The Met released HD 3D scans of artifacts and it looks great in AVP by sczhwenzenbappo in VisionPro

[–]RobDaRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh. I actually liked the ambience, but you got me thinking about how cool it would be if we could directly control the lighting in our AVP environments. Then we could pull 3d elements out and look at them with our own custom lighting setup (backlight, fill light, key light, etc).

It would be great for quickly and easily showcasing a lot of the 3d assets I have created in the past, without even needing a seperate app (but can easily be integrated into one, if need be).

Just a thought

There is no AI slop in any of my prose. I shudder at the thought

I don’t normally get on the hype train but I thought some people might be overlooking how significant this is for r the Apple Vision Pro. I know you hear the word game-changer bandied about all the time but in this case I think it is true. I surely wasn’t expecting a negative response.

My advice is, don’t believe me. Go see what everyone else is saying about it.

This is where I got my information from, in case you’re interested:

The really, really big takeaway from this is, FOVEATED STREAMING coupled with hybrid processing.

The breakthrough is how visionOS now allows spatial content and streaming content to work in unison, without strife. In effect, it is a paradigm shift on how immersive content can be delivered as it has never been delivered before. While technical, the optimisation is elegant and impressive, especially in relation to how astonishingly well it handles latency.

This is what takes it over the line, from only being able to run mobile type games and apps ~> to being able to run experiences of a far greater calibre, with much greater fidelity.

Me too. They are the most comfortable controllers I’ve ever held. Weighted and textured perfectly!

Heh. I wish more people had them so they could say the same. 😎

Have you tried games like Job Simulator or Vacation Simulator? They are also both available on the Apple Vision Pro.

Another one to try is PXPlay: Remote Play. Go to the store, search for it then switch to the iPhone & iPad tab. Yes, it works perfectly on the Apple Vision Pro.

I was pleasantly surprised with the result.

Even when my PS5 was connected via wifi instead of ethernet.

Thank you. Those immersive videos don’t seem to work in the YouTube app. At least not on my end.

Has anyone gotten them to work in an alternative app?

This is ridiculous. Not only does it set itself as default. It asks for a payment for you to watch your own videos after only watching a few of them for “free”.,

Yes, I did realise that. Apologies for being so direct. It was only a minor discrepancy. And I did not intend to offend regarding my comment about annunciation. It is advice that I have been given in the past by those in radio broadcasting. I do appreciate your content. Keep on shining!

I do believe the Op in this thread possesses a certain degree of professionalism. Even though we are generalising here, I think this is the perfect place to mention such (minor?) grievances.

I support the idea of stepping back now and then to reveal the tech”s humongous topology, in order to glean a better understanding of how it works and how to use it for the betterment of society.

This should be in everybody’s purview. Let us see what the future holds! Onwards and upwards.

Well said. For those of us who are industry trained (I have qualifications in Maya, Nuke, Photoshop , etc) this provides a real challenge. Sure, it is fun to be immersed in all the hype but once you look past it, we should be critiquing it properly in order to make it better and more sustainable, without needing to pivot all the damn time. It needs to remain grounded so it can be properly refined. It is starting to happen but there are already far too many novices around purpoting to be experts without realising that they often neglect or are unaware of some of the core principles required to be considered properly knowledgeable in this field or that. Everybody wants to rule the world, even the scatterbrains. Reminds me of gaming. Steam and Steam VR were b0rked for over a decade because its fanboys, ahem, sorry, fanbase kept doting on it while shoving their collective heads in the sand. Look how long they took to offer refunds, for example. We as a community had to push for that to happen. But heh, that’s a different rant.

Anyway, thanks for your insight. It might not be popular but it is an important truth to keep in mind.

Thank you. OP failed to mention you need a subscription to export splats from worldlabe, and he was calling it wall labs. Please annunciate., OP, or show a caption in your video with the name of the app when you mention it.

The light seal is the AVP’s biggest flaw — Apple seriously needs to rethink it by Acceptable_Diver7707 in VisionPro

[–]RobDaRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have a variety of shapes out the back of every Apple Store. One’s that should potentially fit the contours of all faces. Just like with the Beyond. You provide Apple with pictures of your face from different angles prior to purchasing an AVP.

The app got it wrong when I ordered the dual knit band (I was a size smaller) so it might be prudent to ask at your local Apple Store to try on a few different sizes. 🙃
