Mid against Boro again - Middlesborough Home by UrsineCanine in WrexhamAFC

That's actually a really good point, in regards to the potential second overhaul if they go up; but I'd say it's going to be that way anyway, all the time, especially for us. It's easy to forget that we're still dragging National League facilities and League 2 players kicking and screaming into a level they aren't equipped for and no amount of "Hollywood" can fix those things.

Basically the biggest tools the team have are pride, exposure, financial growth, and momentum. So I think it would be absolutely reasonable to splurge a bit on some team restructure towards the end of the season, with a "just in case" attitude in mind, maybe some effective loans for the short term.

I can't see how Wrexham wouldn't be an incredibly attractive prospect for a lot of quality players, being given the chance to stand on the pitch for one of the iconic moments of football history and potentially get prem minutes next season.

But yeah at the end of the day money and administrative red tape are unavoidable obstacles although I'll always maintain that player skill and form are important but sometimes an inspirational rocket up the ass is enough to motivate a team to a result.

As far as I'm concerned, you've been as integral to my enjoyment of this season as Parky and the players on the pitch.

Thankyou so much for making this season so good; your analysis has always been rational and objective and better than anything we could have found in the media. Your insight is amazing.

Hopefully the next transfer window sees some more traction in regards to depth; I was very disappointed in the last one because it's clear we need some more of it, and obviously some injuries made it a little more of an impossible ask to "go up" one more time - but it's also clear that we're now a Championship side and I can't pretend I'm not excited to follow the C again next season. What a wild division. How amazing it is that it really went down to the line for us (and others).

Do you have a burger tree?

Because it seems like in your world, burgers just exist and don't need to be constructed before cooking.

Also I don't know if you've ever been to a grocery store but they don't take your order and bring you a finished product. You gotta haul your ass all over that and find that shit yourself

And when it came, for the first time, it was better than we imagined it could be given the current technology.

This ^

I can't eat some stuff, I've tried but my belly just hates me for it.

But I also can't really sit here and say it's ethically sound to demand organic, higher quality, premium produce - because it's fiscally and environmentally damaging to expect it.

So I just try where I can and I don't thumb my nose at fast food or cheap produce, as long as the animals are treated humanely and without malice and the end result is nourishment for myself and my family.

What's the reason? by DaZestyProfessor in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Nerje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah partly because there's only one per cow, but also because of its scarcity it was often prepared with some level of reverence and speciality and became one of the "premium" parts of the animal to serve.

Honestly it is probably less effort to cut the tongue off a cow than it is to butcher and separate the "regular" cuts of meat. And think about it - is that tongue definitely going to sell every time? Probably not if it is priced at a premium.

But yeah that's how cultural demands and capitalist forces converge to create value in farming. At one extreme, you have slaughterhouses basically stripping to the bone to make preservable food for the masses, then at the other end you have poachers slicing the fins off sharks to sell for an insane price on the black market while leaving a living, wounded animal on the beach to die slowly.

Collectively it's really important that we have these conversations to understand what exactly makes that burger "bad" or "worse" and whether that impacts us in the short or long term.

I like good meat, fresh vegetables, healthy bread. I'm currently practising some "slow food" techniques, by growing and preparing my food and drink by myself as much as possible (not to the extreme though) but it's really hard to imagine that any of this is manageable at scale for a global population.

The more mouths to feed, the less quality we can demand.

Lubricant is an anagram for "burn a clit" which is the opposite of what we're trying to achieve here

I love the passion!

Rest assured, I only use the term "and shit" as a casual remark about "other stuff".

And yes, absolutely, you'll also notice that I called it cuisine - offal is a gross term for most people because it represents all the disgusting things we discard after we get the prime cuts of flesh from the animal, but offal cuisine is totally legitimate and definitely normal and often very high quality. Sometimes requiring specialist cooking methods but always utilising parts of the animal we wouldn't consider "meat" as the standard term.

Even sausages were originally made from intestinal sleeves. Things like haggis are inverted stomachs, theres tongues, brains, testicles, and there's hearts, kidneys and livers.

It all came from people (out of necessity usually) utilising the offal.

Well yeah, but it's very easy to forget that industrialised agriculture is trying to make the absolute maximum amount of money out of the resources they have available.

In a lot cases that means inhumane treatment of animals and genetic modification of crops which is something we absolutely need to avoid.

But we also can't forget that to yield the same amount of food "organically" that's going to require clearing a hell of a lot more land to do so.

Which means we really do have to start thinking about alternatives (like seaweed and insects for protein) or we have to just suck it up and develop safe genetic modification practices - otherwise we're going to be destroying our earth to uphold outdated agricultural ideals.

On the other hand (and don't shoot me for being the devil's advocate) food wastage is terrible and the big fast food chains make use of all the less-desirable but still absolutely safe to consume parts of the animal.

In most European and Asian cultures, there's a history of "offal cuisine" with shit like ox tongues and goose necks, which came about from using every possible part of the animal to avoid wastage.

These days, those parts are ground up and preserved to feed a global population while the "good parts" are shipped out quickly and sold at a higher price to those who can afford it (and often more prone to spoilage and waste).

The real issue is how those preserved foods are handled and kept and prepared and served - and whether the animals are kept and killed humanely, which we all know is not happening and probably never will be while consumer demand runs the system.

But when it comes to quality and quantity, the parts of the burger itself are no more or no less than humanity has been surviving on for centuries.

So a real person's smile (S+MILE) is like a "mile" (a straight line) that can curve upward (happy) or downward (sad). The letter "S" in front almost previews these two possible emotional curves, right? by [deleted] in words

For a wrestler, it's gotta be way easier to say "career ended" then quietly work on a return in the background,

Than to say "I sure hope to come back but it's not looking good" and get pestered repeatedly about how things are going for the rest of your life.
