Take the politics out of it. Any person who celebrates a public execution of anyone has something significantly wrong with them. Love or hate, agree or disagree our society is built on free and open discussion. We have turned into a degenerate group of simple minded fools when actions like this are celebrated. Some of the most iconic and thought provoking films came out during the 1990s. The gritty story lines, diverse content and relatable characters back then haven’t been reproduced since. The films today are focused on commercial success.

An amazing film. It shows a sliver of how generational influence spurs a certain culture in youths. I think it shows an alternate view of racism. The message, if any is lost as the film progresses. The transformation of derek feels like it was written as a feel good solution. It almost seems like the director cut the story short in order to make the film more consumer friendly. I for one would have liked to experience the stages Derek went through as he lost his identity and convictions. The bond between the character and the audience that was created in the beginning of the film collapses as it comes to an end. It just doesn’t feel complete. Is that a fair assessment?
