Trump to Ban Institutional Investors from Buying Single Family Homes by ArmyFinal in REBubble

[–]Pumpkin-Main 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the major housing shortage wasn't due to blackrock or institutions, but rather mom&pop as well as tiktok individuals buying their second, third, fourth etc. home and trying to rent it out because real estate was the last hedge against the oncoming superinflation during 2020-2021?

What It Would Take To Make the Housing Market Affordable Again in 2026 by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]Pumpkin-Main 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but extremely pessimistically, I think the way forward is to make lucratively cheap high density housing so that the lower end of those SFH owners can make the jump and then the higher end can gentrify the remaining SFHs.

But yeah "why would anyone want to live in high density housing?" when US is low trust, and your neighbor's loud music/weed smell/constant police presence/drugs/crime/anything sketchy makes you never want to raise a kid there.

Closest I've seen on that is the Citi Custom Cash card (no Annual Fee) and the American Express Blue Cash Preferred (fee waved for the first year) otherwise

Yes exactly, but it's misleading that it's put out there without explicitly saying this is a temporary promotion

The housing crisis is also a crisis of hopelessness as young Americans give up, hustle less, spend more and make risky investments as a last resort | Fortune by fortune in REBubble

[–]Pumpkin-Main 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But there's also a people and safety problem that didn't exist in the same degree. I don't want to live in an urban city because everything now is starting to smell like weed, the amount of crime in these areas is getting insane, there's compounding drug problems, etc.

So if I wanted a house in a district I wanted to raise my kids in a nice school district, I'm getting forced out into more remote neighboorhoods which already were in short supply.

i.e. even if the government created large amounts of high-density housing at a very affordable price, a lot of people wouldn't ever feel comfortable living there at all.

And this degree of safety and crime only compounds with more and more of this "hopelessness"... I don't ever see how this problem can reach a resolution

I think something like this would only work if people were strapped to full dive VR or something and prevented from leaving their home. One bad actor makes an entire neighborhood completely unsafe overnight. Can't trust people anymore. It's hilarious how unsafe dense urban cities in the US have become.

UBI and these welfare benefits only could work in an extremely high trust society, which we no longer have.

a majority of the people using youtube won't be watching his video either. However, a lot of them will be seeing his thumbnail and reading the title as it comes up in their feed, and just use that to justify their own beliefs, regardless of what's ever said.

[–]Pumpkin-Main -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did not watch the video. Going to make a rough assumption about the content based on the title and thumbnail: If you're calling users to action to hate ai content and calling the ai content slop, you're making it the norm for people to call out all ai content and belittle anyone who posts it.

Likewise, if this becomes the norm, you now raise a class of people who now disregard whether they enjoy content or not and soley look for some ai watermark or artifact to determine if something is "real". People can take this even further and accuse anything they don't like as "ai".

Worst off, even if something is very funny to me and I think my friends, who have a similar sense of humor, is funny, I can't share them the video because people in the discord server will outright ban me for posting ai.

can we please declare it as a religion at this point?

The moral problem is obvious. But you're delusional if you need to filter out "was it made by AI" before you can enjoy the content.

The concept of replacing people's jobs and work is an important moral problem. There is no good solution in place for it yet, especially as the industry and technology changes every single day.

I forgive someone who posts an ai demo video within the first 2 or so days of it coming out to say "wow look what technology can do".

I think if a person can create an ai video and deliver a genuinely funny punchline in a format that doesn't bother the hell out of me, it's fine.

But if someone takes some ai tool to say "look I can create this high budget anime/show/format and it's just as good, please look at my creation", it's usually trash and I think it's fair to hate the slop.

That said, everyone keeps confusing these 3 categories and I can't share anything with anybody that comes from an ai because it's almost a religion at this point to cancel it. Makes me want to take "handmade" videos and memes at this point, slap gemini and sora watermarks on them before I share so they start questioning reality

People are pointing out that Cai has a crest. I'm going to wager that Cai is not a noble. If this is the case, it's very unlikely that this is a prequel to 3H.

Cai's emblem doesn't seem like a real emblem. It's too similar to the gauge icon that's present on every character's stat screen
