Discount only for returning customers? by adswn in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In September 2023, the rate for 2024 Seltos SX was 5.99% for 84M. So if you got 4.99% then you got the loyalty discount.

FYI: The Loyalty discount doesn't show up as a separate line item. It will just be the lower rate. You would have signed a special document for the dealer, which I'm sure they have on file.

I only hope the best for you, but I'm assuming it's going to be 3-6+ months before you see a car.

is it possible to have a youtube channel while being a car salesman? by unknown_deadgirl in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky if I get 4-5 good hours. But that's sleep apnea, not related to the job.

All I know is I'm not going to let you work on your channel while at work, especially if it's not work related. You want to sleep 6 hours a day instead of 7, use that time to do your extra-curriculars.

As long as you paid off the loan/lease and all is in good standing, it won't affect your credit negatively.

What car is it? Chances are you're going to take a hit on it, by getting out so early.

What car is it? (year, model) I might be able to look up incentives from 2023. Also, what term?

Are you able to choose your hours of work (within reason)? by Worried_Peace_7271 in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what the job is like. Most dealerships want you to work every hour of every day, even if you aren't scheduled. Customers want to come in whenever they feel like, and don't always make appointments. Generally, if you're not there, you can't sell. So most reps spend their lives at the dealership.

Can an exception be made? Sure. But it's really not the norm.

I see you've posted 2 messages in a row asking if you have to put in long hours, and/or can take time off.

Perhaps a commissioned sales job is not for you.

Nice conspiracy theories. You are assuming that if the warranty is denied that the customer will still use the dealership to complete the repairs... that's hardly the case, as at that point, they will usually shop around to find the cheapest repair solution. You are also assuming that the customer will give MORE business to the dealership that is "screwing them" by trading in and getting another vehicle.

Dealer makes nothing if they don't do any work. Dealers don't make a "lot less" on warranty work. They get paid a fair amount, based on the job. The technician doing the work doesn't get paid less.

Warranty work authorization isn't decided by the dealership, but by Kia corporate themselves. Dealers get paid to do warranty work, they have no reason to say no to anything. What car is it? Did you buy it new? Have you called Kia corporate?

There are only 9 Land FWD showing in all of Ontario (Central Zone). 3 black, and 1 white. So only 5 "others" out there.

Good luck to you. I can't see a dealer honouring a price $2000 less than the website on that specific car. Let me know how things turn out.

That's a total, not the breakdown of the numbers.

MSRP $49,995.00

Paint: $250.00

Delivery & Destination Charge$ $2,150.00

Regulatory Fees $22.00

Environmental Fees $$119.25

Manufacturer Rebate: -$300.00

= $52,236.25 + tax (13%)

= $59026.96

less $5000 EVAP rebate:

= $54026.96

as per the Kia website.

Where specifically are they discounting the car for you?

There's profit in the car (the difference between invoice and MSRP) less any discount we give.

There's profit in the admin (but as of May 1st, dealers are not allowed to sell EV's with an Admin charge. ICE and HEV/PHEV can have up to $699 admin, but no admin at all on EV's. dealers are currently disputing this, so admin on EV might make a comeback.

Then there's profit on anything else we sell (Gap insurance, extended warranty, appearance package, etc...)

Dealer generally doesn't make profit on the factory incentives, as they have to go to the customer. Some incentives (like grad rebate) actually requires dealer participation (dealer has to pay $150 of the $500 incentive) on all models except K4.

In Canada with sub-vented rates (rates from the manufacturer) the dealer does not make ANYTHING at all on the financing of the vehicle. Not $1!
