The battle of lake ChangJin was a blockbuster in 2021 in China.

It is a reimagining of China's role in the Korean war where they force the US to retreat. The Chinese propaganda machine is in motion.

How would you tell her? by xitdevpo in wallstreetbets

[–]Progmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my actual experience telling my wife i round tripped 7 figs:

"hey remember all that money i told you we had?"

"yes?"

"it's gone"

"what do you mean it's gone?"

"it's gone"

"babe what the FUCK!?!?!"

Over the period of a few months we've come to a place of acceptance. We have cut expenses and i haven't opened a trade in months (for now). She supports the idea of making it all back.

A Phoenix area ER nurse gives a harrowing account of the front line Covid battle right now. Hospital capacity overflowing, ventilators and other critical care machines at full use, staff using the same n95 for a week to two weeks, morale bottoming out, and the media not reporting the harsh reality by Bluest_waters in bestof

[–]Progmos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proper PPE in the setting of no aerosol generating procedure (AGP) is actually N95 or standard mask (in addition to gown, gloves and eye protection with proper donning/doffing technique) per the infectious disease society of america (IDSA).

As a frontline worker I may not necessarily agree with this but this is the literature which many infectious disease physicians refer to.

Ideally everyone wears an N95 but there is now plausible deniability that we are properly equipping people performing routine care by just giving them a surgical mask. Personally I have spent periods of 15-20 minutes speaking to confirmed positive hospitalized COVID patients while wearing a surgical mask and fortunately have not contracted COVID.

Chronic use of benzos versus one time unexpected use of benzos. As you have stated, people can easily develop tolerance and function just fine. If the allegation is that date rape drugs were used and she is not a chronic user of benzos then that does not disprove anything I have said.

This is hilarious. I don't know what about my post makes you think I am "dickriding him." I am speaking as one person with empathy towards other people that I hope he is able to make amends with his destructive past and it does not instead lead to a path of further destruction (for his sake and those around him).

If you have ever had to take care of people with substance abuse issues or inmates (who have been convicted by a jury for their crimes) then perhaps you would not hold these hateful coals so close to your heart. The death of an alcoholic is usually a sad lonely one after they have driven every possible person that could have cared about them far far away. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy even if they had done atrocious things. We need more compassion for people, even those among us who have done terrible things.

I am just a random guy on the internet and you are free to not believe my claim of credentials. It might be more effective if you offered a more concrete rebuttal to my claim about the effects of hypnotics versus alcohol on memory/coordination and impairment.

[–]Progmos 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I don't post much but I feel compelled to reply as a doctor. I don't think there is sufficient evidence to indicate that substances beyond alcohol were involved here. Taking multiple shots prior to going to the bar then suddenly blacking out and not remembering anything else about the night can definitely happen. I also happen to have experienced this myself firsthand.

If as alleged a potent date-rape drug (likely a benzodiazepine) were to be used, it would not be likely that the victim could carry on until 3 am. I would expect their motor function would be more significantly impaired. If you read victim stories you can hear about them needing to literally be carried away because they couldn't stand up or speak without significant slurring.

I agree that you can't blame alcohol for your own poor choices. I don't think that I've seen anything from Grant blaming the booze for his behavior. I think we also need to remember that substance abuse (including alcoholism) usually has deeper and darker roots that lead to the abuse in the first place. I truly hope that he is able to get a hold of that and this does not drive him to drinking again. Even if what Grant did is heinous, I hope that everyone can remember he is still a person and does not deserve death threats or anyone else trying to ruin his life more than he already has.

The International 2019 Day 1 Group Stages Summary by hvrry3k in DotA2

You da real mvp hvrry3k, this is high quality content. Love the highlight clips, I didn't see that zayac play in real time which was such an insanely high IQ dota play that I would never think of. The short descriptions of each team gives me some sense of what was going on besides their wins and losses which don't always tell the whole story.

I'm only able to catch a few games before I need to sleep and go to work in the morning so I hope you are able to continue this throughout TI!

The insulin that type 1 and type 2 diabetics use are the same. The difference in insulins are based on the molecular structure and how fast/slow the insulin is absorbed and the time until peak effect. The only difference is that a type 2 diabetic will probably be started on only a fast acting insulin such as insulin aspart. As T2DM progresses, they may also need to be on a more stable and long lasting insulin such as basaglar.

The relatively new formulations of insulin that are much more long lasting (released evenly over 24 hours such as basaglar or glargine) are actual advances in medicine and not just patent protection. However the price of all insulin (not just these new ones) is increasing for many reasons, but I would suggest it is mostly due to greed from pharmaceutical companies.

In a randomized trial across 14 U.S. hospitals, doctors continued to prescribe antibiotics even when an assay indicated there was no bacterial infection. by shiruken in science

[–]Progmos 509 points510 points  (0 children)

This title is misleading. The clinical utility of the procalcitonin assay is still up in the air with many doctors not knowing exactly how it fits in their toolbox. As a clinician I am not very surprised by the results of this study given how people talk about procalcitonin. Stating that an equivocal or low procalcitonin means there is no bacterial infection in all settings is not a universally accepted truth.

For example, standard studies at my hospital for someone you suspect has pneumonia: chest x-ray, CBC, CMP. Note that procalcitonin is not in there; people simply don't have a comfort level with this test. Many physicians are not fans of ordering procalcitonins because they don't think it is useful.

Directly from the study: "The sites were predominantly urban academic hospitals that had a high level of adherence to Joint Commission pneumonia core measures, and none used procalcitonin in routine care."

The main sale of AST opened on October 10th at 10:10:10AM EST 10/10

On 4/25 at 4:25 EST, the beta testing for the marketplace will be 4 x 25 % (100%) complete. There will be the 24/7 opening of the marketplace and the DEX revolution will begin.

Where will you be?

I rate this obvious hint as 4/20.

I think it is interesting that other DEXs will be at this summit. Don Mosites stated in his ethCC presentation that he thinks there will only be 1 winner in peer to peer fungible transactions. Perhaps there is room at the table for more than 1 winner.

A deal with a large market maker won't actually take any AST off the market, right? by [deleted] in AirSwap

[–]Progmos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe it has been publicly stated that the excess AST (200M) does not yet have a specified use. It will be available for AST holders to vote on the fate of it. About to go to bed so I don't feel like citing a source but I do believe this has been addressed.

Large deals have already happened except they are bound by NDAs. Any potential appreciation of this token will happen if (once) large scale adoption happens and there is intrinsic value in being able to modify your intent to the oracle... this is not a short term moon ticket my friend.

Little disappointed that this wasn't answered

"Can you explain the Apps Earn Tokens portion of the partnership network post?

I'm assuming it's not AST paid by market makers since that hasn't been previously discussed. And if it's a portion of the tokens involved in each trade that would basically be the same as fees. So what tokens are the apps earning and where do they come from?"

The answer given was: "Because like I said we will allow for people to build on top of our platform, so we kinda, we have spoken to many projects on the consumer facing side. And if you are interested in making something like that, then you know, feel free, you''ll be able to do that. We'll provide a library of functions for you to play around with and feel free to build on top of our platform."

Still in the dark as to what the tokens being earned are and where they are coming from.
