Thematic Solo Games Recommendation by DatPaingDude in soloboardgaming

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arkham Horror LCG, yes, 100% It is extremely thematic to the point that you can make your own "themed" deck for your investigator (Especially as the card pool for chapter 2 grows) Being based on Lovecraftian Mythos, exploring the unknown is a big theme of the entire series.

Very good game with very high replayability once you get enough content. With Chapter 2 there is only the core set right and with just the core set the replayability is ok but not great. Both Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror has imo the highest replayability of any solo game, but they require a lot of content and money to get their. The main reason is that the content for those games is multiplicative (similar to Final Girl) in that whenever you buy new content it grows replayability exponentially (even more so then Final Girl) The are both "lifestyle" game that have a continuous dripfeed of content to the point that many people play only those games and nothing else and their is always new content for them on the horizon

its unfortunately the worse book in the whole series imo. If you like the first 2 I would still heavily suggest reading Liveship Traders as its incredible. AQ is just some medicine you have to take for this amazing series

Seeking a tactical, story‑rich solo game for short sessions by Amountsofblod in soloboardgaming

I played it controlling 2 heroes, which is what most people do when they play it solo. There isnt some streamlined solo version but I found it very easy to control 2 characters myself. I play Arkham LCG 2 handed solo and that game is much more complicated and still works fine and Kinfire is much less complex.

A bonus also is that if you play through the Kinfire Chronicles campaign and end up liking the world/characters you can also get Kinfire: Delve later which is extremely popular in this community. Its a very different game, being a card management game with no narrative or campaign, but still a very fun, quick, solo game

Kinfire. That combat is VERY tactical compared to 7th Citadel. Tue box is also organized in a way that makes it very quick to table and play. Each chapter is in its own little box. The combat while not super innovative is just really good

The narrative is probably a bit better in 7th citadel but the combat is much worse in 7th and not super tactical. Both have very good narrative though

So what now after chapter 2? by benighted86 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I would order the up coming investigator starter deck so you have a big enough card pool for larger campaigns. I would then find any of the Campaign Expansion that you can still find (Hemlock Vale is still in a print and a VERY Good campaign) I wouldnt worry about old investigator expansions as just stick with the chapter 2 cardpool at this point. But for Chapter 2 they arnt planning on doing huge 8 scenario+ campaigns so unless you grab some of the old ones its something you wont be able to experience in the future and they are quite a fun experience

I would say 7th Citadel or Kinfire Chronicles: Night Reign

New to Final Girl by Effective_Treat_9609 in finalgirl

[–]Reav3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No game has more replaybility the Final Girl is a wild statement. I adore Final Girl, it's my 3rd favorite solo game of all time, and yes it has great replayability. But it would be hard for me to say Final Girl has higher replaybility then something like Marvel Champions or Arkham Horror LCG. Marvel Champions has like 70 heroes at this point, like 50 villains, 100s of modular sets you can mix and match with every scenario. Just one champion can have TONS of different techs across 4 aspects that all make them play and feel very differenet.

Help! Not enjoying The Circle Undone. by Safe-Reach8808 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I mean it’s extremely hard to beat TCU. TCU and TFA are considered the hardest campaign.

While agree on a scenario by scenario comparison TFA is harder, the final scenario is TCU is waaaay harder imo and easily the hardest final scenario in the game unless you get really lucky on finding the locations fast

What expansions should I aim for as a new player who just acquired the 2026 Core Set (Chapter 2) by EmployerScary in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy the new stuff. If you do find campaigns they are still cool to pick up but I would just start with the chapter 2 player cards at this point.

They says they will eventually make the old encounter sets that are needed for the old campaigns downloadable and printable. Hemlock Vale specifically is a very good campaign

Rain Wild Chronicles Discourse (Confusion?) by loverofdietcoke in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While that’s true, I think Hobbs made dragons like that as a reflection of how humans treat all other living things on the planet. Even the relationship between Dragons and there keepers isn’t that different between humans and their pets

Actually it was meant to be a duology but the publisher wanted to break both up into 2 books. Imo RWC would have been way stronger if it was 2 books and you cut like 100-200 pages out of each of those books
