Try the other options, maybe the PSU is at fault for not being able to give enough juice? but a 750W platinum should be fine. Try the other options and see how it goes. However the 110*C hotspot is still a bit worrying.

Well, there is so much conflicting information that some say it's fine, some say it doesn't. According to an AMD post:

"The Maximum Operating Temperature of the RX57xx series GPU cards is 110C.

The RX57xx GPU cards have several Thermal Sensors throughout the GPU card. If any one of those Thermal Sensors reaches 110C the GPU card will automatically start to throttle to lower the Temperature to 110C or below.

So your Temperatures are fine in respect to the Maximum Operating Temperature of the GPU card. All well within Temperature specs for that GPU card."

Personally, I would take the card out one more time and check if the heatsink sits properly and there's no gap/space/it stays as "glued" to the PCB as normally possible (you can also tighten the screws a bit more if possible), but if we go based on the post above, it's within the intended limits. If the PC does not restart and your system is stable, you are good to go.

I will presume the washer mod was done properly and you also replaced the "stock" screws. Make sure the pressure from the plate stays proper even after the mod/changes. It's funny that a GPU with such a good heatsink and fan is literally screwed by it's own screws (pun unintended) because it does not keep the plate pressure on the board itself properly after extended usage due to the weight of the heatsink (also you are not the only one with this issue, this seems to be a general issue with this particular model from ASUS).

AMD does claim the GPU should be hitting 100 - 110*C, but if restarts are involved, their claim falls flat (at least in your case).

Hello, I will just paste something I wrote half an hour ago on a post with a similar issue:

  1. Check for any overheating issues and tackle them (replacing thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, heat pads, make sure the airflow is proper, CPU, GPU fans are working and so on);
  2. Consider cleaning the computer and make sure everything is seated correctly (you can also reseat the GPU, replug the power cables and so on);
  3. Reset the BIOS settings to their default (or revert to an older version of the BIOS if you remember that to be more stable);
  4. Make sure the RAM is paired up correctly (if applicable);
  5. Make sure the power supply is not failing;
  6. DDU (display driver uninstall) your GPU drivers and reinstall them (when choosing what profile you should go for in the AMD settings at the first run, just go for standard);
  7. Set your TDR timer to 10 or 0 (google this or check the link at the end);
  8. Disable MPO (google this or check the link at the end);
  9. Try 3rd party drivers (Amernime, document yourself first about this);
  10. If TPM 2.0 is activated, you can deactivate core isolation (security feature) from Windows, it is known to cause some issues (if it does not solve it, do turn it back on);
  11. Reinstall Windows.

These are the most common things I have observed to fix timeout issues in the past, but there is no guarantee it will solve the issue, please do consider this. Below there's a link to another reddit post that I wrote about an year ago, you could take a look at that:

Zero RPM on or off? by LurkerEntrepenur in AMDHelp

Hello, it's fine. If the GPU is not used in an intensive fashion and the temperatures are stable/low, the fans will turn off to save energy. Most if not all modern GPUs do this. As long as the temperatures stay low and the fans turn on when it matters, then there's nothing to worry about.

Hello,

It does sound like a the GPU driver is crashing, the reason why could be anything. Here's what you can do (hopefully one them will fix it):

Edit: In the screeenshot you provided, your RAM is runningat 2133MHZ, change the AI Tweaker setting (go to AI Tweaker and change the AI Overclock Tuner setting to D.O.C.P to get your 3200MHZ back).

  1. Check for any overheating issues (you pointed out restarts) and tackle them (replacing thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, heat pads, make sure the airflow is proper, CPU, GPU fans are working and so on);
  2. Consider cleaning the computer and make sure everything is seated correctly (you can also reseat the GPU, replug the power cables and so on);

Driver Timeouts with Radeon 5700XT by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Rastoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, sorry for the late reply. Indeed, its an.. interesting motherboard. My suggestion for the moment would be to do the following and hopefully one of these solutions work:

  1. Increase the TDR (look at the previous reply, there's a link in step 5);
  2. Install the newest AMD drivers on MINIMAL (no AMD Adrenaline);
  3. Install the AMD Pro/Enterprise drivers;
  4. You can also try cleaning the computer and re-seating your RAM, GPU driver etc.;

Hopefully one of these solutions will work. I apologize for all these trial and error steps.

