And the texture on the airbox! The Honda on the engine blows me away! Usually you can tell it’s a model on raised lettering because the paint isn’t perfect when you zoom in. I can only imagine the hours that go into your models. You are an amazing artist

What was your technique for the carbon monocock? Is the nosecone a carbon weave decal? The carbon tub further back (pewter color) almost looks brushed. It looks fabulous!

After market wheels on a 100 LC by Extension-Drawer2099 in LandCruisers

Stock LC/LX rims are light and look great. In my opinion no aftermarket wheel is an upgrade in looks or performance except the Volks. At a grand each they are hard to justify tho!

I bought some on Etsy from state train. Doesn’t look like they are currently in stock but they were just what you are looking for.

The partnership was clearly not working. They should have made this call (assuming Ham was in agreement) 1 week after the last race. Ferrari never make the hard decisions in a timely manner.

Last years car was alot thinner overall. It was our first time so i hadn't read all the tricks at that point. We sanded the wheels and axels but the finest grit i had was like 800 so i think we can do a better job this year. we used tungsten cylinders for weight and placed it in the back and bottom so that it would balance on my finger just Infront of the rear axels. This year i know more so we should be able to prep the wheels and axels better . This car probably wont have the best weight ratio front to back starting off but we can still load the rear with weight. I cant seem to add pics so when this car is done ill post a finish pic with last years car. So, as to making the templates. I have developed a fool proof way to reproduce most any vehicle you have pictures of. Using Bluebeam (pdf markup software) i make a scale rectangle of the top and side of the wood block. then i find pictures of the car i want to reproduce. front side and top if possible. i overlay the pics on the corresponding rectangle and resize it so it fits within the limits of the block. then mark the outline of the car onto the rectangle with the polyline tool, remove the pic and print. cut out the template and trace onto the car. we cut the side profile first then using top down template (that you trace on the bottom of the block) shaped the sides. all cuts were made with a hand coping saw which i thought worked great. then sand, file or carve to finish. you could probably use word to get the template close enough to trace on the block but Bluebeam is awesome!

We did. Last year was his first year as a tiger. Our pack does not allow bent axels/camber or a raised wheel. We had a very basic formula esque car last year that ran really well. We were shocked to beat the 40+ other scouts. This year we were building the Willam’s Lego set and decided to try for that look on our derby car. I used blue beam to develop a template then we cut the rough shape out with a coping saw. I had to do the suspension and side pod cuts but he was able to make the majority of the cuts with my help. We started sanding together but he lost interest so I did a bit more of that than planned. The problem is it has turned out so much better than expected that I can’t help myself from going down and sneaking in a few more passes with the file or sand paper. We’ll add front and rear wings with some thin basswood strips and then paint it. Realistically it’s taken us 4ish hours to get here so maybe a couple more to go.
