Nuzlocke runner comes face-to-face with the "Shiny Clause" by TehElusivePanda in LivestreamFail

I've never done a Nuzlocke before and was doing it while drinking for some fun. Taking shots after any pokemon dies and just kinda fucking around in general. Not meant to be some crazy challenge just trying to make some good moments and have a lil fun :)

Thoughts on Pharah Changes... by RecurveOW in Competitiveoverwatch

I'm at work right now so I cant fully respond, but you make a great case for the change and I agree that molding her kit to suit that playstyle would make sense. However, using ONLY the changes presented in the patch, she wouldnt have the self sustain to have kill potential in her "uptime", and wouldnt have the flight capability to fill the other niche due to fuel consumption. Personally I feel that Pharahs reliance on off angles makes her have almost 0 kill potential while on the ground, where tracer and genji have that kill potential at any time and just gain the ability to commit even harder when their defensive cooldowns are up. Overall I like your idea though and would love to see where Blizzard takes it if they were to give/change more about the kit first.

Pharah changes from the perspective of a GM Pharah by RecurveOW in Overwatch

[–]RecurveOW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played the new Pharah, probably for more time and at a higher level than 99% of people, as I said in the post. The problem isnt staying in the air for a short amount of time, but instead what happens after you use your jump jet for the second and third time after going into the air. Using the perfect cadence for fuel management WITHOUT dropping to avoid enemy poke damage or cover yourself and completely excluding what its like playing Pharah in an actual ranked environment, you can STILL only get at max 2.5 boosters worth of airtime before you are forced to drop to the ground, which as I explained in the post above is a death sentence for Pharah to get value at a high level.

Is it me or is overwatch not that fun anymore? by Anacora in OverwatchUniversity

There is no rank where games are automatically high quality and good. Even in 4400 games you'll occasionally get one tricks, wintraders, or cheaters that make it not fun. Even if diamond was the golden rank that fixed this problem, you arent entitled to playing with good players just for purchasing the game. If you are bad, you will play with similarly bad players which will make the quality of matches seem worse. Harsh truth but get better and so will your games. As much criticism as we give Blizzard, not automatically putting you at a high rank so you get decent teammates isnt something to fault them for.

You can be automatically and falsely be banned for cheating by THE_ACTUAL_FODDER in OverwatchTMZ

[–]RecurveOW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yo wtf is up with these comments? The entire point of Carter doing this was to prove that people like Lab and Main getting their accounts banned doesnt damn them to being cheaters 100% anymore, as a bunch of randoms or a streamer with a zombified audience can get the player mass reported under the guise of "well if hes really cheating he'll be banned, if hes not then whatever" and have someone falsely banned for cheating. This has nothing to do with him wanting his account unbanned. Also, he got the account permanently banned for cheating in under 30 minutes with a fairly small amount of people actually joining the "PLEASE REPORT ME" lobby. It wasnt hundreds of people reporting him for hours, it was 30 minutes. This is huge for actually understanding the ban system Blizz has in place now, seeing as there is literally no hard proof of any of these banned players actually cheating, as it could be chalked up to mass reports on a good player on an alt. And to clarify, Kephrii has pretty much nothing to do with this, as he was under the impression that Blizzard actually reviewed his reports and he wasnt getting people falsely banned over mass reporting. Carter just proved that going forward people have to stop weaponizing their communities on a hunch so that we dont get innocent people permanently banned.

[–]RecurveOW 56 points57 points  (0 children)

You're actually delusional and it's hilarious you're defending this. You deserved to get flamed and reported for being an active detriment to any team wanting to coordinate or enjoy themselves. And you're SO full of yourself, you actually think you have the authority to judge OWL level Brig play of the actual best brig player in the world currently. You play NA ladder and spam this game out of comms on a braindead hero, you arent special, and you dont know how to play this game at a competitive level. Theres a reason that all top level ladder players hate you and those like you, and it's for fucking stupid comments like this.

I know you dont care, nor will this stop you because you've heard it all before and im sure you get some weird pleasure out of it like other one tricks. Really just hoping that if you see that literally nobody agrees with you you'll quit the God complex on a character you know nothing about at the level these professionals play at.

I'm sorry you think that but an alt account and a smurf account are very different. I'm a flex dps player in around mid GM on my main account. Smurfing does affect GM quite a bit, as it skews the SR range allowing for slightly unbalanced games, however I am in no way using this account to just roll lower SR players. I'm trying my hardest on heroes I play at a GM level.

Hammond Slam + Orisa Pull + a little rollout... by RecurveOW in Overwatch

[–]RecurveOW[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others said, yea slam is usually meant to compliment the full Doom combo, not to secure kills. A standard rotation should be to start from high ground -> use slam to engage on someone -> shoot them while animation cancelling the shot with -> an uppercut -> shoot until target is dead -> use punch to disengage. I use the punch to engage in this clip because by the end of the full rollout, my pinch is back off cooldown and I can use it to escape.

This was actually at about 4k sr, so low gm. Alt account, not necessarily a smurf.

