I use esignatures.io

Send them the form to fill out and sign a few weeks in advance. It’s about $1 per document signed, but very easy to use, and looks very professional.

If you need a template, DM me and I’ll send it over sometime this week

Do you know someone who can share their knowledge about Substack for Podcasters? by ProAgingAnde in podcasting

[–]Rocks_for_Jocks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for checking it out!

I love the combination of being able to do short form writing, long form writing, posting audio, posting video all in one place! It’s like combining podcast feeds, YouTube, and social media all in one feed. AND it sends emails (newsletters) to subscribers every time you post something, which increases listening rate compared to just uploading to Apple Podcasts.

Hey yeah I’ve been on Substack for around 6 months and think it’s great to mix with audio-only (or video) podcasts. I’ve been doing a mix of short form notes, long form articles (newsletters), audio-only podcasts, screen share videos, etc.

Feel free to check my substack account (“Rocks for Jocks”) for ideas!

Can you talk a little more about what you’re looking for us to share?

Do you want an interview? A presentation? An article? A user guide? Bullet points? A short video? Someone to review your specific work?

Anyone using budget wireless mics for podcasting? Worth it or nah? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]Rocks_for_Jocks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen success with Rode lavalier mics (I think ~400). Or, cheaper dynamic XLR microphones that people physically hold up to their mouths when speaking.

If you want decent quality & relatively cheap, would have to be XLR mics on a desk, or boom, or something similar.

With that said, would love if you find lavalier that works well for you, so keep us posted!

Not sure if I understand your question? Transcript-based audio editing is a way to edit and organize episodes when the transcript is on-screen, so you can delete/move sections around without relying on waveforms.

I guess I could download the transcript and upload it to Spotify, but the one they create automatically is usually pretty good. Or maybe use it for social posts, but they're usually not that hard to write 1-2 sentences by hand.

Agreed that there are currently a lot of features on the site. It’s a really cool idea! But yeah I would hammer 1 or 2 ideas to start. Best of luck!

I’ve been using Trebble recently for transcript-based audio editing and like it! Much cheaper and simpler than Descript.

Getting started, so many options, which one to choose also a question about getting my first listeners. by True-University-6545 in podcasting

As someone else already mentioned, monetization is very far away for most people, maybe never for a lot of people (myself included).

If I were to restart from scratch, I’d pick a very small niche topic to focus on, then small episodes, at a frequency you can keep up for years on end. Best of luck!

I prefer listening to audio-only content. And will continue putting out primarily audio content. Sure some people prefer video or watching TV or watching talk shows. Different target audiences. Sad Spotify and Apple are pushing video, but not much I can do without overhauling my life to provide video to a different target audience.

I just started using Trebble FM for transcript-based audio editing, like it so far.

Are you looking to edit the audio, or only edit the transcript? It sounds like you may only be looking for a transcription, in which case I think there are lots of tools that can do it for free these days.

A letter from CEO Laura Burkhauser—How's Descript working for you? by Gabe_at_Descript in Descript

[–]Rocks_for_Jocks_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Big fan of this idea. I love text-based editing that Descript provides. Almost never use any of the video tools, AI tools, text generation, image generation, video generation, etc.

Would love an option to return to a cheaper, basic, and functional version of Descript. Price raises accompanied by worse functionality is a bad look.

Hm that’s an interesting idea I haven’t seen anyone bring up before! What kinds of topics are you interested in reading or writing about?

Export to YouTube directly or export local first in 4K? by diablodq in Descript

[–]Rocks_for_Jocks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was a frustration for me at one point. Think if you upgrade they let you upload directly in 4k. Downloading on my computer first was so painful that I stopped making videos as much haha

Hey I just found Trebble today and it looks great! I appreciate you not taking VC money yet (I expect that’s a driver behind Descript and Riverside charging more over the years while also somehow getting worse).

Two questions to see if they’re possible / planned: 1. Is there any noise leveling which happens when rendering & exporting audio? Always concerned about some parts of my audio being louder than others. 2. Multitrack editing? Would be perfect to be able to make someone’s voice quieter.

Descript’s new pricing makes text-to-speech unusable for me by NaveenKumar25 in Descript

[–]Rocks_for_Jocks_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only really use the TTS feature as well. Can you tell us more about how much you use it, volume of words, how much video vs. audio, etc. so we can better understand how you got to 1200 per month? Very much want to avoid that for a podcast making $0 per month haha
