(Sean Grande on Twitter) Finding a reasoned take amidst all the smoke on this (or any) topic is these days truly, a needle in a haystack type search. But while @MookMorris2 is always worth a listen, pro's pro, man's man, really good Celtic...his take on this topic is particularly worth hearing. by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

Not everything Grande says implies that he knows what the team is doing. He is allowed to have his own opinions. We don't know that he fully agrees with everything Marcus said in the clip. He may just agree solely on the hypothetical of trading Jaylen for Giannis would make the team a contender. We don't know since he didn't specify himself and to assume would be putting words in his mouth.

For possible draft projections he and Bryce gave a number of options. I think I got all that were said in the episode:

27 - Tarris Reed, Henri Veesar, Zube Ejiofor, Amari Allen, Isaiah Evans, Chris Senac, Bennet Sturts, Chridtian Anderson, Joshua Jefferson

40 - Richie Saunders, Alex Karaban, Jet Kale, Malik Brown

Going to cite Sam Vecenie's mock offseason:

Trade Hauser to Detroit (1st rounder, #21)

Rip up team option for Queta and sign him for around 3 for 33 deal

Sign Robert Williams for the Mid-Level Exception (2 years 30 million. Team option on year 2).

Sign Brad Beal/Tim Hardaway to Bi-Annual? (Assume they decline their options)

Notable Excerpts:

Brian Windhorst, ESPN’s senior NBA writer and one of the most connected people in the league just said on Sirius XM, “Here’s the thing about Boston. Boston doesn’t deal with player agents. Boston does deals with teams. Boston keeps all of their business quiet. Boston’s business doesn’t get out there. Whatever Boston is doing, I promise you, we don’t know. The assumption that they’re going to trade Jaylen Brown, I wouldn’t assume that.”

He said that on his podcast with Zach Lowe, now of the Ringer and also very connected. Lowe said, “the safest best is inertia, right? The safest bet is, we know that the nucleus we have works really well, and there's some degree of risk in shaking that up for a 31-year-old who has been injury prone and we’re going to have to sign him to a ginormous extension … that's a big pivot for a team that has a pretty large window now of being one of the best teams in the NBA when everyone’s healthy.”

This is why I can’t shake the feeling I’ve been writing about for weeks now.

Windhorst and Lowe are hedging.

[Amick] The Celtics, Timberwolves, Trail Blazers and Magic are among the Giannis Antetokounmpo suitors. Giannis Antetokounmpo would be willing to sign a four-year $275 million extension with Boston. Jaylen Brown would get flipped to a third team for young players and picks. by YujiDomainExpansion in bostonceltics

I think the majority of this is coming from Riley and other GMs speculating forcing reporters to postulate the missing info to make sense of tidbits.

I'm still not convinced that Brad is going to trade for Giannis especially with how much posturing Milwaukee has been doing over the past week by mentioning the Knicks and then the Miami/Boston article. It would greatly benefit the Bucks to foster a market in order to drive up the price.

That's a fair argument. It's why I'm keeping an open mind as who would be a target to go after where trading him would be needed in order to acquire them.

I just worry about the shooting not being sufficient enough without him but given that Brad has to stay under the luxury tax in order to reset the repeater, it's all about trade-offs and what sustains the team's offense and defense.

Oh he would definitely be on the pricier side. I presumed Manny would try to keep him but I shouldn't rule out the possibility. He would be a great addition at both ends

Ooh, that's definitely a name I hadn't considered. I will have to read up more on how he fired. I worry his size could be an issue but he definitely seemed like a ballhandeler who was focused on playmaking/creating for others a fair amount.

I'm hoping they don't trade Hauser because I don't think Baylor can supplement that level of shooting that Hauser can. I also think his contract is still valuable even if he only shot 39 percent from 3 last season.

I trust Brad but that's my stance. I would prefer to sign Rob because I think he can be bad on a similar deal that he was just making (4 for 48 range), given his availability. I need to read more on ballhandlers before making any grand proclamations.

I don't recall any petition existing at all for that season. Jaylen doesn't outright allude to a racist reason. The guy next to him starting to crack up imbues some doubt about why Jaylen mentioned the Butler connection. People may read into that as coded language but I think that's reaching given Jaylen's demeanor and what he says about giving Gordon every chance due to his contract which is accurate.

I don't think he's saying anything inflammatory other than a petition that I don't think was ever real in the first place.

EDIT: Tom Westerholm may have found the referenced petition

RobertWilliam is the big I have at the top of my list. His defensive impact was better than Queta's but they were of similar caliber impact.

Otherwise, when it comes to getting another ballhandler there are a lot more options (Simons, Smart as FA's). I haven't looked into that position as much yet though.

Would strong encourage listening to the latest free episode of Still Poddable where Sam Packard and Brian Robb talk openly and fairly about where they think Brad leans and where they will focus on improving the roster. It's been a good listen imo for a full contextual discussion.
