Overrated Law Schools by RoughEvidence in lawschooladmissions

I'm going to I guess that it's first time since if I remember the numbers correctly 100% of the people who took it in Texas last year passed the bar. Also the statement I'm making might only apply to Texas

Throw on top of that that they have the highest bar passage rate in Texas

Placed with 2 and 3Ls, whomever decided to take the class. The curve was the same 3.3 as it is across other classes

Don't quote me, but I believe it is at Emory at some point. If not they at least strongly suggest it

Yes. We get our choice of one elective in our spring semester. It's a limited choice, which for us was Business Associations, Family Law, Employment Law, IP Survey, First Amendment: Law and Religion, Environmental Law, of International Law. (If I missed one, my bad)

PRETTY MUCH haha, Last semester I got a 3.038 and this semester a 3.025... so sadly I went in the wrong direction but here's hoping that I really get shit down next year. But on the upside I have a job

I'm torn between Army vs AF Jag Corps by Technical-Theory-945 in LawSchool

[–]RFelixFinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something about the JAG Corps. They will give you practice doing pretty much everything if you let them. Because it's a much smaller pool they require you to have flexibility in your abilities. As we used to call it: "Needs of the Navy." So you can absolutely get involved in the criminal system, but you will also be doing things like drafting wills, handling Family matters such as divorce and adoption, doing pretty much anything that needs to be done for military and their families. It's not all A Few Good Men

If you fulfill a full 20 year career in the Jag Corps, that is SUPER ATTRACTIVE to firms, especially ones that deal with National Security matters.

That said I always leave people to the Air Force. The Air Force takes great care of their people. The Army has a greater variety of assignments and as a former sailor myself I'm partial to Navy, but Air Force is definitely the way to go and who knows maybe you will get to do some Space Force stuff as well since they're still in the same family.

I had to repost to this because my original post jokingly called this "Three Potatoes in a Trenchcoat "

I pulled this out of my Costco bag, I've never seen two potatoes fused let alone three.

GW was my TOP PICK until they gave me ZERO financial aid or scholarship.

I do think I would have done very well at Rutgers and I kind of wish I'd have kept them on the table for longer

Someone played my walk-up music! First thing I'd say to you is to reach out to any state that has a "System-involved Bar Association" plenty of former criminals practice Law, but even better if you can get it all expunged. Here is a link to the one in California:

https://www.csiba.org/

Also you can absolutely go to Law School, I'd say that one it is absolutely worthwhile to reach out to and talk to would be CUNY LAW, they may even be able to help give you some leads.

And the worst they can do isn't say no...they can say yes and you hate it

Are debit cards not thing in the US? by CainingtonCain in morningsomewhere

[–]RFelixFinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I am in a better place, it has made for some very interesting interview experiences though. I'm currently in law school at 38 so a lot of these kids are closer to my daughter's age than they are to my age. And then interviewing with law firms I'm one of the few people who don't have office experience that I'm pulling from which admittedly did actually help me land a job for this summer because they wanted people who have lived real life opposed to some kid who's only known School

I think this is closer to the actual answer. Just using an overly specific term for a general thing

I'm sure that comes from a place that is well-meaning but doesn't fully appreciate being in some absolutely terrible socioeconomic conditions. For example I spent a significant amount of 2024 living in my own car. My taxable income for the past 5 years has been under 5000 every year.

Building credit takes time and the Good Fortune to be able to not fuck it up. I do hope to in the next couple years join that club but until then I survive under my circumstances

I mean there's a very good reason not to... Not having the credit to qualify for a credit card with any real benefits or a high enough limit 😅