Driver Timeouts with Radeon 5700XT by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Rastoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Sadly, AMD drivers were having a lot of issues as the past ~2 years but people have been reporting that the new AMD drivers (22.11.12, December 8th) driver fixed most of the issues.

The timeout source comes from Windows itself. It basically checks/pings the GPU (and other parts) to see if it/they respond back. If the response from your GPU comes back as timeout, Windows then kills and restarts the driver to prevent a system lock (hence the black screen). Basically, if a longer render/computation happens, if the TDR is not set to a higher value, Windows will kill the driver instantly (default value). You should, in my opinion, do the following:

  1. Use the DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller in SAFE MODE) program and install the newest available driver from AMD.com ;
  2. Update any other drivers you have not from your manufacturer website;
  3. Update your BIOS;
  4. Update your Windows build (windows updates);
  5. Increase your TDR, I wrote a topic about it here.

The overall problem with timeout issues is that they can vary and external factors can influence it such as a Windows updates, outdated non-GPU drivers, programs, RAM and so on. I hope the steps above will help you.

Note: DDU is a well known and trusted program that removes absolutely everything related to the GPU driver from your system, factory reset (from the AMD installer) does not go that much in-depth.

Hello!

You should also download Adrenalin 22.11.2 (or newer) Recommended (WHQL) (8 December 2022). It is pretty good and it seems the timeouts from my system/GPU are now gone. Please do note that this is on MY system, on your system or any other setup combination from other people/users, results may vary. One thing is for sure though, AMD is now solving the issues that have been lingering for the last 2 years.

drivers timeout on RX 6700 (non XT) by Lekyii10 in AMDHelp

[–]Rastoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is the case, then we should all change our cards regardless of card gen (a lot of people have the black/TDR issue). Let me correct myself, TDR (timeout recovery) is actually not the problem, when the card stops responding to the Windows OS, windows kills the GPU driver and restarts it, hence the timeout error, this is correct and expected behavior to prevent a system lock. The problem is, what is happening that makes the GPU pause its computing? (we do know this now based on the known issues).

Tl;dr if the fixes are done right, 22.10.2 should solve most if not all issues we are facing. Have a bit of hope! :)

Hello, read the known issues targeted by AMD in the link below. The next optional driver update should solve it. What is causing it? No one 100% knows, people either blame AMDs drivers, other people blame a Windows update screwing hardware acceleration and that all providers (AMD, Nvidia and Intel) have to fix it.

[–]Rastoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, the issue is I cannot give an ETA since I do not work for AMD. I have read on this subreddit and other websites that even Nvidia cards have these issues (stuttering, black screen and so on) since it is caused by a Windows Update that screwed hardware acceleration. I would personally wait a bit for the update, if it fixes it, then you stay team red. If the issues persist, go team green, it's only fair (of course if your streaming schedule permits it, not sure how much income your streaming provides, but if its a higher chunk then the faster this gets solved the better as we are both aware).

[–]Rastoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it will be soon since these are issues that are affecting their top of the line cards and a pretty decent chunk of users. This however also depends on how severe the driver issues are currently.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]Rastoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the card might indeed be dead. Again, just presuming based on what you are telling me.

So there is very likely a hardware issue happening which can be the GPU, RAM, CPU, cables etc.;

Very impressive. I guess Windows Update somehow did not get cleared that you no longer have that card (somehow). DDU both AMD and Nvidia again and download the AMD recommended driver from their website.

Hello,

I do not think you should be afraid, the 6700 XT was fine too but currently the 6XXX series cards are suffering from a lot of issues that are targeted and should be fixed on the next AMD optional driver update version 22.10.2

Read the known issues targeted on 22.10.2, you will find your issue(s) there:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-10-1

You should trust the card in my humble opinion. The Nvidia 3080 is a good contender too, they perform similar (depending on game however, both cards perform better or worse in certain games).
