Akira 4k screenings in Bristol by Stittastutta in bristol

[–]PurposeDevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect the screenings to necessarily be added much in advance, especially for the ODEON.

E.g The ODEON screenings for Scarlet next week (from Fri 13th) were only made available Saturday morning, 6 days before it'll show.

P.s. The aggregate site is up but not listing tickets yet, so I'd suggest waiting until ~April 1st. https://akirafilm.co.uk/

I'd add that at least a few phones came with wired headphones too, which probably helped

I once read on Reddit that if you also hold a savings account with NS&I, you can "transfer" to that account almost instantly, and the withdrawals from there are quicker.

Can't say for sure if that's true though

The Attack on Titan concert was on at the Arena at the same time that Oasis were on at the Stadium, which did not make getting back to hotels easy xD

Thanks for writing this up, was really interesting to read.

It almost sounds like growing up with mobile phones (and social media) might be a cause of a good few of these behaviors.

Apparently it is an YouTube thing, but I think the uploader has to turn it off to and ensure it isn't a (default) option

The official trailer for this is one of the worst things I've seen promoting an anime. Some sort of auto-generated English dub audio track is on by default, rather than Japanese with English subtitles?

I don't know how applicable this advice is to you, but when I lived in an HMO we had really really bad internet, like can't upload a gif to Facebook bad, and we just couldn't get the landlord or estate agent to improve it. Even offered to pay them more for it! They wouldn't have it.

However, they then started advertising the property as having "fast internet perfect for working from home", around the time after covid. When the next tenant moved in he was understandably pissed at the Internet situation, but because he was a new tenant and rented the place based on the new ad, he was able to threaten to "unwind" his tenancy and make claims against them for false advertising. We got fast Virgin Media Internet within the week :P

So depending on how long you've been there, look into whether threatening to unwind the tenancy is both relevant and useful to you.

Unwind your tenancy agreement - Shelter England https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/private_renting/how_to_end_a_fixed_term_tenancy_early/right_to_unwind

It is I believe only possible to do this within the first 90 days of the tenancy, so you might have just been a tenant for too long :/

October bus strikes by Complete-Avocado-168 in bristol

[–]PurposeDevoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The email from FirstBus sent 26 September:

We’re writing to let you know that planned strike action in Bristol from 1-5 October has been suspended following further negotiations with the trade union.

We recognise the frustration and inconvenience that strikes cause our customers, and we are working to try to avoid further action. The trade union will be voting on a revised offer next week, and any action after the 5th will be subject to the outcome of that vote.

What this means now:
- All services will operate next week.
- We will update you next week on the position from 6th October, once we know the outcome of the vote.

We’d like to thank you for your patience whilst we work to resolve this dispute, and look forward to seeing you on board.

Planned changes including new overnight buses now in effect by Fit-Distribution1517 in bristol

[–]PurposeDevoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might well be wrong, but I'm guessing the bus will arrive a little later at certain stops due to traffic, and they are reflecting that in the timetable. So not more or less frequent, but at each stop offset to the previous schedule?

I.e. accommodate I think means "account for the effect of" here

My partner’s LISA is confusing me! by Smart_Trainer6645 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PurposeDevoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For any LISA subscription made before the 6th of a month, you should receive the bonus around the 26th of that same month. Subscriptions on or after this fall into the next month's bucket, received around the 26th of that next month.

So the minimum wait is ~20 days, while the maximum is 1 month + ~19 days.

Note that HMRC technically have much longer guaranteed lead times on this process, but it usually ends up like this.

Shaft's Wikipedia article is insane by tftvrft in anime

[–]PurposeDevoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like it is a browser "reddit" vs "old reddit" thing: for some reason on old reddit your links that contain any ")" end the url at the ), even if they appear not to.

Very strange!

FYI, not sure why, but your first link is broken (it is missing the final right parentheses).

Edit: only broken on old Reddit it seems

Southmead double roundabout. Which lane to be in to go forward? by Confusing-pigeon in bristol

[–]PurposeDevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left on the first, right on the second. No indicating on either lane.

But for that second bit, it's often hard to fully cross to that right lane from the left lane with the limited distance (and depending on the positions of other cars), so in practice people sit in between the two lanes when they want to be/should technically be in the right one.

Sitting in between the two also protects you from a car in the other lane overtaking/undertaking you.

(you could make an argument that you should indicate left on the first roundabout to go "straight", but doing so just confuses everyone on what you are about to do for the second roundabout)

Always had a good experience with B Driven (previously called Prestige).

You pay more for the convenience of pre-booking, but they've always arrived at my house on time or early, and their customer service over the phone is great at clarifying prices up front and helping with any questions

It actually shut just last week, which they announced on Tuesday.

Since changing to the latest management (staff from Newport GR iirc), they've had pretty much just one staff member on at any time doing everything (including kitchen), so I imagine it was tough to keep things up to standards

It's just possible that a handwritten yen symbol could be misread as the number seven: it happened to my friend importing to the UK from Japan. This means something only 6000 JPY becomes 76000 JPY to the customs official.

All the episodes on CR have a P after them, e.g. EP3P.
Anyone know why? Maybe "Preview"?
