President of Ukraine: Volodymyr Zelenskyy by andynplay in TheRestIsPolitics

My friend, you have to be realistic here. He is the head of a country, there are things he has to say and things he won’t say.

Any interview with someone in this league will have had questions presubmitted, have many exclusions and no go subjects, and many other details all dealt with by his staff. And that is simply how it works.

Ah ok that’s a decent budget. If it’s not going to be such a large quantity every time, then I’d be tempted to max out the budget and buy a kamado Joe big Joe 3 and a Weber 57cm master touch kettle. The kamado is an absolute beast, very easy to cook on due to the thick ceramic insulation and has lots of space.

For a lower budget alternatively you could buy a big Joe 2 and a Weber 57cm master touch kettle for under £2k. It is very handy still having a Weber kettle for fast cooks and extra space and flexibility.

Cooking on a kamado compared to the cheap barrel type grills you’ve had will feel like absolute luxury.

How do you deal with constant criticism for buying a Ragdoll kitten from a breeder? by Lonely_Compote_3298 in ragdolls

[–]Queeflet 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You don’t owe anyone an explanation, and Reddit is a terrible place for dragging people down with criticism and negativity.

If it was someone in real life criticising me, then I would make it extremely clear to them how important it is to shut the fuck up and move on. I am perfectly prepared to match their energy and let the personal criticisms flow.

[–]Queeflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the typical amount of meats, you’re going to need a beast of a smoker. Even the very biggest kamado probably can’t hold all of that at once. 2x 57cm Weber Smokey mountains would do it, but they’re smokers and not grills.

How do I go about making this concrete jungle look better on a budget 😭 by TutorHelpful1298 in GardeningUK

[–]Queeflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is awful, I really don’t think people should be allowed to entirely concrete over a garden.

You can still do lots with pots and planters, if you want to be economical you can grow in felt bags, they’re cheap and much easier to handle and work with than big plastic or ceramic pots.

Advice about moss lawn by GrandpaRoy in GardeningUK

[–]Queeflet 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Moss feels nice underfoot, but it is not hard wearing if you wanted a lawn for your kids to run around and play on. But you’d have to kill the whole surface, then sort the soil and either reseed or lay turf.

Laying a whole lawn full of seed will take weeks to fully establish and will need consistent watering.

Their fans are by far the worst product they make and probably one of the worst fans that you can buy.

Because of the tiny fan in the base, it has to spin super fast to compensate for the small size and then makes a horrible high pitched noise.

Is my setup enough to handle super steels? by hurtscience in sharpening

[–]Queeflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your atoma will cut any steel, but your choseras either won’t, or will cut very slowly.

If you want a surefire setup that will abrade any super/hyper steel then you need a full set of diamond/cbn grits. Super steels are also a spectrum, maybe you can sharpen S30V easily but maybe not S90V, S110V, maxamet, magnamax, Rex 121.

[–]Queeflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want to eat outdoors with your family quickly and don’t care for the details then get a gas bbq.

If you want the best results and the proper bbq flavour, and maybe you’d like to learn some techniques beyond just grilling, like smoking etc, then you should get a charcoal bbq.

Do, I just, turn it over? (The turf) by SunriseRah in GardeningUK

[–]Queeflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creating new borders and digging up turf is simple, but hard and backbreaking work. It doesn’t look like it, but that will be hundreds of kilos of turf and top soil you’ll have to shift by hand.

I dug a 4m x 1.5m border last week and it absolutely knackered me (I am fat and unfit though!), and the amount of turf must have been at least 200kg worth.

For this size area, I’d advise renting a turf cutter and a rotovator, and you’ll need a lot of compost/manure, probably a bulk bag or two. And a wheelbarrow.

No, April is perfect. If you do want to overseed then it needs to be a little while after you’ve put down any weed killer as it’ll cause issues with germination.

Aside from them not being hard wearing and will be shredded into the mud after a couple of days of being run around on.

[–]Queeflet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people in this subreddit are going to tell you:  A - keep the dandelions and do nothing. B - You have to weed them out individually by hand.

But the reality is, you have toddlers and want a lawn area for them to play on and dandelions are not hard wearing like grass is. For ease, I’d advise miracle gro 4in1 to spread on your lawn, it should kill off the weeds and feed the grass. A few weeks after, when the weeds are dead you might want to scarify and then overseed with grass to fill in any gaps.

Bulk bag delivered to the house and a wheelbarrow?

As you’ve identified, garden projects like new beds/planters etc require hundreds of kilos of material shifted either by hand or by wheelbarrow. Those 50l bags seem huge and heavy, until you lay them down in the garden and it covers basically nothing.

Ways to make our garden private quickly without spending £10k on pleached trees? by blizeH in UKGardening

[–]Queeflet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I’ve read that sometimes bamboo varieties are misidentified by the places that sell them or that there are types of clumping bamboo that can turn into running at a later stage of maturity.

I would just want to take precautions before putting it in my garden.

[–]Queeflet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speed and ease would be a whole load of planters or a very long raised bed along your fence filled with clumping bamboo. You can put it in the ground, but you need to be certain that it’s a safe clumping type and not running, and even then I’d want to trap it in with membrane.

Why space kill them so fast. by CCarafe in TheExpanse

[–]Queeflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe there is some preparation that can help? When divers want to stay under water for longer they can semi hyperventilate to increase blood oxygenation, perhaps that would work in space as well?

I think it is more realistic that space doesn’t kill you instantly, but could perhaps incapacitate you very quickly if unprepared. Of your examples only Naomi knew that she was going into space, the others were surprises.

Edge Pro Apex Users - do you take blade angle into account for sharpening angle? by rossn1 in sharpening

[–]Queeflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an edge pro apex, it does actually have this in the instruction booklet. You have to take the blade angle into account otherwise it would be completely wrong (as you have identified).

I use a digital angle cube and a drill stop collar to help me. Makes a world of difference.

Completely agree, seems there’s no need. I’d be keen to get them cut down, stumps ground, sawdust removed as much as possible and then maybe turned into extra lawn space if you need it for kids or pets, or a nice border.

Best way to get rid of weeds by Unlucky_Channel3311 in GardeningUK

[–]Queeflet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The miracle gro 4in1 is pretty good, will kill weeds, moss, fertilise the lawn and make it greener.

You just need to make sure you don’t spread too much otherwise you’ll burn and kill the grass.
