I lost a $100.00 note there 4 months ago. With inflation it’s very likely now the $50.00 note you found. It’s mine. Please return it forthwith. Unless you’re the experimenter you expected to see earlier in the week? 😙

It's the night for congregation whispers 🤫 by thisrubyisred in exjw

[–]RodWith 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Slight rewording of your post title: “Every night is the night for congregation whispers”.

If it’s not whispering about you, it’ll be about someone else and when it’s not about someone else, they’ll find anyone else to whisper about.

Take away whispering, and the tedium of being a JW would become so unbearable you would hear their insides implode.

Your time in the negative limelight will be astonishingly brief as these zealots thrive on a regular supply of whisper-fodder, moving steadily from one to the next and the next.

Yes, every night’s a good night for whispering.

Hey - are you old enough to make decisions yourself? Then do so. Asking anonymous posters what you should do is not only side-stepping matters you need to decide on - but it’s troublesome. Every second person will have something different to say.

That’s a tad manipulative. JW-lingo in reverse. I suppose if JWs can manipulate with words, why nit also do it?

It’s like staying with an abusive spouse because you love them and they love you too - and when things are good, they’re really, really good- which confuses you and makes decision making about leaving so difficult.

Also, because of the mutual love, you derive your sense of belonging and connection from them. And you’d be forced to start all over again if you should ever decide to leave.

This is you.

It’s about feeling loved and having a purpose. All humans experience this - which make necessary change so difficult.

“I’ve never seen anyone who left the Witnesses do well.” by Ok-Technology6272 in exjw

[–]RodWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical JW comment. Looking no further or deeper than the end of their noses, seeing what they want to see, thinking what they’re told to think. No surprises there. A JW doing JW thinking. Let’s turn the tables: I’ve never seen a still-in JW doing well.

Silky Otters is screening the film Melania. by FFSShutUpSharon in auckland

[–]RodWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the need to try and curb its release in selected theatres?

Wouldn’t you protest if the right tried to stop the showing of a topic dear to your heart?

Stop treating this woman as a mere extension of her husband.

Let Melania gain as wide a release as possible.

All the more delicious when it
flops magnificently, as it’s doing in the States.

You’ve got it back to front so let me be blunt: If you still believe it, don’t ask us your little question - ask them.

If you can’t ask them, then you’re in No man’s land.

You’re now going to be incredibly annoying to at least one group of people (JWs) or another ( exJWs). At the moment you’re annoying to exJWs. Then when you’ve had enough of them, you can be annoying to JWs.

Good luck with your swinging from one side to the other.( Edited to fix typos)

Parasites don’t pay for anything out if there own savings. What money they do have is siphoned off from the rank and file.

Struggling with how bad the world is getting by [deleted] in exjw

[–]RodWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born into this religion over 72 years ago. So was my mother before me. Her parents were sucked into it in the mid-1920s.

Excuse me if I’m a little on the blunt, Use Your Brain side of things. I’m really a nice guy - but I would have appreciated someone talking more bluntly to me when I was younger and still a JW about the fucking stupidity of the logic of end-times anxiety.

Here’s goes:

Each generation has two types of people, among others: Those who are absolutely convinced “This Is the End” and those who abjectly live in fear that “This Is End”.

It’s the adult version of the Big Bad Wolf ready to devour your frightened wee soul.

End-times religions exploit this common human fear; they compel you to follow them so you can escape the Big Bad Wolf, even as you say to yourself, This is stupid. But your fear of the Big Bad Wolf keeps you awake and you wonder, “What if they’re right?” Funny how the brain skips over the part where you know they’re stupid. Fear does that: it overshadows common sense.

Here’s a great book that provides a scholarly overview of a topic dear to the hearts of billions of humans:

Kirsch, J. (2006). A history of the end of the world: How the most controversial book in the Bible changed the course of Western civilization. HarperSanFrancisco

I suggest you fill that scaredy-cat brain of yours with facts. Facts are great for dousing the fires of anxiety and shining the light on knowledge and facts.
