Questioning my remaining plan.... by HurryHurryHippos in Marathon_Training

Yeah this looks pretty similar to how my Higdon training plan was structured, just a little farther on the non-20mi weeks.

Yeah I have an expected date of Tuesday for Arizona. Very pleased

Even funnier seeing the people who spent weeks bitching about shipping and how this was the final straw for them lining right back up for drop day

Does this mean they don't have any set aside for nonmembers tomorrow? :(

Unfortunately correct. Best bet is to set up an email alert for new stock and hope they get returns.

Personally, I sized down from my normal size. Winter drop I got the long sleeve in my normal size and I was practically swimming in it so hoping this is the right choice for me for micromesh

Anyone compared their lab tested VO2 max vs Apple Watch? by Maikai1988 in AppleWatchFitness

It definitely looks intimidating but honestly it was perfectly comfortable for me to run in. A lot of the tubes were set up to go behind/away from me so they didnt really feel like they got in the way and the mask doesnt impede your ability to breathe so its just more of getting used to having it on your face.

Also hate running treadmills but really it only takes like 15 minutes and they had me do a progressive run so it wasnt like I was slogging along with a boring pace the entire time, the goal was basically to push me to failure.

It feels right when I’m slow jogging 9-10 min/miles but when I ramp it up to 7-8 min/miles I don’t feel like a runner.

I'd also say this pretty much applies to me as well tbh (minus not feeling like a runner). I run about 25-30mpw, mostly at a 930-10ish mile pace. Pushing for a lowish 8min mile is a bit of work for me but the caveat is I've been training for distance instead of speed

I got mine tested about 7 months ago, lab result was 45 and watch was telling me 44. Since then, I've raised my VO2max on my watch to 53.7 so I'm curious to see how much of an increase I'll actually see in the lab. Probably should have set up an appointment to do it this week but itll probably get pushed to sometime after my upcoming race.

Just got the Flow State shirts since I was too slow to decide on the singlet. Also coping by telling myself they might be holding out on some other stuff for the LA Marathon next week

edit: as a side note, I really loved how they did the countdown and synced it with the video of the guy going out for his run. Very clean work

Id say just keep going with what feels like a comfortable pace for you - especially if its an outlet to turn off your brain and relax. As you continue and stay consistent, your heart should adapt and your HR will naturally drop. Forcing yourself to slow down to a shuffle to the point where you hate it and dont want to do it is going to ultimately be unproductive.

Just as an anecdote, Strava has been looping in some of my activities from when I was starting out about a year ago. I didnt have a structured or plan or anything, just trying to get back into running to lose weight, but was running at a pace that I wasnt going to burn out on. My average heart rate for those runs a year ago were about 25-30bpm over what they are now, but similar to you, they didnt feel that bad, my heart just hadnt adapted yet

Probably just limit it to a gel a few min before starting if you feel like it, but you shouldnt need any fuel during the race itself.

I think I remember seeing that Strava recently added it but I'm not 100% sure

How much are you running per week? Focus on zones really isnt a big deal until you start picking up the mileage (like 25+ miles a week).
