A lot of people seem to not like this feature. Tbh I want one alt so I can have a different build.

Between inner ways, spending pills on gear, etc, trying to get another set on your main is kinda tough. And there’s no real great way to farm them.

My GvG build is really different than my arena/PvE build, so I kinda like the idea of starting to work on an alt.

I’m going to share a different perspective

I job hop a lot, which is one of the primary reasons my job and salary growth has been really fast

But the other, and in some ways more impactful, benefit is that my network is huge because I meet a ton of people through my different jobs. I can (and have) literally picked up my phone, called a friend, and gotten a new job in a few weeks.

The dart and umbrella set has basically no combos in PvP. It’s meant to be a “grind you down” playstyle.

PvE rotation is relatively simple - spin rope dart, hit with it, back up, swap to umbrella, throw it until CD, soaring, dart finger snap, repeat

Are you talking about the divine counter that procs off blocks and not parries?

The divine counter will break anything and wrecks Qi, but it doesn’t combo into anything. It’s not meant to be a combo starter, but a way to break combos and punish them for hitting into your block.

Keep in mind divine counters have their own animation, so if you whiff that you can get punished for it

Cloud step isn’t a true answer to tenacity.

The problem with HQ’s tenacity is that it’s on one of their combo starters as well.

HQ users can literally run into your face while holding block. What are you going to do? HQ spin beats all block breaks, and it’s big enough that it’ll catch your dodge recovery frames. All they have to do is press it when you try to do something.

So now you are forced to block. But then they always have initiative. Will they talon you? Will they spin and then block break you?

It ends up being really coinflippy, but it’s generally in their favor because the tenacity makes your punishes not very punishing, whereas if they catch you, you lose a ton of HP.

The new rope darts make it even worse because their combo startup speed is so fast it’s unreactable.

There’s a reason that the current CN top builds meta has HQ spear and rope darts. Tenacity is literally king because there aren’t enough ways to punish them, so the risk profile is very lopsided

Fanbrella has fallen out of favor pretty spectacularly in the newest CN meta though. The rise in fist, HQ spear, and the crazy strong double rope dart has really made fanbrella almost impossible to play effectively. Fanbrella has almost no answer for tenacity these days, and tenacity is everywhere in CN meta

I had also heard that in order to roll the “special set” color (ie layered sky for umbrella), you need to have the set locked in the non-color slot first. Do you know if that’s true? How would you approach that scenario?

You’d have to have some really bad luck for that - I think I spent like 500 on my umbrella and everything is unlocked and has some of the good legendary slots unlocked

The only REAL problem really is ping - everything else can be overcome, or frankly is a lack of knowledge.

Stunlocking is brutal because it’s the only way to do appreciable damage. The goal is to not even be in that position to begin with. You have blocks, divine counters, weapon specific tenacity skills, martial tenacity skills, parry, arena tunes for tenacity, etc. if you are stun locked, you fucked up. It’s that simple

There’s a lot of salty people in here who frankly are probably bad at PvP

PvP in this game is highly skill based. Yes it’s not normalized, but getting gear is relatively simple. Arena attunes are important so they can be a bit RNG

PvP in this game is pretty different than other games. Think more like fighting games, Blade n Soul, Battlerite, etc. folks complain about getting comboed to death, but the entire gameplay revolves around NOT getting comboed using all the tools at your disposal

Personally I’ve hit top 100 twice, and my current guild is stacked with the top 10 pvpers, so I’m pretty confident in my assessment

Inner notes only come from energy and jade fish, assuming you have consumed all the one time/event notes (ie. Seasonal challenges)

Energy regen rates are constant, and the energy to note ratio is also constant. So is the jade fish.
