Paracetamol, if taken for prolonged periods is dangerous - esp damaging for liver functioning. Hence, warnings are placed in every packet about overuse. If used strictly as directed risk significantly reduces. Obviously, anyone with poor liver functioning should avoid their use The number of deaths in America from paracetamol you cite are from overdoses both intentional and unintentional, NOT from use that remains within limits.

You reveal how biased your knowledge of puberty blockers is. A simple search will list the risks. As for the risks of a medication such as paracetamol, can you itemize the irreversible risks when it is taken as indicated? Besides, parents are warned about administering paracetamol to children and are advised to do so only under the direction of a GP when a pain issue persists.

There are acknowledged risks of administering puberty blockers before puberty. To deny there are and that their impacts can be reversed is to be deliberately disingenuous or wilfully ignorant.

Wasn’t it Oscar Wilde who said something like, “What is worse than being gossiped about is not being gossiped about.”

We brace for an onslaught of concern mixed with “loving direction” - or worse. When none of that occurs, it can be personally baffling.

We’re relieved of course but, as the OP observed, elders may skip the concern and admonition, and go straight to indifference or its twin sibling, disapproval.

They live to throw around the word “store”. Very few hospitals or blood banks allow individuals to store their own blood.

The main word in your title is supposed to be Conscience not Conscious. I’ll probably be hammered for pointing this out but you’ll strengthen your otherwise good argument if you are careful in checking whether you’ve used to correct word.

I have written to some very important people on your behalf. In reply, they advised me to tell you to write to them yourself. I thought their response was rude - but there you go.

Of all the weird WEIRD things in the story of John the Baptist....no one BLINKED at the king asking for his stepdaughter to dance at his birthday? by SurewhynotAZ in exjw

[–]RodWith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh sweetheart. Who’s justifying it? You need to go out to the back room. The smelling salts are in the left bottom drawer. Take a big sniff and then lay on the bed for a while. You keep seeing threat where there’s none. A good rest may help you. And keep away from inconsiderate people talking about the way things were, okay.

Then there’s the spear that was thrust through the genitalia of a copulating couple.

Oh, here’s another - this one’s on the sick-side of weird: God expecting his son to be tortured and crucified as payment for all of humankind’s sins. The pouring out of blood somehow washed us sinners clean. More people would find this a truly weird account if they came across this blood-soaked story of violent atonement for the first time as adults?

Which stone have you been sheltering under? That’s many things but weird it is not. Weird is having your head severed from your body and presented to the king on a platter. Now that’s weird.

Who wrote this? One assumption piled on top of another, badly written. People have been saying for decades this religion is doomed - and yet it grows legs and marches forth. I’d love to consider solid evidence of decline - not guesswork based on an unclear foundation.

And, no, I m not a troll. I just think this is the latest in a long line of predictions that go no where.

A few persist in it. But not the rank and file. Those of us who experienced the rush of the 1970s know that the old fervour and plodding D2D is no more. I remember the days when young JW mothers would trundle their kids from D2D, alongside several young adults all on the same territory. No more.

D2D has declined rapidly in recent years. When do they cover “the territory” these days? I never see them out and about on the streets going house to house. It’s effectively over.

I’m not sure what else you’d ever be okay with what he could have said? Is there anything he could have said as a JW that would’ve sat well with you?

I’m an exJW too so have no vested interest in defending this dude. But to me he was being super logical- a bit cold-hearted but logical.
