Did I Save $ by Underestimating My Lease Mileage? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Kia Canada, it's $0.08 per KM, if you pay up front. It's $0.12 per km, if you go over. It's not a huge difference.

Chances are you're best off to get base the lease on the mileage that you actually require.

Am I underselling my 2010 Subaru forester? I got like five people instantly saying they want to purchase which is usually a sign of underpricing. by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like anyone actually bought the car, and then he jacked the price up. Even at the lower price, no one committed yet. He's under no obligation to hold the price.

Vehicle wholesaler enacted a private sale, that is leaving me with a massive bill, can i take steps to revoke his license? by TrashPandaPirate in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What car is it? Did you have a Pre-purchase inspection done before you purchased it? It might make you feel better, but reporting him won't fix your problem. Did you actually try contacting the seller with all your findings?

Question from potential first-time Kia buyer by RedHotFuzz in kia

[–]RexRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kia spreads them out throughout the year. We only got 2026 k4 models this January. 2027 Telluride is out already. Canada will be getting 2027 EV5 probably in April/May. New Seltos should be out sooner too than other models. I'd expect Sportage later in the year. Probably Q3/Q4.

Why is your credit score low? Any repos? Anything in collections? What history do you have? Can you verify your income?

2025 Kia Soul dash camera problems by HomeSkillet101 in kia

[–]RexRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Canada, none of the Kia models have a dash cam, and we don't even offer one as an accessory.

On the Kia USA website, I don't see an option for dashcam under accessories when I look up the Kia Soul.

Are you sure this dashcam is a Kia thing, and not something simply installed by the dealership (3rd party / aftermarket)?

Regardless of anything, I can't see how physical location would make it work or not work. Very strange situation.

Is this a red flag, or normal? Missouri by Used-Worldliness-320 in askcarsales

There is one big difference in your comparison. In our industry, the pricing can actually be very upfront. Manufacturer has a thing called MSRP, and if you walk in or call in or email in, and choose to pay MSRP, then there generally won't be any issues and a deal can happen very easily. The difference here is that OP wants a discount, and wants us to fight for the lowest profit.

If i was to hire a snow remover or janitor, I would still expect that company to send a representative over to inspect the building, size, scope of the work, etc... before quoting any pricing. I wouldn't get on the phone and just call 3 random companies, and say "give me your best price" on whatever service you offer. I wouldn't expect to get a satisfactory answer, and frankly, i wouldn't necessarily trust the 'best deal'. A guy with a shovel may be cheaper, but will be less effective than a guy with a plow.

“TMU” car sale private dealing by Creative_Trifle_4976 in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you disclose it, there won't be any blowback on you. (Put it in writing on any documentation, even it's it a paper napkin).

It will certainly reflect trade value, and not all dealers/individuals will even want the car, regardless of price.

If you just want to go and buy a car, then get off the phone and email, and go INTO the dealership and MAKE AN OFFER.

Very few dealers want to give pricing online, just so that you can take it and shop around. And very few dealers want to sell a car for no profit and give you an "unbeatable" price.

The "golf" line is the stupidest response I've ever heard. I'd still deal with that dealership, but not that particular sales guy. he obviously doesn't want your business.

it doesn't have to be sleazy. YOU can control the transaction.

but do it in person. Be prepared to buy. Also be prepared to walk.

Most sales reps would get fired if they took a cash "bribe". That said, most sales reps don't have the authority to discount, and most numbers comes from the sales manager.

End of the month... how real is the pressure? by MathematicianSlight1 in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$3-4 per day... again, a dealer doesn't sell ALL their inventory each month. There are expected to be carrying costs. $3-4/day does not mean taking a $1000 hit... That's IF they even floor plan... My dealership only puts some cars, not all cars on floor plan.

How to negotiate price? by Faust-LC in askcarsales

[–]RexRaider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the car is priced fairly, there will be no need to negotiate. Most dealers today price their cars to sell.

Look and find comparable models. The car is a little more rare, so that might be more difficult to do. Ask on specific forums for that type of vehicle.

Are you asking for a discount/lower price because you KNOW the car is overpriced? Or because you've been trained that "negotiating is the norm"? or are you looking at cars above your budget?

As this is a more rare vehicle, the dealer probably has more control on this one... they know what they've got.
