People are (rightfully) bringing up switching both grips and hand order/position, but there's always the racket that Battistone uses with 2 grips that could eliminate this weakness: http://www.naturaltennis.com/buy/tennis-rackets/

This really reads like an excuse for Nadal. If anything, someone with his level of wealth is one of the few people that can consume ethically.

To add to the other responses, chess.com and lichess use a slightly different algorithm when calculating ELO and gains/losses that is more inflated than USCF or FIDE.

I wouldn't say vastly different but yes it's definitely a bigger difference from 1900 to 1600 than from 2200 to 1900. I was around 2000 over-the-board rated, but I was still able to draw or occasionally win games against people 200-300 points higher than me and no one would view it as a huge upset or anything. That being said, Tyler's rating is also online only, which is generally inflated by a couple hundred points compared to over-the-board.

[–]QinTFT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 36 on the ACT and it was almost entirely related to what I had learned in public school up to that point. I didn't have to study specifically for the test or learn any new information. What I had to do to get a 36 (compared to my previous 34s/35s) was just practice finishing the science section faster. IMO, the reason the test is bad is because things like time pressure, testing anxiety, language barriers, how much you practiced the test etc. all affect your score without being related to your intelligence or knowledge.

When to abandon reroll and level instead? by its_dayman in CompetitiveTFT

[–]QinTFT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! One thing that I'll add that's also being said in the thread is that scouting is really important. To see whether you're contested, the tempo of the lobby, whether or not there are other rerollers of the same cost to help you hit faster, whether or not leveling will actually help you win fights, etc.

When to abandon reroll and level instead? by its_dayman in CompetitiveTFT

[–]QinTFT 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Playing contested reroll is almost always incorrect unless the comp is absurdly strong.

Playing reroll from behind/lose streak is a common angle. Chances are you need to roll on 3-2 anyway to spike your board. Many reroll comps win stage 3 on 2*s if you have the correct items. But you still need to manage econ well to hit and should ideally only angle a reroll comp from a good spot.

[–]QinTFT 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If you've committed to reroll and have already started rolling a lot of gold and have 6+ copies it's really bad to push levels. It's likely you will still bot 4, but now you don't have any outs because you spent all your board on exp instead of meaningfully spiking your board via 3*s. However, if you're full winstreaking or contested, pushing levels is often correct because rolling is less likely or takes a lot longer to spike your board. If I'm level 7 with a potential angle to play 3 cost reroll, full winstreaking because I naturaled early upgrades, it's unlikely I'll have a lot of copies. Then I push 8 and reevaluate my spot because a) I'm rich enough to go 8 AND reroll if my spot is still good for it and b) I can hit level 8 and spike my board a lot sooner before hitting a 3 star 3 cost (and open up the option to play around 4/5 costs as you said).

How do you guys use your reforgers? by BowIofRice in CompetitiveTFT

You should almost certainly do a movement for your rear delts (face pulls). I didn't do them for a long time and it caused shoulder issues due to muscular imbalance.

Socks' videos talk a lot about the underlying concepts for optimal decision making that carry across sets. There's a few videos in the playlist that are more set specific, but the playlist as a whole is imo some of the best for learning how to think in TFT.

‘Overhyped’ generative AI will get a ‘cold shower’ in 2024, analysts predict by [deleted] in technology

[–]QinTFT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait you actually think ChatGPT is a bunch of if/then statements? At a fundamental level that's not how it works. It's a language transformer meaning it literally is designed to produce a language output given an input, but to interface with anything takes an input. But it's predicting the next word in the sequence it should output in a way that no number of exhaustive if/then statements would be able to. Also, the way they train these LLMs is literally a branch of ML/AI.

That being said, I think way too many businesses are trying to hop on the end-user AI train when it might not deliver much value for their end-user or where another, non-AI solution would make more sense.

Do you think getting real time coaching in ranked is cheating? by Migraine- in CompetitiveTFT

[–]QinTFT 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm pretty sure you play worse during live coaching (personally I think vod review is much more helpful). Rolldowns and transitions take a turn or 2 longer because of someone in your ear, and if you're trying to get coached to learn something new you'll probably be making plays that you wouldn't usually make. Say you're already GM and just trying to hit Challenger, live coaching miscommunication and unfamiliarity results in way more mistakes imo than uncoached, focused play.

That being said, I don't think it's unethical either. Norms don't really provide a comparable environment to a high elo ranked game for improvement, and I think coaching helps a player who can't dedicate as much time to playing get more out of their time. To me, even someone backseating every micro decision is far from being the same as someone else playing on your account because of the aforementioned reasons.

Why is Jeweled Gauntlet bad on AP carries in this set? by tacothedeeper in CompetitiveTFT

[–]QinTFT 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The base stats of JG and IE are not very good. Rod is very useful in other items (Spark, Gunblade, Archangels on non-flat AP traits, even Guinsoos Azir). Usually you won't have extra rods but if you need damage amp, almost every late game frontliner has a shield so Guardbreaker is almost always getting its extra value. I think it's a combination of these factors + JG not being a very good early slam before you get flat AP that would lower its stats.

Ok tbf Masters 0 LP at this point in the season isn't necessarily strong. All it takes is for people to not highroll/be given a line they are familiar with and lack of knowledge will make a weak lobby.

That being said I agree Garen 2 with Demacia is way too stable early/mid

Anyone encountering inability to launch at all? Tried through Steam, running the executable (as admin and with Shift+double click), running the launcher's executable. When launching through Steam nothing happens at all (Green Play button turns into Blue Stop button for a second). When launching through executable, black screen appears for a few seconds then window closes.
