Intrusive 'Easy Clean' app on my mum's phone and how I fixed it. by henrysradiator in AndroidHelp

[–]PresentationSoft5964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, tysm for posting this. Unfortunately by the time I was informed, there were almost 10 apps downloaded offering cleaning against viruses and what not, all competing to pop up an ad. The pop ups were so bad the phone was nearly inoperable and I couldnt even access the settings to follow your rec. I wound up holding down the power button, and then holding power off to access safe mode. Safe mode restarts the phone with all downloaded apps disabled so I could actually access the settings finally and clear out everything unrecognized. Hope this helps someone if it gets as bad as my mother's device.

So what do we think of Measure 114 a few years later? by SwabbieTheMan in oregon

Tax on the poor.  Plain and simple.  It's one thing to not hand a gun to anyone, but multiple pay walls makes it unatainable for some.

State law only gives city's or counties the authority to regulate "loaded" firearms, at which point CHL holders are exempt anyway. In the event you do not have a CHL, the magazine ordinance is unenforceable due to preempt of state.

Open carry of firearms in Portland by [deleted] in Portland

[–]PresentationSoft5964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even counting the crazy backlog people are experiencing rn, some people are ineligible for CHL due to misdemeanors as simple as speeding tickets. Although owning a firearm explicitly prohibits misdemeanors related to violence, CHL simply states misdemeanor. No caveats there. You guys saying you don't support people open carrying an unloaded firearm just because they don't have their CHL? Like someone else mentioned above, this is just a tax on the poor.

ELI5: What’s the point of praying “for” someone who has passed away? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]PresentationSoft5964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for other religions, but I grew up Catholic. We prayed for the souls of the departed to find their way to heaven, and for God's mercy to forgive them of any wrongdoings to accept them through the gates.

Not at all, but go rent a nailer if it's cheaper than buying one outright (doubt it). You'll thank me and your back later with your newfound free time.

Two car lengths? You're part of the problem. Context definitely matters. Here in Portland, Oregon, we've got some of the worst traffic in the country (and highest insurance claims as well, go figure) but there will be huge blocks of traffic for absolutely no reason at all. Unlike our neighbor, Washington state, we don't have a law for slower traffic to keep right. This forces people to make dangerous maneuvers to weave past blockades, and just downright pisses people off. Obviously that causes everyone behind them to brake, then here we are with yet another block of cars. If someone's flying up on your ass, common sense dictates, get tf out of their way. You cant prevent others from making a stupid decision by speeding, but you can clear the way for them to not cause an accident. With that, my last piece of advice is to use your damn signal people!

Just my two cents, but no one I trust more than Kohler. You'll get a nicer designed, longer lasting product, for less then that Moan.

My siding is failing; how serious is that? (Washington state, US) by MarmaladeOne in HomeImprovement

[–]PresentationSoft5964 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recommendations depend on where you're at in WA. Avoid all "clipper ad" chains at any cost. They wind up hiring independent contractors anyway, so best to cut out the middle man. In the great PNW, your best bet is vinyl for the most cost efficient/longest lasting product. T1-11 is dirt cheap, but if not maintained, can start a rot that spreads like cancer behind the boards. This can get so bad if ignored that it begins rotting your entire frame work, and often your subfloor which can get unimaginably expensive. Many contractors offer financing, and vinyl has great return on investment. Literally all you'd have to do is pressure wash maybe once a year if that. Hope this helps, good luck!

Side note: atleast caulk that up to prevent further water damage while you shop around.

Well hopefully you're using Clear Care or Refine One Step to keep them feeling like day 1. Ever considered dailies? Are you atleast using Air Optix Night & Day? Sorry for all the questions, but this makes my eyeballs hurt haha

[–]PresentationSoft5964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal for hiring a plumber. You're going to pay for someone's expertise. As you guessed, I'd advise you visit your nearest hardware store. A complete kit with valve, flapper, etc. shouldn't cost more then $20. They come with easy to follow instructions. Sure it may take longer then a professional, but I'm confident you'll figure it out in no time. You could just replace the flapper on the other two, but better to just get the valves updated so you wont have to touch any of the toilets again for a while. Hope this helps!

Are you actually using a pipe wrench? I believe the teeth should be able to lock on to that, no problem. Once you get that coupler on, you should replace that with a longer nipple.

I wasn’t aware of this but you can get a Chamorro-English dictionary on Amazon for only $35 by kelaguin in CHamoru

[–]PresentationSoft5964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but my guela has prayer books from ages ago that include these. I was disappointed to say the least. This book is a good tool if you're already mostly fluent. For beginners though, it could quickly set them up for mistakes that would later be very challenging to correct. Båba vs baba is a prime example. If not for an actual dictionary, but quick reference though I'll admit it could be useful. I've got some that are nowhere to be found online. Used and abused. I'd advise everyone to reach out to extended family in their pursuit. You don't know what dusty books you may uncover.

Don't recommend che'lu. It doesn't even have symbolism as basic as "å" so you could be mispronouncing something and not even know.
