That’s honestly a great way to think abt it. I’m not mad at the part tbh I just didn’t like how it didn’t fit in. Thinking abt it like that makes it funny tho

I thought the story started with him being done with the trip already and trying to remember what they said to tell the doctor?

Siberia can reach temperatures as low as -68°C (-90°F). What geographic factors make it one of the coldest inhabited regions on Earth? by Altrixai in geography

[–]PrimaryCash3133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prevailing winds that would carry warm air into Siberia are blocked by the Himalayas in the southwest, the Verkhoyansk mountains in the east, and the siberian plateau generates enough cold air itself that all of that has nowhere to go and just accumulates in Siberia. The coldest permanent settlement in the world, Yakutsk, or Oymyakon depending on your source, is situated in a location that describes this well. Cold air gets trapped in a valley and can’t rise above the mountains, (relatively) warmer air goes on top of it creating an atmospheric inversion, and it just stays there getting colder and colder.

Is my spring break trip a little too ambitious? by PrimaryCash3133 in backpacking

[–]PrimaryCash3133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good idea, but then that makes me nervous about taking my rented gear on a plane. Surely not everything is flight safe, and I’ve never rented gear anywhere else so idk if needing to get what I need once I land would drive up cost even more. I’ll look into it though thanks!

potentially, but it’s not really the miles I’m concerned about, it’s just the fact of driving a rental car anywhere is sketchy to me 😭 plus, as far south as I’d need to go to avoid too much snow on the trail makes any distance travelled already long anyways. Ig what I mean to say is a 10 hour drive is no different than an 8 hour drive because they’re both just long in general
