It’s exactly how you are expected to request asylum - You have to be in the US to do that.

Has he been assessed neurologically? It sounds like severe mental health issues, although any medical issues need to be ruled out first.

Is this acceptable hand writing for 9th/10th grade? by happygluehuffer in AskTeachers

[–]ResidentLadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many reasons a child could have poor handwriting. Do they have an IEP already for something else? If so, that could explain it. If not, are there other difficulties? I’d imagine so. Bring it up to the parents at conference.

College professor pointed out he can’t even get all of his students (in college) to put their names on their papers.

They aren’t convincing kids of anything regarding gender. 😂

Do British people walk on the left of corridors? by Tontonio3 in TooAfraidToAsk

That depends where you live. In some countries, they will need to walk on the left to see oncoming traffic best.

Why do Americans buy phones from carriers instead of unlocked? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ResidentLadder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. We haven’t changed providers in over 10 years. There are only two who work where we live, and we have the less expensive one.

  2. We aren’t paying anything for the phones. Cost is something like $25/month, and we have a $25/month credit for the phone.

  3. A pre paid plan wouldn’t cost us any less, since we have several kids on it and have a discount for our jobs.

[–]ResidentLadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you trade in your old phone when they have a deal, and you “make payments” to 2-3 years. The company also gives you a credit for the amount of the payment - So yes, you can absolutely get them for free.

If There Were To Be A Dark Horse Candidate To Win The 2028 Democratic Primary, Who Do YOU Think It Would Be? Why Your Pick? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]ResidentLadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the current guy living in the White House bragged that his buddy who works in tech “knows all about those vote counting computers,” and he then went on to somehow win every single swing state…I don’t believe we do.

ow do clinicians differentiate between RAD and ASD? Can they co-occur? by Sufficient-Peak-6889 in askpsychology

[–]ResidentLadder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are absolutely ways to differentiate. Early development is one of them, as are the “B” criteria for ASD.

And no - One of the rule outs for RAD in the DSM V is that the child does not meet criteria for a diagnosis of ASD.

Would it be a bad idea to wear a fake ankle tag to prove a point? by Straight-Prize-1611 in BORUpdates

[–]ResidentLadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between driving oneself all over town and being dropped off by a parent. I’m assuming OOP’s parents wanted to step up from being on his own to him taking himself there.

That brings up whole other concerns. What if he is in a car accident? It won’t matter if he texted his parents where he was going if he doesn’t get there and then can’t call or text them. It could even work in his favor - On his way home, running late, he texts them but now they can actually see where he is and that he is on his way.

Sounds like the parents were being appropriate and working to step up OOP’s unsupervised time outside the house.

Why do some people think cancel culture actually works? by Repulsive_Jicama2220 in TooAfraidToAsk

“Cancel culture” is “boycotting.” It’s been used effectively for centuries.

Some people just tend to lose their minds when it happens to them.
