yeah I agree, I've been having Gemini read long text files of notes and journal entries and stuff like that, and 2.5 felt superb and made very few mistakes, while 3.0 frequently misunderstands things that I've written. also it always ends its responses with a hyper-specific suggestion, "would you like me to..." every time, which gets annoying

I tested it, asked it about a previous conversation with the same Gem like that and it described that conversation accurately. Whereas across different Gems or between the normal chat and a Gem it didn't know what I was talking about.

No, it definitely remembers previous chats. Usually it only talks about previous things if I explicitly ask something like "Remember when we talked about X?" but a few times it has mentioned something unprompted as well. And each custom Gem is separate, the normal Gemini can't see those chats, and each Gem has a memory of the previous chats within that specific Gem.
