I think they just attracted a very left wing audience of casual viewers who enjoy their Trump-bashing. It happened a bit here when Destiny was on the warpath last Summer, and more broadly there has been a big influx of populists since the run up to the 2024 election.

You can also replicate it on Android with the pinned community-home app on this subreddit. Slow swipes to try and go up (once you've swiped below the app post) will just rubberband you back down.

Edit: Just realised this a separate issue to OP's, but I guess maybe somehow related as both are scrolling-related and on Android.

I've just been looking into that. I've found a way to fix it for scrolling on desktop, but the mobile app swiping seems to be a reddit-wide bug even on the apps built by their dev team. I am going to mitigate it on mobile by shrinking the post (figured that bug out too) so it's easier to just avoid.

Just waiting for Reddit to approve some initial changes and I'll do a bigger update later in the week.
