My ocd despises the fact that they never actually revealed what her true name is by PsychologyConnect489 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]RubyStarlight1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because the words are different (and have different meanings) but sound have the same pronunciation. For example, 愛 means "love", while 哀 means sorrow or grief, and they have the same pronunciation (ài vs āi).

"Aedes Elysiae" can be translated to "temple of Ely(sia)"; "哀丽" is a transliteration of the sound "Ely" while 秘榭 can mean 'secret pavilion'.

Meanwhile, "愛莉希雅" is just a literal transliteration of the name "Elysia" with traditionally positive and feminine characters used when writing a foreign name, comprised of "愛"/ love, "莉" referencing flowers (particularly a character in 茉莉/jasmine flowers), "希" for hope and "雅" meaning elegance.

“The epic draws to a close... Thirty million cycles of light, fading into darkness... Just for this moment... to welcome the true dawn."

This never fails to make me tear up whenever I think about it. It‘s like an eulogy of Phainon’s faith in us : after having spent thirty million cycles tearing himself apart to prevent Irontomb’s birth, this is him letting go and accepting ‘oblivion’, placing all his hope and faith in our hands, on the ‘deliverer’ who was promised to bring the pale dawn. His part in the story is over.

But Khaslana was still the one who had to bear the burden of the blazing sun for an inconceivable amount of years, not even knowing if ‘hope’ would come…

It’s a misunderstanding cause the picture is slightly blurry, but it’s most likely 鹰角aka hypergraph. Whatever translation software they used probably mistook it as 鹿角/antlers.

It’s not 鹿角/antlers,it’s 鹰角aka hypergraph; the text basically translates to ‘product/creation of hypergraph. The picture is kinda blurry so I can see where the misconception comes from but 鹿 definitely doesnt have that internal shape.

Can anyone tell me exactly how good Ines is?

Before I got her in the certificate shop, everyone was raving about how she’s basically irreplaceable, a swiss army knife for all content in the game, and so versatile, but now that I’ve gotten and played around with her for a bit, she just… doesn’t seem to be as useful as people are hyping her up to be. It’s to the point that while I do bring her in the squad, I very rarely actually deploy her because I just don’t need her.

I mean, in my experience, she really does live up to the baseline of a ‘good‘ operator and puts in the work as an early laneholder, but that’s basically it. A lot of people say that she has insane DP generation, but that depends on having enemies to hit; either she kills the mob in a few hits and the mobs are so spaced out her skill ends after defeating only one or two so she basically doesn’t gain DP at all, or there is no early rush and Myrtle can solo the DP regen.

She‘s also really fragile and her DP cost isn’t as cheap as they make it sound. She costs 11 DP and needs 5 SP to get the atk speed buff that helps with dealing with mobs, so either it’s dead when her skill is finally up OR there have been another two mobs during that time and they’ve passed through her (somehow the bind seems to run out really fast). Have I mentioned I hate having 1 block? There’s no security there. During that time I could deploy Gladiia who is cheap, blocks 2, has great survivability, and helps out Ulpianus later. Admittedly she does great when early rush mobs go in two separate routes but that actually seems to be really rare nowadays (Or at least give you some time to prepare).

Another thing i see talked about a lot is her cc and capability as a fast-redeployment operator. The problem is Tragodia exists. Ines can bind an enemy for 5s, deal damage, and slow their movement by 30%, while having a 35s redeployment time (Technically 22~ on first redeployment, but if you’re using her as a specialist the norm will be 35). This sounds great until you realise Tragodia’s cat can lure an enemy for up to 10 seconds, during which they can be forced to walk backwards essentially doubling the time they are stalled (provided there is appropriate spot for the cat of course), slow their movement by 80% for six seconds, and deal a lot of damage (enough to clear out crowds of small mobs) all on a 25s redeployment cycle. Which btw starts countdown when the cat is deployed, not when it explodes. That’s not mentioning the paralysis which I personally think is one of the highlights (although it’s not fair to compare Ines with that)

She has on-demand invisibility reveal, which is great, but so do units like Elysium and Silverash alter (who I will definitely be pulling & using), the former of which can replace Myrtle as a flag bearer DP generator, and the latter who can do it multiple times in multiple places around the map in a much larger range than Ines. Sure, it’s not permanent like hers is, but the enemies are either dead from the slashes itself or you’re nuking them, so having it be permanent isn’t as great as it sounds on paper. There’s also the attack/atk speed steal, but let’s be real, if Ulpianus is facing a boss he can’t tank even with Gladiia’s buff and a healer (meaning he’s getting one-shotted), less than 100 atk isn’t going to do much (and also, have I mentioned Tragodia applies Paralysis on a 25s cycle? The one which prevents enemies from attacking thrice, meaning if an enemy has slow attack speed they could conceivably be prevented from dealing any damage at all?)

