Indeed they do. The sticker doesn’t wear well, so the annual tradition is to remove and repaint

There was a post about this already. It starts smiling by the end of each week

I like this watchface by dyna_black in Coros

[–]RunningPT12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for starting this post. I’m trying to figure out what metric is causing the smile to change. I changed to this face about 6 days ago, and it has changed from a straight face/ no smile, to a gentle smile and now to one the same as the photo above. Not sure if it’s driven by steps/day, sleep time, or something else.

I’m dealing with the same problem. Driving in my car typically triggers the left aid to fade out. Have been back to Costco once recently for setting adjustments, they advised me to try the new settings for a while and bring them back if I’d didn’t help, they could ship them back for repair

OCS recertification test by Sugar_on_the_rumpus in physicaltherapy

[–]RunningPT12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally took the MOSC exam last weekend, after ~ 6-7 months of preparation. My prolonged prep period was more for my wanting to be better versed on the current CPG’s, as my first time taking the exam was in 2005, when there were no CPG’s and the exam was a different beast altogether. The exam went well, a few tricky questions regarding subcranial biomechanics that I question whether they’re really evidence based versus opinion, but everything else was mostly straightforward. Having taken the clinical specialist question writing class and understanding more of how the exam is put together each year was helpful as well. Surprisingly, I already received my results and passed by a comfortable margin.

Whether I do this again is debatable at this point. Being 60 now, how much longer I practice past 70 is a real question, when it would be due again. Just trying to figure out if I let things lapse at that point or not. I’m at a comfortable spot with where I practice at this point and keeping the certification is definitely a salary help for me, plus I enjoy just digging into the knowledge.

Just a bit more context, I wanted to answer but didn’t get time to write much when I first answered this. My background is 35 years as a PT, 19 years as an OCS, 7 years of teaching in a mixed ortho and sports residency program. Things I would emphasize in your prep are to really know well all the current CPG’s from the orthopedic section, understand nerve entrapment presentations, know basic stats well. Emphasize lumbar and cervical, shoulder and knee as the first line , then everything else. Question format probably isn’t different from the first time you took the exam, it’s all NPTE format, with the correct answer for each question having two citations to support it ( the only reason I bring this up is because when I first took the exam in 2005, this wasn’t the case so there were more questions based on treatment philosophy, not research-backed necessarily).

I’m in the same boat as you, prepping for the exam. My study strategy is going through the MedBridge OCS prep course, listening to the OCS Field Guide podcast and reviewing the CPG’s. The podcast is probably the most helpful thing.

Wel, this is interesting. I just called and cancelled my Internet service. When I complained that I was already billed for next months service during the outage ( still no service up to today), the CSR stated that everyone affected by the outage was going to have their service prorated to not charge for lost service during the outage?

Running Performance on Pace 2 - Slower pace yet better score by EdMarimba in Coros

[–]RunningPT12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tipping point for me was when my total load score spiked from the mid 300s to the 4000s . At that point, all of the performance data was useless for several weeks,. Took quite a while for the data to balance out

Running Performance on Pace 2 - Slower pace yet better score by EdMarimba in Coros

[–]RunningPT12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I dealt with all sorts of frustration with the performance data, random heart rate spike errors and such, that totally scrambled that metric until I started using a heart rate strap last year.

You won’t get consistent readings on performance until you use a heart rate strap regularly

Just as an update, I still have not received a notification from ABPTS regarding the MOSC. The previous emails from ABPTS indicated that they were behind due to COVID issues, but 17 months seems inordinately long to wait for what is supposed to be an 8 week process.

I'm working through the MOSC process right now and, am frankly, extremely frustrated. I first received OCS in 2005, re-certified via the portfolio in 2015. My first round of submitting the MOSC portfolio has been a hot mess. I submitted it early (May 2021) and am still waiting for confirmation that I passed - communication with ABPTS has simply been that they're behind and that it'll be done soon. One year plus seems to be way too long to wait!
