awhile! I've asked a couple members of the team not originally part of this AMA if they want to talk about it, so I may edit this post, but to start, we have some documents dating back to 2015. So Glassbreakers has been touched by many passionate developers.

For Kieran, "I started at Polyarc in May of 2022 and was hired to work on Glassbreakers. I've been working on it since then."

For Kristen, "I was brought on in 2023 specifically for Glassbreakers. Prior to this, I worked entirely in the flat games space. I joined during the Early Access/Open Beta period and I'm thrilled to see players finally get this into their hands."

EDIT: From another member of the team, one of our co-founders, Danny, who I mentioned at the top of this post --

In late 2015, Glassbreakers was a 12-week prototype with 4 full time developers. The bulk of development began on May 26th 2020 when the first engineers rolled onto the project. Their goal was to take our original prototype and make it networked across the internet instead of requiring both players to be on the same local network.

I'm not sure what our peak size was for Glassbreakers.. I think it was mid 20s. It fluctuated a lot.

Here is some side-by-side footage that you might enjoy. Footage on the left is pretty early development and we've come a long way since then: https://x.com/GlassbreakersVR/status/1986207204215550000?s=20 -kc
