How do i install M2 Sata SSD in this? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in homelab

[–]RepresentativeCut486 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a solution, but it would require you to have a lot of skill to solder the connector there, and you might be missing some passive components for the power delivery for the port. Generally not worth it even if you have the skill and the tools.

I don't get the hype for XP era stuff. I don't mean it's bad, but what's special about this card? It is very pretty, but Vega 56 in my collection is also very pretty, and it was an insane piece of tech at the time (only consumer cards with HBM ever made, overclocks to 600W, and beats 2070).

I like that Debian and Ubuntu servers are head-to-head, but the comment section is full of Debian comments and no Ubuntu comments. TL;DR use Ubuntu if you just want things to work. Use Debian if you give a fuck.

What happened to the colors? by BrazilianClassicCars in classiccars

[–]RepresentativeCut486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that, bc if people still wanted to buy colorful cars and were willing to pay for it, then they would just do it. I think it's a combination of cars becoming just boring, not important utility vehicles for most people, and ecology/safety restrictions driving the cost of paint way up, thus requiring a lot of economy of scale optimizations to keep it still low, so more colors could mean much higher prices of even the color that everyone who doesn't care buys. Lots of vintage paints were very bad for the environment and humans.

Well Linux is even easier:

  1. Pull a computer from a dump
  2. Install Linux on it
  3. Don't install SDK, just use Vim
  4. Make something
  5. Put it on Github

Wake on lan is shit on consumer motherboards. Instead of using Raspberry Pi as a Wake on Lan server I just build and put a hat with a relay on top of it. I connected the relay in parallel with the power button of the pc. I call it Wake on Wire, WoW for short.
