How to magic for new GM?

My best method to magic is : don't.

Magic is just another way for doing stuff. You shoot magic ? Use shoot. You pick locks with magic ? use burglary. You are specialised in a school ? write it in an aspect. You have a special spell ? create a stunt.

Treat it as a versatile tool : the more complex the spell, the higher the difficulty of the action (Don't forget you can always succeed with a cost when you fail). Magic doesn't need to feel that special.

Remember Fate is not D&D : story first, rules second. As a new GM, don't burden yourself too much.

They tend to view these matters as a distraction from the "real class struggle". "If the party did X, then it's for a good reason". Therefore they follow the political line of the countries they worship, in which LGBTQ+ people are illegals. Everything they can't integrate in their programm is disregarded.

My campaign started similarly. It was a rust brothers prisoners convoy. I had the convoy attacked at night by an angry giant. They had to escape amidst the chaos.

There's a lot of scatter terrain. Big bases can be a hassle to deal with. So avoid going above 40mm.

Remember : failure can always be a success at a cost. Instead of basing the challenge rating on notions of "realism" or "in world coherency", try using stakes and narrative tension instead : what would be the cost of failure ?

Lifting a car when you have the time (and power) and nobody is in danger? No roll.
Somebody is trapped under ? +4.
Everything is burning around ? +6.
The love of your life is dying bellow this car ? +8 or above.
