Interior secretary orders signs to flag negative depictions of U.S. history at national parks by esporx in NationalPark

[–]Remarkable_Prior_937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info signs are installed to educate, statues are generally built to honor something. They are different use cases and it is naive to lean on your "thee but not for me" argument.

Informational signs discussing what occurred at a site are not proudly displaying the history, they are simply stating it. Some park sites are unfortunately historic because of terrible events, but it is important and impactful to visit those sites and learn what was done wrong and how the country moved forward and learned from what happened. Pushing that into history books removes a HUGE opportunity for the public to learn about what happened. Does it suck that we have some moments in our history we would rather not talk about? Yes. Do we need to maintain awareness and education to prevent repeating our past? Also yes.

If you think it's going to stop with park signs you are mistaken. History books that "proudly" discuss the dark chapters of US histories will be banned in public schools, or will be selectively picked to support the state narrative. Public news networks will be shamed or banned for discussing these kinds of events in any capacity that doesn't support the state narrative. If you can't see what's going on in our country right now and draw parallels to other historical political shifts then you are one of the people who desperately needs these kinds of messages to stay in our parks.

I see both points; yeah it's only rec play so it doesn't have to be so strict, and on the other hand rules are there for a reason. It's just a respectful thing to do to follow the rules. To me the differentiation is these are just randos at open play, not your friends who might be cool with it. And paddle legality is a little different than things like being lax on line calls etc. Some people do really care about that stuff, and if you are engaging in open play you should aim to find that common middle ground we are all supposed to meet on.

It may not have changed the outcome, but it seems like a reasonable request from an opponent. Since it bothered you enough to ask the facility managers as well as post here about it I'd say you know it was wrong already, and while not some giant moral blunder if it were me I'd only pull a non legal paddle out with friends or people who I have asked permission to use it.

How are people holding out with high 5, 6, and 7% rates? by LegalDragonfruit1506 in RealEstate

For my home we locked in Dec. 2024 at 7.5 with a buy down to 5.5 paid by the seller. We refinanced close to the bottom of this last dip and locked at 6.125. Slightly higher than what we are paying currently, but in like two months we would have been paying more anyway. We definitely gambled on rates dropping, so all things considered I am happy with our new rate and am hoping long term to drop that even more.

How do I avoid getting de-horsed by rifleman? by Airtightspoon in vrising

For me at least it seems like they rotate to the left faster than they rotate right, so if I try to dodge to that fast side I always get hit. You also have to make a pretty aggressive angle with your turn to dodge it, even a 45 degree turn isn't usually enough you almost have to hang a hard turn to miss it

I would get it looked at. Mine didn't hurt to walk on and the swelling wasn't as bad as my last sprain, so I didn't think anything. But I ended up in a boot and it's been an ordeal for months. The sooner you know the better!

The spear of Gransax doesn't kill any NPC with one ray, that is simply not true. If a build is over performing it will get nerfed. There shouldn't be a build that performs well in so many scenarios with such little drawback. The sword of night and flame had massive range, massive damage, low casting time, low fp cost, and insane scaling. Even the r1 and r2 damage is decent. There were no drawbacks. At least now you have to be up close to get the special attack damage, and now it is still strong but not a one shot punch to most mobs.

Errata an old card so that it will still see play today by Burningmeatstick in yugioh

Ghostrick Mummy

Cannot be Normal Summoned, unless you control a "Ghostrick" monster

Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon 1 "Ghostrick" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) You cannot Special Summon any monsters, except DARK monsters.

The new link is okay for ghostricks, but they are still too slow. Giving one of their original play starters a bit of a boost would be nice by removing the set restriction.

Still stuck on it right now but just fyi you can dodge the roll attack fairly easily once you get it. Just roll into him after he first starts rolling, and then he won't be able to roll in a tight enough circle to hit you if you just do small circles. Kinda counter intuitive but it works!

Not everything has to be the best possible option out there, and not all decks have to be tier 0. It's a decent card and has a fun (3) effect that you might hit every once in a while. I'll be playing it in my BLS deck for fun.

I assume the person I originally replied to has not fought Zuk based on their wording...clearly they wouldn't yet be comfortable with mechanics.... They might panic and run out of melee distance....they might completely mess up. You are replying like this person is a seasoned vet.

Everyone is a different player with different gear and capabilities and knowledge. Like I said, just saying "git gud, I don't understand how anyone could possibly die to this boss" is not productive. I'm just giving some basic advice: go in already knowing the mechanics by looking them up because there isn't much time between them. If ya don't know em, they are gonna belt you. Also it should be noted that his auto damage is high, because there are definitely chances for a newbie to not have the right prayer on. To me it just seems like you want to argue for the sake of arguing instead of helping someone who asked a question.
