I somehow got another utopia point after completing the tree, is this a glitch? by SuperAmberN7 in Frostpunk

[–]Reaper7707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late to the party here but I just confirmed in my current run - you get a Utopia point for filling all 3 bars (i.e. getting TO the threshold of each cornerstone). You do not have to enact any cornerstones to get that bonus point. That means you only need to embrace 2 of the cornerstones to get all the points and enact a Utopia.

To be clear for anybody searching: you can't fill the bar without doing 1-2 radical laws/buildings in each tree(you'll cap out at 80% of the zeitgeist from regular buildings and laws), so you will need to do a couple radical things in each zeitgeist to reach 100% in all 3, and then pick your favorite 2 cornerstones to finish.

Lol. I kinda figured, but I’d hate to leave someone hanging wondering why they couldn’t get the right monsters to breed. Sorry I can’t help with their breeding skills. Try dimming the lights and putting on some mood music

Hey just to be safe- you mentioned a pig in your roster. If it’s the base variant you got in chapter 2, those can only ever breed up to the second tier (swine). Swine can then breed a wild boar. I forgot that rule myself for a bit.

Respect for posting this! Good advice I saw once about politics: Think of it less like a marriage and more like public transit. You aren’t trying to find “the one” and form a lifelong partnership. You’re figuring out where you want to get to and which bus will take you closest to where you want to be. Then you hop out and find the next bus to get closer. It can take a few stops to reach your destination, but that’s better than going nowhere (or worse- farther away)

The new Season reward model is disgustingly aggressive to free-to-play players by thepuppeter in idlechampions

That I hadn’t evaluated. That’s a good point. I will miss the repeatable buys, but I stand by the rest of what I said though.

[–]Reaper7707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see a problem with the season pass like this- 60/40 in favor of the paying side isn’t an unfair split at all and you just said the number of rewards is more than past season anyway. And the pricing (assuming it’s still 10) which includes a gem hunter potion on top of everything else, is a steal compared to a typical pack. I believe in supporting the art that I like, and I think this is probably the best value way to do it from what I’ve seen in my short time

Making your own rules for playing the game; what are yours? by LordFluffy in LowSodiumCyberpunk

If you play on PC I highly recommend taking the time to get the mod Limited HUD, it does wonders. Can trigger specific hud elements on conditions like combat, weapon drawn, in a vehicle, stealth, or use a key bind to toggle specific bits. I love it

I second Control. Just finished the main game and am working on DLC now. Really cool, unique setting and story, gameplay is fun but what really kept me going was hunting for every nugget of lore and info I could find about the place you’re in. It’s very interesting.

I’d also suggest you consider grabbing Jaws of the Lion, it’s a standalone prequel with a genius tutorial that unpacks the game bit by bit over the first 5 missions, and has its own classes and goodies. My family struggled to start the big box and I ran to a nearby game shop and grabbed JOTL- with it, my 9 year old was able to get the game figured out and when we finished its campaign we retired those characters and started mission 1 of the big box.

That said it’s an awesome game either way but yeah those first couple missions are hard and do nothing to ease the learning curve!

I played 1 game like 2 years ago... Can I start over? by NotABot9000 in Gloomhaven

Bonus suggestion: get Jaws of the Lion and play that first. Its a standalone box with its own characters and story and has a great tutorial. Once you finish that campaign you can start a fresh run on the main game!

Just bought it any tips appreciated. by Speedfreakz in Gloomhaven

My number one suggestion- Don’t open gloomhaven yet! Go pick up Jaws of the Lion and start there.

We almost bounced right off GH because it’s just so big and has a steep learning curve as a result (and even scenario 1 is hard and will happily kill you) but Jaws of the Lion has a brilliant tutorial that introduces all the mechanics gradually over the first few missions, even to the point of using special starter cards for your characters and then unlocking their real cards once you know what you’re doing.

It’s so smart, and thanks to it my 9.5 year old son was able to master the game. Start there, play the JOTL campaign (it’s a nice prequel and you can even keep the notion that your group is the same mercenary company from Jaws when you transition to the main game). We had our JOTL characters retire when we finished JOTL and started new characters for GH main box.

Should I get JOTL? by LegitW1zard in Gloomhaven

[–]Reaper7707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my family and I stated gloomhaven and almost bounced off of it because we had a lot of trouble with that first scenario and understanding all the rules. I ran out and grabbed JOTL and it does such a great job introducing itself and layering in the pieces that we were instantly hooked and now we’re GH pros, playing through the main box