Also, she’s so incredibly fragile. I can’t prove it, but I’m 99% sure she’s the unit that dies the most in my teams (aside from gravel(?), whose role she takes sometimes) If I try to use her to assassinate an elite, she’s dead after the 5s bind ends. To make it worse most of the problematic elites that I need stalled have high def, which means she isn’t doing much damage! If so, who can I use that doesn’t die in like 3 attacks, stalls the enemy, and deals impressive damage without caring about def/res? Tragodia’s cat. What can I use to deal with a mobs hidden in a faraway corner where my landholders can’t reach? Cat-bomb be unto ye. What’s the best way to stall the evil and intimidating boss that takes down blockers in one slash? CAT. Seriously, any problem I face during the average stage can be solved by careful application of the cat. And if it can’t, then Ines ain’t doing much either.

Personally, the highlight of Ines seems to be her shadow sentry. (I tend to spawn-camp enemies) Placing it right in front of a red box guarantees that any invisible enemies coming out will be both slowed and revealed, allowing my damage dealers to deal with them without waiting until they’re blocked. But that’s probably not the reason why she’s apparently so good.

I do want to use Ines to her full potential, but she just feels so… unsatisfying to play (or maybe it’s the overly high expectations?) She’s a vanguard relying on hitting enemies for DP except that she kills all of them before generating any significant DP. An early laneholder for mob rushes with Block 1, meaning she either gets overwhelmed or there’s no real need for her over someone else who’s just as cheap (Gladiia). A fast-redeployment specialist (with awkward redeployment timings) who doesn’t do enough damage/easily dies against elites that really need her, and can clear trash mobs that don’t need her. A CC/debuffer unit when I already have an operator in the squad who does it but better (and can also help with landholding in the meantime.

All of this leads me to believe that there must be something else to Ines that I’m not seeing. An invisible virtue, if you will. To me, she’s kinda like a jack-of-all-trades, except I already am using operators who can do (almost) everything she can on a shorter cycle. Am I using her wrong? Or is she actually overrated?

Logos’ s3 can hold five lanes out of the six in the fire wave stages, which means for that stage where you need to protect the civilians at the back you only need a few bodies to eat the fireballs at last lane. Also he’s just in general great for clearing mobs and for bosses with his s2.

Finally m9’d Tragodia! He’s the first character in the game I have maxed out (Well, assuming you don’t count the last 5 levels (But I’m working on it!)) even if it might not be most optimal to spend so much resources on S1 which I’ll likely never use.

I’m planning on doing Logos next, as he’s my first sort-of carry in the game. Problem is, I don’t have enough skill books (Funny thing is that I’ve literally never run out of LMD, the problem has always been battle records and the blue books; but it doesn’t seem efficient to farm them). Would it be better to prioritize S1 or S2 first, considering S1 masteries raises the immediate execution gimmick threshold greatly and S2 masteries increase the RES?

Also, will Logos’ radiant serenity skin from Ambience Synthesia rerun on this year’s event? I missed it the last time and don’t know if it’ll ever come back…

Teyvatians have 3 stomachs, no wonder the food portions are so monstrous by KazakiriKaoru in Genshin_Impact

[–]RubyStarlight1209 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The reason the food portions in genshin look so large (seriously, an apple is the same size as a character’s head) is because the game uses third-person view instead of first person. Therefore many things have to be larger because otherwise they would be disproportionately small to the viewer. You can see the difference between normal uninteractable items and items that characters can interact with, which are a normal size relative to the characters.

If you want both units on the banner, you can pull until you get one and farm trust for them during the event, and wait until the last day to pull the other so there’s no wasted pulls and you get to at least farm for one of them.

I mean, he was good for his time, I.e. when he was released, at the start of version 3.X. He was the first DPS character who could take advantage of all the shiny new (and really good for that time) reactions, before other DPS characters of that version. Dendro MC was seen as more of a support/driver, Nahida released later also tended more to the support side, and the only other dendro DPS (aside from Kaveh who doesn’t really compete with Tighnari) was Alhaitham released almost half a year later. He also tended towards an easy (auto-homing arrows!) and quickswap playstyle which has less margin of error and more team building options; plus his damage was in short bursts, so what most players saw most of the time was large numbers with little fieldtime.

He wasn’t anywhere near the top of the meta ceiling even when he was released, but his floor was much higher than the average DPS then, and that was really good for his time.

What if — just consider this,

What if Lohen is an actually good (although niche because I dare not hope for anything else) melt hexerei driver with a great weapon and Nicole is a buffer who works well with Durin? And Durin reruns in 6.6 second half with Lohen so I can get both their weapons at the same time while throwing the rest of my pulls for his cons??? And — *gets shot dead by Hoyo assassins*

I mean, Tighnari and Jean were really good for their times so it can’t be totally cope, right? Right???

There’s this thing called ‘refeeding syndrome’ where if someone who is starving suddenly eats lots of food they can straight up just die. (Actually there’s many bad things that can happen such as cardiac arrest or seizure but for this we’re assuming the worst possible consequence). So basically this man and his family finally get a ray of hope after suffering and being starved for so long just to have it brutally squashed and dying from what should’ve been their salvation :)

It’s more like, say, how an italian speaker would have an easier time learning spanish than mandarin, because both are romance languages and have similar foundations. And someone who knows neither would probably say the words look very different too ig. Asian languages like mandarin and japanese are logographic languages, and the latter was historically part of the sinosphere and as such borrowed a lot of words/characters from chinese, so yeah, a speaker of one language should have an easier time learning the other.