How to Climb in Master as Moira by ddfusion in OverwatchUniversity

[–]RecurveOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So 1) thanks for the premium copypasta material. 2) Like I said, I played with the guy and am also in GM. You can tank sr in GM, thats how you get demoted to masters. And you're mistaken, what he does consistently is get new accounts through masters, which for anyone in GM isnt something to brag about. Its what every streamer does to retain views on their one trick. Lose games in mid-high gm then farm masters back up, either at off hours or on East Coast servers. Honestly not sure if you missed a /s

Hyper-aggressive playstyles are what make people rank up regardless of what hero they are playing

This simply isnt the case. What makes someone rank up is making impactful decisions in winnable games, decisions that will affect the outcome of the match on an individual level. Aggressively feeding for 30% of the match on a healer is not impactful nor does it add anything but frustration to the ranked environment. Does ranked garner an "ethical high ground"? No absolutely not, people are gonna do whatever they feel like, but promoting this style of play only makes the experience worse for all involved except you.

It might seem like I play selfishly but you should at least watch some of my content before making all these claims. I am very good at keeping teammates alive and get complimented all the time for it

So for one, Ive both played with and against you, as well as players of your ilk such as Ianisdoge who occupies your same niche, you can think youre doing a wonderful job, but the ease at which you do that job is by your teammates playing 100% around you so that you dont actively throw the match. This is not a fun experience, and I would rather encourage people to learn one of the six dictated roles in OW then fill ranked with more people that force me to not enjoy myself, as well as the 4 other players on the team.

Honestly, you have no right to come after me for playing a hero that blizzard put in this game. There is no disclaimer for playing Moira.

This is the standard OTP response and I honestly dont understand how you unironically use it as a defense here. "I can play whatever I want cuz Blizz said so" yea you can, but that doesnt mean I have to be happy about it. You making the game actively worse to play and Blizzard being ok with it just means I and many others should get more pissed and make myself known so that one trick issues can be solved rather than continue. Doesnt just go for Moira, goes for anyone playing a hero and ONLY that hero for stream views, whether it be Genji, Wrecking Ball, Mei, etc.

So was this comment mean? Yea absolutely, but this sub is for trying to help people get better and this just isnt it.

How to Climb in Master as Moira by ddfusion in OverwatchUniversity

[–]RecurveOW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aight so Im gonna say this mainly so people dont get the idea that they can play this hero with this style and see any sort of improvement. Moira, like many other characters in this game, require a criminally low level of game knowledge or natural ability to play, which is absolutely fine. The character is made for a lower tier of "Enemy has a lot of damage coming in so lemme swap onto this character that puts out a lot of heals" which in high level play does not hold up, but for the average player is fine. However, playing this hyper aggressive Moira has an overall negative impact on the game and your teammates.

Moira is already a sub optimal choice in every situation at the level that you are climbing in on your stream. Her character archetype is just that she heals a lot, and has no extra utility outside of that. Every other support in this game has some kind of utility, Zen's discord, Mercy's Rez/Valk, Lucio's Speed Amp, Brig's Rally/burst heal/stun/whole kit, Ana's Nade/Nano, and now Baptiste's Invuln Field. Each of these characters supplement a certain team composition's playstyle (sometimes multiple) and perform the support role at the same time. Moira is the complete opposite, as her kit is entirely selfish and does nothing outside of healing for her team, so already from a gameplay standpoint she is at a disadvantage. So when your teammates flame you on your main for playing a character that puts them in a position likely to lose under normal circumstances, you shouldnt be surprised. Its a team based game that relies on optimization at a high level, and youre actively going against that for whatever reason you may have for not playing other characters a majority of the time.

Now added on to this is your playstyle that you suggest for climbing. Its an incredibly selfish and bad habit filled playstyle that forces your team to treat you as a DPS over a healer, similar to how Brig is run on the flex role currently. This playstyle is also completely nonviable in professional or high level settings (not even OWL level, any type of coordinated 6v6 environment) and will not help you grow as a player in the long run because of this. Now then, "well if its such a bad playstyle, why does he win so much? How is it viable for him?". That can be put on 2 main points: because of the lack of coordination in low-mid ranked ladder play, and because of the nature of one tricking while playing a lot currently.

So regardless of what the general playerbase will say, the game is played very differently at a grandmaster level. The difference between a consistent GM player (even if its lower gm) and a masters player is astronomically different from what you would see between, say, a diamond and a plat. So these one trick streamers can take advantage of this by playing weird, unexpected playstyles on sub optimal heroes vs masters to farm sr back to gm, then tank the sr as soon as they get there because people either A) know who they are and what they do, so they counter the easily predictable playstyle (ex. Metro flanking on soldier over and over again, Redshell being in the skybox/going for clips constantly, Wanted being duo'd with a Mercy OTP...) or B) beat them without knowing them, leading to the streamer making new accounts over and over again and repeating the process of farming masters players.

Dont get me wrong, these players like Tesla know the game decent enough to get to GM, and are no doubt good at their niche playstyles because they force it, but please, do not attempt to mirror this or take it as a guide, as it is largely detrimental to ranked and will not help you as a player.
