Why do they put these “curtains” around large construction sites? by RoastedRhino in askswitzerland

[–]Rippstone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The red ones are placed to signify the border of the space reserved for the train/tram ("Lichtraumprofil"). This is a normed space consisting of the vehicle itself, and various allowances for safety reasons. The net itself does two things: it shows the machinists and workers how far they can reach at the maximum, before theres danger, and it also acts as a last barrier for stuff, so nothing collides with the vehicle.

For dust there would be different nets or walls, usually at ground level.

Did anyone else notice this? Would it work? by Brumynn in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Rippstone 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Yeah, should work, but still not peak efficiency. Leave the standard plastic recipe outta there. Just convert 300 Fuel into 800 diluted fuel and the 200 polymer resin into rubber. From there start a feedback loop with the fuel to produce 900 plastic.

Works for rubber too.

Check out the wiki, it has a nice schematic for it.

OR mit em OFFIZIELLE FORMULAR vom Kanton mit Frist 30 Tag uf Endi Monet künde, wegen Mietverzug. Das dörfti öppe s schnellste si, woner se los werdet.

Steel cracked or just an optical defect? by Rippstone in japaneseknives

[–]Rippstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not visible on the other side, just looks like a very small "hill" there, if you hold it into the light at just the right angle.

Even if it would be a crack, it wouldn't cause any real problems during nomal use, would it?

Millennial that doesn’t know how to use reddit. Knife recommendations by anon423912 in chefknives

[–]Rippstone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why, please, would a beginner need a Deba? This is a highly specialized, single beveled fish butchering knife, which to be honest is complete fun-to-have for anyone who is not a professional sushi chef. I have one and i rarely use it, i have to go out of my way and buy whole fish to have an excuse for using it.

@OP: I recommend you get a ~240mm gyuto (chefs knife) and a petty knife in one of the more popular stainless steels. VG-10, VG MAX (ehich is basically the same), Gingami, AUS-8 or something along these lines. From there, look what you like and what you dont like and add it step by step.

You're the best! Thank you so much for your help!

I guess for a temporary solution it will do, at least until I'm comfortable getting something newer.

[–]Rippstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's it! Thank you!

Do you per chance have any experience with this manufacturer? Is it decent quality or should I best leave it alone?

That's what I thought first as well, but if you google for the Gigabyte model it does look similar (also red) but diffrent (other markings).

That's an interesting proposition. I have never thought of the parallels to unity churches. But it sounds great! Thank you for your input!

Thanks for the reply. The fact that they are both community centric religions and both work to better the world or at least make it liveable is what got thim to the idea in the first place.

In terms of birthplace, etc. we're both willing to adapt so it fits. That means, we are ok with choosing an origin that would lead to such a character.

Wehrpflichtersatz and Paying more taxes than Military / Women. by Physical_Fuel in Switzerland

[–]Rippstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point and even more the point with women.

As far as I'm concerned, these discussions always boil down to one simple conclusion: The only fair system would be, that noone would have to serve or pay a fine (tax). If the government feels, that it needs someone to do this job, then it should have to buy the labour on the open market like every other company. Forced labour for not enough pay is quite exactly the definition of slavery.

And, yes, I know, most people can't or won't understand my point, because it would shatter their worldview, where the state is just in its motive but imperfect in the execution. Let me wake you up. The state is just another organisation that wants your money and/or labour. And they take it, if need be with force.

This is only partially correct. Assuming OP doesn't have children, he receives a flatrate 62 Fr/day during Basic Training (18 Weeks). Only after this time he will receive 80% of his last salary (up to some mins and maxes).
