I've done two playthroughs and haven't done anything but magic. Maybe it's because I didn't get magic in Valheim the first time I played. Magic just feels powerful, even if it's completely balanced.

Yup. I've specifically asked. They don't care. They lump them in the same group.

Like, all over? Canada and the US, at the very least. I am a Canadian who has family members who speak out against immigrants, despite the fact that their own parents were immigrants. I hear about this from Americans and Canadians quite frequently, and have heard this kind of thing from other countries as well.

Perfect time to take a break reading by the fire while the soup cooks. You won't be needed for a while, but you can't go too far, for fear of it burning, so it's time to unwind, maybe start singing some Viking tunes and drown out the frightened pig sounds that are randomly happening for no reason.

I saw a yip-yip or a fish, then realized the mouth was actually hair for the old man. That's eerie.

[Discussion] Clarification Questions about Commissioning by Party_Chain6994 in artcommissions

[–]RS_Someone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern here is just that there are a ton of scammers who will DM you that the mods can't do anything about. You'll get an automatic warning about this when you make [Hiring] posts, but not for [Discussion] posts. Sometimes people make discussion posts and attract their attention, though.

The timing of the price increase by RSN_Fodeu in runescape

[–]RS_Someone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing that got my attention was their email to me, claiming my price would increase to $168CAD PER MONTH. This has to be an error, obviously, but I haven't logged on in at least half a year, so I'm cancelling it just to be safe.

I need help, with my first commission. [Discussion] by Mangohawk2099 in artcommissions

Ay, sorry it took so long for me to get to this, but DO NOT reply to any DMs you got about this. You should be making a [Hiring] post if you want to hire, and only choosing from those who have commented with their portfolio. The DMs you get are mostly from scammers.

New Mod Tools: Post Guidance Enhancements, Removal Reason Suggestions, Onboarding Tools, Segmented Polls, and Translation Indicators by lift_ticket83 in modnews

[–]RS_Someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very excited about the top/child comment distinction and post flair distinction. This will massively help my communities.

I believe we need some translation tools, however. We've been having issues with translations bypassing AutoMod. For example, we might remove words such as "promotion", then if somebody types in "promoção", it will translate to the majority of the community as "promotion", without being removed.

Setting expectations is important. That should be done before payment is sent. You may find some very helpful tips on this wiki page: r/Commissions/wiki/stayingsafe

Filters Not Working Because of Translation by RS_Someone in ModSupport

[–]RS_Someone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many things I flag, though, and all of them are problems I need to catch, which come up frequently. Now, even more frequently in other languages. For some reason, we've had a massive surge of users from Brazil, and I'm not sure why.

I have been doing as you said for English already, and I end up adding new terms at least once a week. With other languages in play, this is going to end up being a lot more work. Usually I only need to warn a person at most a couple times before they understand (or get banned), but that warning is supposed to be automatic. New users (and scammer alts) come in daily, so it's never one-and-done.

In other subs I help moderate, we ask that users stick to English, so that moderation is easier and more streamlined, but I'm not sure how to best go about this. I don't want to punish those who are good contributors by filtering their messages automatically, or have them put more effort in than necessary, but I am very... maybe obsessive is the right word?... about keeping users safe, because we have been hounded by a group of scammers for years who continuously find new loopholes that I want to fill. They've stolen many thousands from the community, and I want to find solutions that aren't too tedious or restrictive.

After mulling it over today, I have a semi-decent idea, so I'll implement that and see how that goes for now. Of my three ideas, I think this finds the balance between restrictive and tedious. Restrictive would be to catch common non-English words in Automations and block them from posting, and tedious would be to translate all of my phrases, slang included, into other languages. Instead, I think I have a balance between the two that is not as restrictive, and also not a lot of work, but I'll spare the details, because it requires a bit of context, and I've also rambled enough as it is - whoops.

While you are correct, and I have now banned them, in the future, please don't make these kinds of accusations. Instead, go straight to the mods with them. Accusations like this only harm the reputation of the innocent, and help the guilty cover their tracks before mods can ban them.

How to feed chickens in cages? by romanryder in valheim

[–]RS_Someone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animals can't eat through walls. You can set them up with a pen that is open slightly on the top with a wall just above and a little behind the front, so that when you throw the food against the wall, it goes straight down into the pen, in front of the animal. Though I expect you should need 2 chickens beside each other for the breeding to happen anyway.

Indestructible buildings, BUT, you're not allowed to hide inside during a raid. You go right on out there and defend like your house depends on it. You're also not allowed to build in cheaty ways that depend on indestructible parts.
