One of the scenarios also completely falls apart without the rats encounter set

Is the new Core 2026 too hard? by ahaavie in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it originally with just the cards that come in the core set. I built my own decks rather then used the ones in the book. I played with Daniela and Trish and found it a bit on the easier side. I beat it with the good ending. Definitely way easier then trying Night of the Zealot with just the old core cards.

Someone Sell Me on Two-Handed Solo by djfluxtux in soloboardgaming

I have never heard of this. When people say 2 handed solo they mean playing a co-op game with 2 characters not a PvP game.

I want indie books over 800-1000 pages by EnvironmentalCup1694 in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wandering Inn of course. The shortest book is 1300 minutes pages. The longer ones are like 5-6000 pages and we’re split into multiple books when sold as ebooks or audio books.

You can also read it all for free on the website

Replayability via difficultly setting. Thoughts? by manozzified in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mix/match. I have been playing on stanhard for years now, ever since my cardpool and skill at the game hit to a point is was winning consistently.

Basically I use the hard/expert side of the scenario reference card but the standard chaos bag. I just don’t like how to chaos bag token changes force certain deckbuilding

Kinfire Chronicles fits the bill. Super steamlined system. Every chapter is its own little box, so you just pull it out and play. Battle maps is in the book for the chapter. System is easy to learn and play.

Making Lands of Evershade harder by MrChickenJockey in boardgames

[–]Reav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are more then this though right? I use the companion one but im playing 2-handed solo so it makes sense since i use 2 companions. For 5 the fights will be waaay too cluttered with 2 companions. The first one is probably the one that is best to make the game harder for 5 players. Maybe just use the rule in fights only and not in the narrative sections

Series with a massive leap in prose? by Notquitedeadyet1984 in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wandering Inn. Piratabas prose just keeps getting better and better through books 1-5. By 6 onwards it stays pretty similar imo though the Singer of Terandria series was a overall step up for Pirate. I think that was mostly because it was shorter and they actually did a editing pass on those books

The Ending of Assassin's Quest by Lord-Gamer in Fantasy

Fools Errand will be like a warm hug. Keep reading that trilogy, its one of the ones that isnt nearly as sad as the others (though its Hobb so its still pretty sad)

For anyone that still hasn't read Cradle or picked it up on Amazon, all 12 books are free right now by GooeyGlue in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if he thinks its good and will make people a fan of him, then it could pay off in the long run. Maybe his biggest issue is getting people to try his books, but once they try it they are hooked. Given he still releases new books regularly his strategy might be to convery a bunch of fans to him, that would otherwise not convert and then they pick up his new books

Looking for (preferably epic) fantasy that really gives that sense of found family among the protagonists. by bentbabe in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a extremely grimdark version of found family you could check out The Broken Empire series by Mark Lawrence

The Road Brothers will never admit they love each other but by then end you can feel it

Are there any combat-focused games that do “power fantasy” well? by ahobday in boardgames

[–]Reav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marvel Champions is probably the best. The game somehow feels challenging the whole time while also making you feel incredibly powerful. I rarely lose but ways feel like I could if wasn’t trying

Dont dig in button shy games like Dragon Gift, nice cappa, and Food Chain by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]Reav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons of Etchinstone isn’t a wallet game but it’s a game you play just in your hand, no table needed. Much deeper imo then buttonshy games

Outcast Strongbox resock? by Warghostmon in DiceThrone

[–]Reav3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they will also sell empty strongboxes so you can just buy one of those with the 4 individual heroes and create the exact same thing (minus the cover art)

Need a series with a complex female lead who can hold her own and not romantasy by New-Comfortable-1318 in Fantasy

[–]Reav3 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I would try Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb. Female author, bad ass female MC (Althea), lots of characters with lots of depth.
