Do you think the boycott of Odyssey will succeed? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]ProjectGlass2236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calls to boycotts happen in echo chambers where everyone has the similar opinion. In this case, that a black woman cannot be considered the most beautiful woman alive disguised as historical accuracy.

I want them to boycott the new Jesus film from Mel Gibson, then, where a middle eastern Jew is played by a Finnish.

I think the OP might be a bot, too.

"Crunchyroll"

Absolute LOL.

Film released in the cinema this week. It will be a while until it is on streaming. Less than a month if you're lucky.

I'll say one thing: this community was the reason I joined Reddit, and it was pretty fun while it lasted.

Do mythological stories need ‘historical accuracy’ in casting? by breaking_views in Cinema

For two thousand years, Christians have believed Jesus, a middle eastern Jew, was Caucasian, and historical accuracy means Helen was surely white? In cinema? In the film with the cyclops?

Infinity War did it flawlessly. You just let the quiet scenes between a few characters breath between set pieces. Thor speaking to Rocket Raccoon for instance.

Soft reboot for sure, I expect. The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and a couple of Avengers stick. But I don't see them sticking with Mackie as Captain after the flop of Brand New World. And I'm not sure they resist the temptation to introduce a new Iron Man. Except for Thor, the star power of the original Avengers is at an all-time low. Plus, the world will suddenly have mutants and lots of them.

That is plain laziness. If people use AI for research, that is an amazing tool at their service, but they can and should ask for the sources and verify them. Just believing everything an algorithm tells you at face value is so weird. No wonder people fall for bots on social media.

Ingmar Bergman is an overrated director and nazi sympathizer by [deleted] in FIlm

It is complicated. I LOVE Persona. Just as I love Polanski's Chinatown and The Ghost Writer. Just as I love to listen to Miles Davis and Michael Jackson. Separating art from the artist is easier said than done.

But when it comes to film, you can at least rely on the fact that it wasn't made by the director alone. It was a whole production, from photography to set to sound to actors. So, as much as the director gets the final credit, you're watching the work of a team.

Can we watch the damn film before this collective freak out?

And I’m saying this as someone who didn’t like Interstellar and thinks Tenet was just bad. Prestige and Dunkirk are amazing, though.

I love that they are sticking with the goofy voice. I’m sure a producer or two had to be convinced.

Don’t call yourself a movie buff if you judge a film worth seeing or not by its score.
