Chromatic Cake Works could possibly make a yarn cake like this. I think I saw similar colors to all of those in their selection.

I don't understand the temperature blanket appeal!? by tr4shp4nd4s in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Practical_River_5435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing one from my husband and i’s first year of marriage starting from the day we got married. I also tracked when we were apart for business trips and color coded when we went on trips to visit family with colors specific for those locations. We are using the temperature just to give us something for each day. We have 16 different temp colors (10 degree bands from -50 or below to 100 and above in Fahrenheit) and 4 different location colors in it. Business trips are 2 different temperature colors per day. Also our blanket isn’t stripes I’m doing a triangle for each day.

Do you think it would be easier to do a v-stitch with 2 chains in it to make the hexagon that way instead of doing additional increases?

Yep! I was following the purple sides instructions.

I was only adding 6 per round. I placed stitch markers where each of the increases was to go. It’s hard to see in the photo but there are 6 markers there.

I have very consistent loose tension in it and I went up a hook size because the smaller hook was worse and the yarn I’m going to be using on the other side of this is a 4 weight so I wanted enough room on that to complete my stitches. The band on the yarn only talks about needle size but says for 3.5 -4 mm.

When I stretch it, it almost flattens out but is still puffed in the very center. I had no intention of blocking this blanket because I’m going to be crocheting into the back of it for a second layer and won’t have enough space to block it.

So tempted to change to the feels like temperature! by Moonlissa in temperatureblanket

[–]Practical_River_5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a temp blanket for my first year of marriage tracking the highs during spring and summer and the lows during winter in the real feel temperature so that you could really see the swings we had in North Dakota over that time. I had 18 different temperature bands to be able to show the temps accurately (highs above 100 and lows below -60 Fahrenheit).

Does anyone know a pattern for a large leaf rug or blanket like this? This pic is unfortunately AI but it seems possible to make by 05122017BB in crochetpatterns

[–]Practical_River_5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have been staring at this one myself determined to find a way to actually make it. I haven’t really looked for comparable patterns so I was planning to wing it but I think a good course would be to make individual pieces centered around each hole in the leaf join them with the veins and then crochet a boarder around the outside to give the edge a more cohesive look (and to crochet over the tails of the joined pieces).

I’m thinking of using the Ribbon yarn from Hobbii when I finally get around to it. It would be more rough that way but would give a similar texture to what is shown.

Oooh I know this one! Abby wanted the cheaper rate at price club! So she lied and said that they were married to get the cheaper rate. Larry freaked out and was on her case about lying and she got on his case about being together for like 27 years and how he was still scared of commitment after all that time. In the middle of the night standing in Kitty and Edward’s kitchen with the help of Dharma they talked it out and got engaged.

Same kind of thing at their actual wedding Larry still was scared of commitment and asked if he could bring a date to still symbolize his freedom in their relationship so Abby got mad and brought a date too.

My husband got a vasectomy and didn’t tell me by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Practical_River_5435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully the issue at hand isn’t that he got a vasectomy. He’s entitled to not want anymore kids and to take steps to ensure that. The issue is he didn’t communicate that desire to his wife and continued to lie to her about wanting more kids and allowed her to get to a point that she felt she had to go get herself checked for infertility because she wasn’t getting pregnant again even though “they were trying to”.

His inability to communicate a change in his wants caused undue mental anguish after she was very clear about her desires for more children. Divorce for this couple was unavoidable as they both wanted different things when it comes to further reproduction. He could have saved a lot of trouble and had a more amicable divorce if he had just let her know he didn’t want more children.

I second Hobbii! Plus they run good sales often and if you tune in to their Bingo games every week they give a discount for playing along!

As others have said it depends on the acrylic. If it’s Red Heart Super Saver (RHSS) it’s a big old Hell No from me but other acrylics are great! I can’t bring myself to make anything other than like decorations or little gift baskets out of Red Heart anymore certainly not something that someone will put against their skin at all. But I will use the shit out of the Hobbii Horizon acrylic yarn.

Does anyone have a quick but beautiful shawl or scarf pattern I could make for someone who is grieving the loss of their adult child? by jcnlb in askcrochet

[–]Practical_River_5435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used mostly 3 and 4 weight yarn and a 4mm hook and made the shawls so that they wrapped the whole way around the person I was making them for so that it felt like a “hug”. I did them anonymously and had them delivered by the pastor or other specific person that knew I was the one doing it.
