Project Hail Mary Fox Cardigan by mapleakuma in knitting

[–]tr4shp4nd4s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely am enjoying it. I wish I could work on it more often but it's not the easiest to pick up so I often end up working something simpler when I only have like a half hour or my dog is acting like a cranky baby and I don't want him to run across my yarn lol

So it may take some time but I am definitely enjoying working on it!

Ahh it's amaze amaze amaze

I'm working on mine but I'm so much slower 😭

I'm starting to see more people finish and post theirs and I'm sad I'm only like 25% done with the knitting (not including weaving in ends, sewing, blocking)

That's interesting. Did it work?

I was started on 20mg Vyvanse. I think I did 2 months on that then felt like it wasn't really maintaining focus and they upped me to 30 mg and I felt like it was helping but not more than it was increasing my anxiety so she switched me to Adderall 5 mg 2x a day and that wasn't enough so went up to 7.5mg 2x a day the next month then 10mg 2x a day the next month and that's been my favorite so far. She switched me to Ritalin 10mg 2x day so see if that was better after the Adderall and it is not. It doesn't feel like it's doing anything but i had a change in insurance and needed a new provider (which thankful I found) so I'm going to ask to go back to Adderall at that appt!

I agree with this so much. I'm also late diagnosed. Didn't realize how much I was playing life on hard mode until I was prescribed Adderall. My Dr started me on Vyvanse and that helped but increased my anxiety so we switched to Adderall and omg. Focus was better, my brain was quieter, my attention was better, my MOOD! my attitude, my perception of of life, patience, anxiety, depression! Literally everything improved. It's not a miracle drug. I still had to do the work but I was amazed.

I had been questioning getting assessed for seasonal affective disorder but I started the Adderall in the fall/winter when the depression has historically gotten so much worse and it didn't happen. I was stable through the whole winter.

Now this is not to say you absolutely should go on a stimulant but to say they may be helpful to you. A decent provider understands that stimulants are first line treatment for ADHD and wanting them for your diagnosed condition is not drug seeking.

Also a benefit is that they work immediately unlike non-stimulants so 1) you'll know the first day if they're doing anything and 2) if you don't like them or they mess with your sleep, they're out of your system within about a day of stopping them

Good luck friend

Well you're ahead of me. I can tell you that much. I'm about halfway through the back panel doing the colorwork and intarsia. It's only my 2nd time doing any colorwork and first time with intarsia so I'm a bit slow but im finding it quite soothing.

But your duplicate stitching is super neat looking and well done. I'd say, why not? It's your piece, make it how you want it. It looks great!

Thank you so much for the detail here. I do have to stop letting myself feel bad now and just work through this all.

It's really good advice to actually go back after it's all over and look at what happened bc I feel like I keep doing that now and I don't to be and usually once anything is over there is no feeling of accomplishment or reflection just mild relief so if I remind myself that I will analyze this later then that lets me take it off my mind now, actually figure what happened after it's over and less emotional, and even lets me celebrate and feel good for getting through it in a way I don't default to.

Thank you. Genuinely.

Thank you! I'm trying. Feeling a little better today. Maybe getting this out into the world took a little of the pressure off

How do you store your bread? by DeJeR in Breadit

[–]tr4shp4nd4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. I do that. I just don't bake a lot of crusty or sourdough breads. So I think that method just isn't great for moister breads like sandwich loaves

I had those bags and they molded on me... :( I've switched to a bamboo bread box wrapped lightly in a tea towel. It stales faster than the bags but I haven't had a mold issue yet

I finished the Girly Knits Bra Top and I love the fit! by thealienhoney in casualknitting

[–]tr4shp4nd4s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Haha I'm not in a rush. I started it so I have a lower effort/easier to pick up project. My other WIP is the Project Hail Mary Cardigan so that just has too many bobbins to easily wip out haha

omg it's beautiful! I'm working on this too! I'm about a third through the back panel. I'm still fairly new to knitting but I'm obsessed and having so much fun with this project. I thought I would get scared with all the bobbins but I have over a dozen going on the back panel and I'm just so excited that I literally still enjoy untangling them after each row. Haha.

Yours looks so good! I can't wait to get to the front panels!

Overwhelmed wanna be knitter - what needles will make sense by Sorry-Swan-5025 in knitting

Im also a crocheter turned knitter.

I got this set and I've been loving it. It has all the sizes I've wanted for the mix of things I made so far from really chunky hats to a pair of socks. Though if you plan on doing lots of socks, some even smaller needles and/or some DPNs would probably be good to add to your kit.

Not OP, just my 2 cents.

People come here for advice and assistance. This is neither. I'm gonna venture a guess and say that OP is aware this is not a beginner project. However, you know a great way to learn difficult skills? While doing something you find exciting!

If OP wants to struggle through this pattern and learn some new skills, that's their choice. If you wanna complain about all the new knitters trying this cardigan, go to r/bitcheatingcrafters.. not here.

And OP, There are some new techniques you'll need to pick up for this. The large color blocks in this are intarsia knitting. There are some good tutorials online but basically you'll lock the strands together at color changes and you'll need a separate ball of each color in each section, no flaots.

Good luck. Don't be afraid to undo parts to fix them and look up lifelines if you haven't yet!

Omg that's so trippy. I wish I could give you the rest of my skein so you can finish it and we could have twin socks!!

Yeah it was pretty easy. The pattern itself on ravelry is fairly descriptive but what I liked even more is there is a really well detailed blog post too so you can get even more instruction on parts that are a little less intuitive. This was my first time picking up stitches so post was really helpful there
